Renji's POV

I thought being sent here in Karakura will make me happy cuz I haven't been here for such a long time... But I was wrong. I don't know why but I felt like I was missing someone back there at Soul Society.

I flash-stepped somewhere away from Ichigo and the others cuz I need quality time by myself.

I reached a beach and so I stayed there. It was summer and so I closed my eyes and listened to the sound of the waves, relaxing. I also heard the children laughing and playing until someone flashed into my mind. It's Byakuya Kuchiki, my captain. 'Wait, why am I thinking about him!?!'

I opened my eyes upon hearing someone calling for me. It's Rukia.

She smiled at me and asked, "what are you doing here all alone?"

"It's nothing, Rukia. Just letting my time pass."

I was surprised I can look into her eyes and answer her without feeling anything. 'Don't I like her anymore?'

I snapped when I heard her say, "Renji, Nii-sama is searching for you."

"H-he's here!?!" I quickly stood up and a smile came across my face. I saw Rukia raise a brow but she just let my weirdness pass.

"Everyone's here! But Nii-sama doesn't wanna go with us so we left him alone at a cottage. He said he doesn't came here to have fun but to see and to be able to talk to you."

I was curious and so I nodded. She then told me where Captain is before she go, searching for Ichigo.

My heart is pounding at the thought of seeing him again. I just don't know why...yet.

I went near him when I saw him alone and so I called, "C-captain..."

"Where have you been, Renji?"

"I... U-uhm... I'm sorry... I didn't know you're coming here, captain..."

"I did not want to go through the trouble searching for you, so I have told Rukia to call for you. Don't tell me you did not want to be here..." He bluntly stated.

"What? N-no. W-why would I.." I told him.

"Calm down, Renji."

"Hai." I then replied, looking away (cuz I know I'm blushing) so he won't notice I'm feeling something for him. 'Wait, what!?!'

I didn't find it uncomfortable cuz he's my captain and I've always been with him. Besides, this is the only time we're together, not for a fight or training but to just have fun and relax so I would just enjoy.

He asked me if I want a shake and so I told him bottled water is enough. "I'll go get some for us..."

"C-captain, it's fine!!! I'm your lieutenant and I'm here to follow your orders and commands. I should be the one to get some for us..."

"My lieutenant... Is that so?"

"Of course!"

"No, it's fine. I'll go get some, I insist..." He still refused to let me get him shake and water for me. He stood up and was about to go but he faced me again saying, "If you really wish to obey my orders, then I shall give you one simple task.. Go pay me back the love I am feeling for you."

My eyes widen as of hearing my Captain say words like that toe without even mincing a word. "W-what!?! C-captain, are you making fun of me?"

He didn't reply. He just stared at me decidedly. "Y-you're not!?!"

"Of course I'm not. Don't you feel the same way, Lieutenant Abarai?" he said in a serious tone.

There's no point in lying. "I... I do like you... No, I think I love you captain..." I finally confessed and that made him smile. 'This is the first time I saw him smile this sweetly...'

"I love you too, Renji. Since the first time I saw you... I know there was something special about you." He then responded. 'That's like music to my ears... It sounds so right.'

We hugged each other and I got sad as he pulled back but that was quickly replaced by a shock when he kissed me. I wasn't able to react at first but then it felt so good.

Now I'm sure... This isn't just any strange feeling or something... I love him and I'm so lucky he loves me back.

"N-nii-sama!?! R-renji!?!" I heard Rukia and so we pulled off from our kiss.

Everyone was there! Watching us with their eyes widely opened and their jaws dropped.

We also hear Ichigo saying, "Byakuya and Renji!?! W-what in the world is happening!?!"

I got totally embarrassed but Captain doesn't seem to mind. "If someone here has any problem or objection with what they saw, please step forward and I'll destroy you." He took his zanpakuto out from its sheath and said, "scatter...."

They all run away except from Ichigo and Rukia.

"Oi, that's so unfair! We did nothing to you!" Ichigo exclaimed.

He didn't listen to Ichigo and continued, "....Senbonzakura!"

"Wha-!?! Nooo-!!!" They finally run away and I sweat dropped.

When they're gone, He looked at me and smiled. "Where were we again?"
