A/N: Huge thank you and shout out to @Vanilla6124for making the chapter banners. What amazing work am I right?

The night chill was refreshing as I walked through the woods that surround the small town I resided in, Clarmore. There were stories of creatures in the forest and of children who went missing traveling too far from civilization, but that's all they were, stories. The sun was beginning to set, but it was a full moon tonight so I was confident that the bright light would be able to show me the way home. If not, I always carried my  headlamp. Ever since I was little, the outdoors always brought me peace and solace. Sometimes, I would enjoy the quiet while other times I would listen to music while hiking the non exist trails. As I reached a clearing on a small cliff, I sat down and admired the beauty of the moon that glowed brightly. I had hiked a longer distance than I usually had and was tired. Closing my eyes, I told herself I would just take a little nap so I could hike the couple miles back to her home.

The moon seemed to be getting bright and closer. I blinked my eyes thinking I was seeing things, but when I looked up, I saw a woman, floating towards me. She was pale as snow with beautiful silver hair. It was a chilly tonight, but this woman was wearing a dress that flowed against her skin, barely covering her. As the radiating woman stepped onto the edge of the cliff she started to walk towards me. I stood up, but couldn't move as I was captivated by the sight in front of me, and I couldn't deny that I was scared.

"My child, there is no need to fear me." As she stepped closer to me, I suddenly felt very at peace. "I need you to remind them, Alanna."

"How do you know my name? Remind who of what?" I asked her.

"You will know in time." The pale lady placed the palm of her hand on my head. "Take this as a gift from me to you. Use it wisely." My head started to feel a little warm and I noticed there was a small light emanating from her palm. When she took her hand away, she smiled at me and then turned back towards the cliff, walking away.

"Wait." I called after her and she stopped, not turning around. "Can you at least tell me your name." I took a couple steps towards her and she finally turned around smiling at me.

"Selene. Now wake up." She raised a hand to her mouth and lightly blew dust into my face.

I jolted awake, coughing, looking around me. Weird dream... I was sitting against a tree and the moon was getting higher in the sky. Shit. I pulled out my headlamp and started walking towards my home. Clarmore was a small town with lots of small houses and cabins everywhere. I managed to snag an abandoned cabin just outside of town in the woods. No one had lived there for years and no one wanted to because they were all too scared of the forest. It was the perfect place for me, small, quiet. As I neared my cabin, I noticed that my wood stock was getting low and I made a mental note that I would need to chop some more wood before winter came if I wanted to keep warm. I trudged up my front stairs and took off my boots, keeping them outside as to not track in the dirt I had collected. I unlocked my door and walked in, setting my small backpack down by the door and stripping myself of my light sweatshirt and my socks, tossing them by my washing machine. I didn't need much space so my one roomed cabin was very homey and welcoming. The kitchen consisted of a small stove, fridge, and only a little counter space with minimal cabinets as well. I had a small table with a couple chairs and then a loveseat and lounge chair for my living room on the opposite side of the kitchen. My bedroom was tucked away in the loft, requiring me to climb the ladder that divided my living space from my kitchen.

It was late and the grumbling in my stomach reminded me that I still had not eaten dinner. I walked over to the fridge and pulled out some soup that I had made a couple days ago. Turning on the stove, I grabbed a soup pot and reheated the cold stew, putting the burner on low. As that heated up, I took off the rest of my clothes and hopped into my shower. I let the warm water wash off the sweat and dirt as I closed my eyes remembering the pale lady that I encountered in my dream. As the smell of my dinner reheating started to become stronger, I turned off the water and grabbed a towel nearby, wrapping it around my body. I put on some legging and a light t-shirt then went and turned off the burner. I set the bowl of soup down at the table and grabbed the map of the area I had in my backpack. I charted the new route I had taken and marked where the clearing was, pausing when I heard the sound of howling outside and smiled to myself. I picked up my bowl of soup and walked out onto my porch. They never came close to my cabin, but I loved listening to them talk back and forth to each other. As I was just about to head inside, I stopped and squinted my eyes, focusing on a certain area. I could see two yellow eyes in the distance among the trees and I was sure it was one of the wolves. It was almost impossible to see the body as I was sure it was a beautiful black wolf. I gave it a small nod and smile as I headed back inside. I washed my bowl and pot and then climbed the ladder to my bed. It was just a mattress on the floor, but it was a bed and I was happy with it. I snuggled under the blankets and drifted asleep.

I awoke to the sun streaming in through my windows and climbed down my ladder so I could get dressed for work. Making a quick breakfast and packing my backpack with lunch, I headed outside to my bike. I grabbed my helmet pushing it over my head and put the visor down. Starting the engine, I kicked the stand up and rode to work. It was about a 10 minute drive to the public library where I worked as one of the managers. I parked my bike around back and walked through the employee back entrance. I was usually the first one there so it was dark and quiet before I turned on all the lights and walked into the back office. I set my things down and made some morning coffee as I heard someone walk in.

"Morning Alanna." My coworker Heather set her purse down and waited for me to finish making my coffee.

"Hey Heather." I grabbed my coffee and moved out of the way so she could make her cup for the morning.

"So did you go out again last night?"

"Ya I did. I found this clearing on top of a cliff. It had the most beautiful view of the full moon." I took a small sip of my warm mug.

"I don't know why you go out there alone! You do know people have gone missing in those woods right?" He grabbed her mug and turned towards me.

"I bet you the last girl that went missing ran away."

"Why do you say that?"

"I would run away if I had something to run to." I laughed a little

"You really think this town is that bad? Why don't you just move then?"

I let out a loud sigh. "It's not bad. I love the cabin that I live in and it would be hard to find that somewhere else for a decent price. It's just that I get sick of the looks from some people who think I'm cursed or something." I walked out of the office and towards the front desk to get the system up and running before we opened. Heather followed behind me.

"Well you chose to live in a once abandoned cabin in the middle of the creepy woods. Everyone thinks you're crazy OR one of the creatures that lives in the woods, but in human form." She nudged me as we both laughed. As I worked on getting the computers up, Heather unlocked the front door. The morning was pretty quiet as it usually was. I walked up and down the aisles making sure things were picked up and in their proper place. Once I had walked the entire library a couple times, I headed back to the front desk and grabbed a book that I had been reading, one of our new arrivals. I hadn't realized how into the book I was until I heard someone in front of me at the counter. I closed my book quickly and jumped up.

"I am so sorry. How can I help you?" I put on my brightest smile as I finally looked up to the person in front me. He had dark hair, almost black that was starting to curl over his ears and even covered his eyes a bit. He was striking to look at and I knew that I had never seen him before, and yet, he felt familiar to me. His eyes were a dark brown as they started right through me.

"I want to borrow this." He placed the book on the counter and then looked away from me. His voice was low and seemed to echo through me.

"Sure, do you have a library card?" He turned towards me only for a moment.

"No." Then he turned away from me.

"Well I can get you set up for one. Can you give me your name?" I got the computer ready to add a new lender.

"Nevermind." Then he walked away. I leaned over the counter a little watching in confusion as he walked out the door.

"Who was that?" I heard Heather behind me.

"No idea." I then turned to the book he placed on the counter and saw that it was a cookbook. One of the new ones that we had on display as soon as you walk in.

"Well if you don't ask him out, I might." She leaned against the desk looking at the front door, biting her lip. I pulled away and grabbed the book I was reading.

"Go for it."

The rest of the day was uneventful as we closed up and I headed back home. It was only about 5PM, so I had plenty of time to explore a little bit of the forest before it got too dark. As I got home, I put on my light sweatshirt from the night before and laced up my hiking boots. Placing the map and some water, along with some snacks, I put them in my backpack and walked outside, making sure to lock my door.

I started walking in the opposite direction I did the previous night taking in the sounds of the forest. This area was particularly thick with trees and a little hard to get around, but still beautiful. I walked for about an hour when I found a small stream. I stopped and sat down by the trickling water. I took out my map and marked the location of the stream when I heard a twig snap behind me. I jumped up and turned around not seeing anything directly behind me. I scanned the thick trees as I saw the outline of brown fur. A wolf. I became scared at first, but then felt calm.

"Hi. You can come out. I won't bite." I laughed a little at what I had said and then crouched down. The wolf slowly came out from behind trees and looked right at me. It had dark brown fur mixed with some streaks of black. It's eyes were yellow as it started to slowly come towards me. I noticed that it was putting less weight on one of its front paws. It was hurt. I pulled out some jerky that I threw into my bag and held it out towards the wolf and just as I had hoped, it came closer to me and slowly took the jerky from my hand. As it ate, I reached into my bag and pulled out the first aid kit I always had with me. I sat on the dirt right next to the wolf and reached out my hand slowly to pet its head. I could tell it was more frightened of me. Thankfully, it lowered its head and allowed me to pet them. I scratched my fingers on it's head and ears and noticed how it started to roll on it's back loving the scratches I was giving them. That was when I noticed this was a boy wolf.

"It's nice to meet you. I see you are hurt. I'm just going to grab your paw ok?" I shifted a little closer and was surprised that he didn't try to move at all. I slowly lifted the leg that seemed injured and found a small thorn stuck in his paw. I grabbed my tweezers and pulled the thorn out. He yelped a little as I pulled it out.

"This is what was hurting you." I held up the thorn. He stood up and nuzzled his head against my neck. I laughed and started petting his back, but he quickly pulled away and started growling at something that was behind me. I stood up and turned around to see a man walking towards us. He was holding a shotgun and dressed like someone who was hunting.

"Evening. I wasn't expecting to see anyone out this late." The wolf stood right beside me and growled at the man approaching.

"I could say the same to you. It's a little late to be hunting, isn't it?" I reached my hand down and ran my fingers through the fur, hoping to calm him down.

"Never too late for what's in these woods." He smirked towards me and then glanced at the wolf next to me. "Beautiful dog you got there. Almost looks like a wild wolf I see running around these parts, killing my livestock." I was getting a bad feeling about this man especially since I had never seen him in town and I did not know of other farms in the forest.

"This dog has been in my family for a couple years now. Doesn't leave my sight or my house. Sorry about your animals." I continued to pet the wolf and felt him calm down just a little.

"Is that so? Well where is your house? Close to town?" He took a couple steps closer to us and as he did, I backed up, letting the wolf stand in front of me.

"You don't need to know where I live. Now, if you don't mind, my dog and I are going to head back to my house where I'm sure my husband is waiting for me." I slowly picked up my bag, not taking my eyes off the stranger.

"Alright. Well, be careful. You never know what or who you might come across in these woods." I noticed a smirk start to grow across his face.

"Ya thanks." I turned to leave and then tapped my thigh. "Come on boy. Let's go home." We walked for about 5 minutes before I turned around and didn't see anyone behind us. "I didn't have a good feeling about that guy. What about you boy?" The wolf growled in the direction we came from. "I didn't think so."

We kept walking back to my cabin as the sun was beginning to fade beyond the horizon. "So I don't know if you have a family or a group you hang out with but I have food at home if you want some. Consider it a thank you for being my bodyguard." The wolf ran in front of me a little bit and looked really happy. "I'll take that as a yes." I chuckled a little at his reaction. "I really hope you have some friends or family. I know I told that guy I have a husband waiting for me at home, but it's just me. Here's a sob story for ya. Alanna Fredrickson grew up in an orphanage and was able to emancipate herself at age 16 to live on her own. No idea who her real parents are and don't care to know. She grew up learning about the world around her and sticking to herself...it's safe that way." I sat down for a little bit and pulled out my water bottle from my bag along with some more jerky. The wolf sat down in front of me as I tossed a piece his way. "I found this town about a year ago along with my small cabin. Thankfully, you don't need to have a degree to work in a library." I winked towards the wolf. "I should name you. Hmmm...how about Jack?" I watched as the brown ball of fur started licking my hand and nuzzling me. "Jack it is then!"

We continued to walk and finally arrived at my cabin. I took my shoes off and left them on the porch. "You stay here, no dogs inside." I ruffed up the fur on his head as he sat patiently on my front porch. I grabbed a couple bowls filling one with water and the other with some hamburger that I had cooked up along with a couple slices of bread. Wolves like meat and carbs right? I brought the bowls outside and set them in front of Jack. He scarfed down the food as I sat on the top stairs looking out into the forest. I heard a howl not far in the distance and Jack perked up his ears and looked out in the direction of the sound. He came up to me and dug his nose into my side.

"Time to go huh?" Without really thinking I placed both my hands on his head and kissed his forehead. "Go on home Jack." I gestured towards the woods in front of us. I watched as he ran into the thick trees. I saw his brown fur disappear and thought that I saw another wolf, the one who was completely black was there once again. I walked back inside and locked the door behind me. I hope he has a great family that takes care of him. I stripped off my sweaty clothes and started a load of laundry as I hoped in the shower.

A week had gone by since I saw Jack. I kept a bowl of water on my porch and would leave some food every now and then just in case he wanted to visit. The first night I left food, it was gone in the morning along with the water. As the week went by, I found that the food was still there. I don't know why, but I actually missed Jack.I missed a wolf! I still hiked about every night and never saw him. I kept to the same area I did the night I met him in the hopes of running across him as well as finding this supposed farm that was out here somewhere, but never found anything. I even asked Heather if she knew of anyone having a farm or land with animals living in the forest or even the nearby town and she was not familiar with anyone.

I had a late night at the library and was heading back home. It was already dark so no hike for me tonight. As I parked my bike and was about to walk inside, I stopped. I always lock my door before I leave and I noticed how it was open a little bit. I'm not stupid so I immediately turned around and walked back down the stairs heading for my bike. I put my helmet back on and felt my heart start to beat faster and my breathing quicken. As I started my bike and was about to drive away, I was pulled from my bike and thrown to the gravel.

A/N: I couldn't wait any longer and had to start sharing! I really want to know your thoughts on Werewolf lore and if you have ever read any other Werewolf FF.

I already have quite a few chapters written and I am really excited about this story! I hope you all enjoy it.
