She suffered under the weight of her own exceptionalism, I know she did. Over and over she had to show up to the promise of her own potential.

VLADIMIR / julia may jonas

The women of the MORRIGAN family all had one thing in common; they were never great enough. A constant judgment they held over themselves.

The first Morrigan woman ran away from home and all things her family's legacy entailed—sacrificial magic and a thirst for power. Born and raised in New Orleans, Claudia Morrigan wanted out as soon she learned there were better places out there. Places where she didn't have to be the prophesied witch and carry her family's burdens. Places where she could be free of her husband's torment and raise their little boy on her own. Places where her little boy could grow to be safe of her family's gnarly hands. Places where there was no one that knew her name.

It was all of this that brought Claudia to Chicago during the peak of night life—the roaring twenties. But her past didn't stay so far behind and things didn't work out quite the way she planned, it all caught up to her.

She died, knowing she was never great enough.

But her little boy, he made it out. He had to, otherwise who would carry the Morrigan name?

(Who would continue the cycle of violence and tragedy?)

Then, came the second Morrigan woman, Margot was crushed under her family's expectations of her and was responsible for her own demise. She chased after greatness that she could never hold within her. She thought herself more than she really was. A game maker turned pawn.

She associated herself with dangerous company. They convinced her that no one else saw her greatness—her potential. They were the only ones to understand her, they said. Her family could never see what she was working for, they'd be blinded by the violence it entailed. Margot had to do it alone—and alone she did it, and alone she died.

They realized her greatness was only a facade; a facade they believed because Margot believed it as well.

The third Morrigan woman—well, her fate was still undecided. She remained an unwritten book with pages begging to be filled. She had magic within her, the type that went centuries back. Born into two ancient bloodlines: MORRIGAN & BENNETT. She had what those before her didn't.

Eva had to prove herself. The women that came before before her did not succeed; so she had to. It was her cross to bear.

The day they found her, it was as if all the stars aligned and all the prophecies turned out to be true. It was upon the belief that EVA MORRIGAN might finally be great enough, if not greater than the stories could foretell.

📌 if you like generational sagas & codependent female friendships in literature + girls choosing revenge over being the bigger person, then this book is for you. this book deals a lot w how ppl perceive other ppl. very family centered. questions about morality & what it means to be a good person. so it gets existential at times. there's also a cult of witches and a lot of lying, like too many lies that the trust issues become serious.

📌 finally, this book has klaus being the villain in EVERYONES lives.

📌 some things to note if u read the previous version and (miraculously) still remember what happened: there is no "curse" plot on ana. like there is but it's gonna be COMPLETELY diff. Ana and Klaus are still together, their marriage is a little diff tho. Eva is getting her storyline more fleshed out + she has her mom around now.

📌 ao3 tags: what if the answer to everything was revenge / no one knows how to be the bigger person / every relationship is dysfunctional / with a slightly better side romance between best friends / caroline is sapphic / but she can't admit it / angst. a lot of it / no one's ever really happy / anaklaus as tomshiv / relationship status: it's complicated / i mean they certainly aren't stable / a lot of references to a lot of media i love

📌 i spent a lot of time fleshing out Eva's family background + how it connects to Ana & the Mikaelsons, so this better be worth it. it'll be told through flashbacks & present time (TVD S2-S3)

📌 idk how long i want this story to be or if i want to venture into TO at all. i just know i don't wanna deal w the mess that is tvd s4 xx

📌 enjoy !!! & vote if u liked
