. . .

"I still don't get why we have to move." A boy in the back seat of a small black car complains one last time, leaning on the window sill as he watches endless trees pass his view.

"We've told you this Jaemin. Your father and I have new jobs here, and that means new opportunities for more money and new people. Plus, you never know. Maybe you'll find someone and be best friends!" The boys mother exclaims.

Jaemin groans, not wanting anything else but to go back home.

Na Jaemin is a basic 14 year old. He likes video games, going outside, sleeping and hanging out with friends. However, people around him would say he was a very quiet and small talked kid who didn't like getting out of his comfort zone. Jaemin didn't, he wanted to stay in a place for as long as could with the same people until the world one day said it's his time to go. Though, that's not how it went for him. Just two weeks ago his parents told him they were moving down to Daegu. All Jaemin could do was be sour in his attitude while they sold the house and packed their things; getting on the road as they didn't want to fly.

Jaemin never really had any close friends, he didn't want them. He just wanted people to talk to when he was bored or had something to share. He didn't believe in life long friends or soulmates, and truly didn't believe love was meant for him. Though, if his deep dark soul had to admit it, he wants to find the feeling.

"We're here!" His father announced, breaking Jaemin out of his thought state.

Jaemin blinked for a moment, taking in the buildings they were driving by. It was a small, classy town with some graffiti here and there. There was a lot of dine-in places and Jaemin spotted a candy shop. The town looked pretty old with the vines and old shops, and the roads weren't finest. The people who walked the sidewalks were either young or very old, no in between.

"Isn't it so cute?" His mother asks, wide eyed as she took in the landscape.

"Cute would be a overstatement." Jaemin mumbles, going back to leaning on the window with a sour look.

Jaemin opens his car door, getting out to look at his new house in front of him. It was the size they bargained for, and was surrounded closely by other houses that looked just like his. They were just different shades. It was more tall than wide, and the door was a plain brown. There was barely any front yard, and Jaemin looked behind him to find that there was an identical house in front of them. He was not amused.

Walking inside while his parents grabbed their stuff, he looks around at the bare walls and hallways. It was so empty it felt eerie, and you could hear the creaking of wood in the house once in awhile. Jaemin peeked in at the kitchen and living room, then found the stairs up to his bedroom. Walking up them, he enters a dark hallway. There was simply a small window at the end that gave no light whatsoever.

'How dull.' Jaemin couldn't help but think.

He found the door to his bedroom, and opens it to hear a loud croak. Jaemin frowns upon having a loud door that reminded him of a toad. Walking in, he felt the space up and looks over to the window he had. He looks out it, feeling almost disappointed as all it showed was another window. He scoffs and decides to plan where his bed would go, along with everything else.

He runs back downstairs to see that the moving truck was already parked upfront. He got back into his car, sitting in the back seat as he stared at all the men moving his stuff inside his house. After awhile, he yawns as he lays down on the seats. He decides to take a little nap to let the time pass, not going to help. It wasn't that he didn't want to, he was just lazy when it came to that type of stuff. He was more into reading books and sleeping.

It was before dark when he was awoke by his parents, sitting up as his mom shook him softly.

"Your rooms ready, but we placed all your clothes and extra things on your desk. Come inside." His mother explains, keeping the door open as a tired Jaemin gets out.

They both make their way inside the house, and this time Jaemin looks at how everything placed itself together while he was asleep. The walls were no longer bare, but covered in framed pictures of all their family photos. He smelled food from the kitchen, which still had some small boxes here and there of plates and bowls. It was filled with the essentials however, there was a paper towel racket and their tiny fridge was plugged in and filled with his parents wine already. He also noticed that his pantry was full of boxes of their food, which he knew his parents would ask him to un-box.

He then looks over to the living room which had their large couch and carpet. He noticed they already got their tv hung up and the dresser was below it holding the remote and volume box. He couldn't help but feel the small insuring touch of home with all their stuff here.

He ate dinner with his family, that consisted of chicken and peas, and after that it was pitch black outside. Heading up to his room and turning on the lights, he took in where everything was placed. His desk was right beside his closet, and his bed was on the side his door was. His window now had curtains and his rug was placed in the middle of his room. He had to admit, the arrangement was something he could get used to.

He decides to get ready for bed, but before he could go into his bathroom a sudden noise stops him in his tracks. He turns to his side where his window is, where the sound came from. Another noise and he realizes rocks are hitting his window. Walking over with furrowed eyebrows he hesitantly opens his curtains, only to see a boy on the other side in the window next door. The boy waves with a small smile, and Jaemin slowly waves back. The boy then gestures with his hand to open the window, and Jaemin thinks for a moment before opening it.

"Hi!" The boy greets first.

"Hi." Jaemin says uneasily.

It was hard to see the boys face or figure since it was dark, but judging by the others voice he was around his own age. All the light source they had was from Jaemins room.

"I'm Jeno." The boy introduces himself.

"My names Jaemin." Jaemin does the same, unsure where this conversation is going.

"How old are you?" Jeno asks curiously.

"14." Jaemin says shyly.

"Oh cool! I'm 13. I saw you just moved in today. Where you from?" Jeno asks.

"Seoul." Jaemin tells him, leaning over his window now as well.

"Oh wow. Why did you come to daegu?" Jeno inquires.

"My parents got new jobs here." Jaemin admits.

"Well, it's kinda boring here. We could be friends though!" Jeno suggest excitedly.

"Sure." Jaemin agrees.

In Jaemins mind, Jeno seems not his likely friend at all. Jeno seems to be bubbly and outgoing. Jaemin, however, is none of those things. He doesn't know how this will end, but one thing for sure is he doesn't plan to be this boys friend for long. He doesn't want any new friends, he has friends. Does he like them? No. He doesn't like anybody, nobody feeds his taste. That's why he doesn't like new people, because their all the same.

"Jaemin! Time for bed!" His mother's voice echoes through the house, and Jaemin replies with a quick 'ok.'

"I have to go." Jaemin tells Jeno.

"Ok, night!" Jeno says, and they both wave bye as they close their window.

Jaemin closes his curtains, sighing as he knows this is going to be a long summer break.
