An entry for the Flash Fiction Picture Prompt

An angel snuck down to play with her woodland friends. A fairy introduced her to the Red Devil who crept up to meet his elf pals.

Years later, they were caught and forbidden from meeting ever again. One night, their friends helped them escape and together they glided in the moonlit sky. Their love burst but the world below was ablaze. Broken hearted they untangled and flew away forever.

The elders impressed by their sacrifice let them meet one day a year. Now no inferno burns when the witches, goblins, and ghosts roam free while skeletons drink beer taking selfies.
