Karan found Gold by the river again.

Gold stared at the murky brown water, lashing at the shore.

"We'll join them soon," Karan told his friend quietly.

"Do you ever think that we made the wrong decision?" Gold asked softly.

Every night when I lay in bed. Karan thought to himself. He repeated the thought to Gold.

Gold flinched and closed his eyes, "It's almost over with."

A cold wind blew through the forest and the river calmed to a simple flow.

"She told me it's today," Gold said.

Karan felt his heart race.

"It's weird knowing the day you die," Karan muttered.

"It's more of a step forward."

"But it will be without them."

"It's for the best."

Karan clenched his fists. And turned away. Cold claws traced his back.
