Well, here goes nothing! Welcome to my first story surrounding the boss and assistant trope! This book will follow the Hot Encounter LGBTQ contemporary vertical, and will serve as a test run.

This story is partially inspired by the movies 'The Proposal', 'Blue is the Warmest Color', 'No Strings Attached', and 'Imagine Me and You'.  Also by 'Ugly Betty', but that's mainly because that's the only show I've watched that revolves around fashion and cruel bosses LOL.

The name 'Mylène Seydoux' has been inspired by Léa Seydoux, one of my favorite French actresses. Mylène will be one of my favorite characters to write, especially from the perspective of Alaina who will probably be the most similar character to me, so please, if she does anything stupid or whatever, don't be harsh on her.

I've been wanting to write a story like this for some time, and I hope you guys will enjoy it! There will be a lot of adorable and swooning scenes between a rich CEO and a struggling, partly broke assistant. I had 5 chapters written for this story back in January 2024, but I wasn't allowed to publish it until now. However, a lot of things have been changed and rewritten since I've improved a lot on my skills since then!

As always, this story will contain bisexual representation. While there are serious and dark themes, it will still contain plenty of fluff and light, funny moments.

This story will contain mature themes such as: explicit scenes, profanity, and there might be some mentions of drug use, that's about it.

Each chapter will have a relevant trigger warning at the beginning, but as of now, I don't plan on having any TW aside from spicy scenes (of which there will be a decent amount).

Synopsis

When CEO Mylène Seydoux moves in and stages a fake relationship with her assistant Alaina, Alaina doesn't expect to find that there may be more to her cruel boss than she thought.

Working for a brutal boss was the last thing Alaina wanted to do, but the salary is too hard to resist. When a bug infestation pushes CEO Mylène Seydoux to move in with Alaina, both their worlds are disrupted as rumors swirl around them. And one way to deal with that problem? Stage a fake relationship with a hefty bonus which will help Alaina save her grandmother's house. Alaina accepts the deal, but things become complicated when the money is not the only thing that is irresistible.

Mylène Seydoux's reputation as a cruel, workaholic CEO precedes her. Moving in and striking up a fake dating deal with her mousey assistant is not part of her plans. And to make matters worse, that same pretty assistant manages to stir up feelings that Mylène has kept buried deep for years.

Fake blurs into reality as their dating deal slowly combusts into a passion neither one of them wants to escape. Will they be able to handle each other's worlds for a chance at something real?
