Something Among The Pranks

I don't own Percy Jackson or the Avengers
                              Tony POV

I decided to check out some of the prank blueprints, just checking if there was one intended for me.  Also, I want to do the one against Pietro.  Looking through them, I find that there's a prank for everyone here except Peter and Wanda.  Wow, no need to play favorites, Cass.  But, these are good pranks.

There's one that covers Clint's bow and arrow in gold glitter, and another one that involves a fake spill of nail polish on Bruce's computer.  Even one that moves my rolling cabinets around and around so I can't find them.  That one says that Peter helped come up with it, however.  There's also a map of the vents, which I put back in her room.  The vents here are big enough for a fully grown adult to climb through, and Clint has claimed them as his territory.

There's spots marked on it for potential pranks, and notes where all the access points are.  Even though I just found her strategic prank list that has multiple pranks targeting me, I have to be proud of the ideas.  What is intriguing is the blueprint at the very bottom.  A rough sketch of a suit.  Like my Iron Man suit, but with wings and a tinted shield covering the eyes instead of a mask.  The color scheme would be blue and gold, with a gold sun on the hip where a strip of blue cloth would attach.

This cloth serves no purpose other than looks, and the gloves have small retractable blades attached.  A note reads:  Channel powers?  Must practice more.  Metal may conduct heat from hands, use plastic.  Light travel in combat not possible unless practiced more.

An odd note for sure.  I guess that light travel is the teleportation that occurred last night.  I take another sip of my coffee.  Bucky arrived a few hours ago, him and Steve have been inseparable since.  They are totally into each other.  So her powers do create a lot of heat.  And she hasn't practiced a lot with her powers.

At the very bottom is a name.  Starfire. It's pretty cool, better than the one I made up all those weeks ago.  Too bad she isn't here for today, we're launching a ton of fireworks and throwing a huge party.  We could also use another Avenger, since Clint is planning on retiring to take care of his kids.  We won't have him for missions anymore, but he will help in case of a world ending threat.  And anyway, collecting more people with powers like that is good.  Better that they work for good than become evil.

I have nothing to do anyway. Might as well make it, and give it to Cass as a offer to join the Avengers.  I get to work, gathering the materials I need.  Strong but not able to melt.  I have just the thing, I was working on it for a while.  I didn't really know what I was going to use it for.

Letting a robotic cutter shape the material into what I want, I start working on an AI.  If Peter and I can have one, so can she.  They're really useful, and I don't want FRIDAY to have to work twice as hard.  There was nothing mentioning propulsion systems, but that stuff is way beyond what an 10th grader should know.

The wings looked like they were modeled after the Falcon suit, so I'm assuming that's the type of propulsion required.  I think I'll make the decorative piece detachable, because it isn't that practical in combat.  I have a lot of backup AIs, so I think I'll put one of them in the suit.

I have to wait for the suit to be finished before I can do anything else to it, so I decide to head to the common room. It's empty, except for Wanda. It's about 7:00 AM right now, I got an early start to the morning. I didn't even try to listen in on her conversation, but it just happened.

"So you need HOW many sparklers? Okay, but you'll have to come pick them up.", she says. I can't hear who is on the other end, but apparently they need sparklers. "Wait, you're sure you want everyone to know? Ok, but make sure to keep calling me, I've been tasked with making sure you're alive. Bye, Cassie.", she adds. Wanda told us that she has Cass' number, so we tasked her with calling the kid every day.

I wish we knew where she was, but Cass is stubborn. And so is Wanda. Even if she knew where Cass was, she wouldn't tell. Also, does Wanda know that Cass has powers? Before I can think more on this, a blinding white light fills the center of the room. Out of this light, a figure appears, and promptly collapses.

"Well, careful, I'm a bit hot!", the figure says. The light dies down, revealing Cass. "Well, I guess I have a bit of explaining to do. But I'll have to be quick, I have to leave at 1:30.", she remarks. Her eyes are tinged with gold, and the room is still oppressively hot. She sits up on the tile floor. "So, I can teleport. It's quite draining, but I didn't want a long drive.  I'm here for some sparklers and other 4th of July stuff.  I know you bought a lot, so do you have any to spare?", she asks.

"Well, yeah, we have some, but you'll have to answer some questions.", I reply.  "Ask away.", she says.  "First off, how did you get your powers?", I ask.  "I've always had them.", she replies.  "Do these friends you're staying with have any powers?", I ask.  "Nope.  They do know I have powers, however.", she replies.  Good.  I was getting worried that there was a group of these people.  We don't need THAT many teenage Avengers.

"Alright, final question.  Who are your friends?", I ask.  "Well, I've got Jess, Rachel, and Olivia from New York City, and a whole mess of friends at Long Island where I'm staying. We're throwing a big 4th of July party and nobody wanted to go buy things. We have fireworks taken care of, we just need the little things.", she says, standing up.

"Follow me, I have something to show you.", I say. We walk to my lab, where the suit is ready, just needs coding for the functions. I'm using nanotech like it said on the blueprint, the whole suit coming out of a sun symbol on the chest. This symbol is pretty small, able to be worn on that beaded necklace she always wears. "I take it you found my blueprints?", she asks.

"Yes, I did. Don't worry, I'll prank Pietro for you. And the rolling cabinet idea is pure genius, even though it was intended for me. I think you'd be a good addition to the Avengers. And no, it's not just favoritism talking. We'll start training when you come back. Don't worry, only Bruce, Steve, me, and apparently Wanda know you have powers. You'll have to tell the rest of the team, of course. Maybe get that out of the way now, while everyone's here?", I say.

"Might be a good idea. I was the idiot who light traveled, so I must tell them. And the blueprint was from a crazy dream I had of being an Avenger, so I decided to draw what I had seen for fun. The suit looks beautiful, by the way. Is it ready for use?", she asks. "When you come back, it'll be waiting for you. I'll call a team meeting, we'll be in the meeting room.", I reply.

A few minutes later, everyone starts filing into the meeting room, which has only a table and chairs. We haven't used it much since Ross tried to force the Sokovia Accords down our throats. The whole team is still rather divided, but we're slowly getting better. Wanda and Vision are the only ones who have completely reconciled with each other.

Cass skips into the room.  Yes, she skipped.  We're all in a pretty good mood today, but what  is so good about her day that she's skipping?  "The kid has returned for a few hours!", she says.  "Wait, how did you even get here!", Clint asks, incredulous.  "I light traveled.", she replies, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"You what now!", Natasha says, walking into the room with a mug of coffee.  "Teleported using light, duh.  I've always been able to do it.  I'm surprised you didn't catch on already, super spy lady!", she replies.  "Show us, please!", Peter says.  She obliges, letting her hand glow a little.  "I'd do more, but I have to save energy for the trip back.", she states.

"Also, third favorite genius over here made a suit for me.  If something goes wrong with it, it's his fault.  It looks like I'll be joining you guys. It's good that I've always wanted to fight crime and save the world, so I guess all that's left is to tell that mysterious Fury you guys keep talking about.", she announces.

Third favorite?  I am officially her least favorite genius.  There's only three geniuses in the compound, excluding her.  Those are Peter, Bruce, and me.  She's on the border of genius.  Fury is gonna be annoying.  If she's away when we tell him about Cass' powers, she'll have a swarm of agents at her doorstep.  I'm not that much of a party pooper.

"I wouldn't tell Fury just yet, guys.  You know that he'll never let us hear the end of it that we let someone with powers and a less-than-perfect view of authority figures leave unsupervised.", I announce to the team. "I'm surprised you think so low of me! I'll have you know, Mrs Cook from 9th grade Honors Biology was awesome!", Cass fires back.

"Really! Because I saw you slap a teacher!", Peter says. They go to Midtown High together, just one year apart. "Only because he was treating Olivia like a two year old!", she argues. "Is this the same Olivia that punched Flash in the face? Because I still owe her a chocolate bar for that!", Peter asks. "Yes, she is! And since you're graduating next year,  you better be quick about it, since she's about to charge interest!", she replies.  As they talk in a louder volume than necessary, we sit awkwardly.

They stop after a minute, and we get back to the logistics of a new Avenger. We discuss things for like two hours, including rules and a reminder to not commit any war crimes. That's a given with all Avengers. We would have asked for a demonstration of her powers, but she said that her powers are incredibly draining and she needs the energy to get back to where she's staying.

"Alright, it's been fun talking here, but I need what I came here for.  4th of July is not complete without the little stuff you occupy yourself with until it's firework time.", she announces.   Steve walks to the garage to grab some of the stuff I bought at the fireworks shop a week ago.

He returns with a bag full of sparklers, and not the cheap kind either.  Being a billionaire, I can afford the good brand for everyone.  We bought a lot of these because Pepper and Morgan are coming over, as well as Clint's family.  We definitely bought way extra, however.  "Thank you!  You wouldn't happen to have any of those spark fountain things, would you?", she says, lifting the bag across her shoulder.  "I sure hope these don't ignite on the way back!", she joked.

Steve, Vision, and Wanda disappear into the garage/storage room again.  They return with a few boxes of fountains.  They shoot colored sparks a few feet into the air, and sometimes they explode.  They also brought some firecrackers and Roman Candles, my personal favorite.  "Wow, you really shouldn't have, guys!  Thank you so much!", Cass says, ecstatic.

I just realized this, but she lives in the city.  Cass has never had the joy of lighting off a firework.  That's just sad.  "You should stick around for tonight, it's always awesome!", Wanda says.  "I can't, my friend Olivia is coming to meet us, and we have to set up the party.  Maybe record the fireworks?", she replies.

"Will do, Cass.", Wanda says. "Well, I should get going if I want to be on my feet by the time my friends arrive.  See you in a month!", Cass announces.  She stands in the doorway, and bursts into light.  A wave of heat surges out from the spot where she once stood, the only sign being the missing bags of fireworks and two burn marks.
