Chapter One
you don't have to explain anything

3rd Person POV

Kamari had no idea where she was, one second she was outside fighting bad guys and then she was out like a light. when she awoke, she looked around but she didn't see anything. it was bright, the room was white and it was spacious. she didn't know what to do and she was scared but she wouldn't show it.

"oh you're finally awake" she heard and she turned to see a man standing in the doorway as he stared at her and looked her over. the bruises were now beginning to turn purple and the cuts had healed overnight.

"Who are you? where am I?" she asked and the man walked over as he sat down next to her and looked around the room

"it's alright, you're safe now. I'm dick grayson" he introduced and she laughed under her breath. she didn't want him to hear it but he did.

"yeah yeah get the laughs out now. this is the titans' tower but you will be safe here. I know who you are Kamari, you're Ivy's daughter. why do you fight bad guys when your mom is one?" he asked and then she heard a female voice

"dick, don't harass the girl. let her breathe" the girl said and Kamari smiled thankfully at her. the women looked the same age as dick

"you're donna troy" she stated and donna nodded

"come with me. let's go look around and get used to this place. I think you'll find it comfy and welcoming" donna said and Kamari stood up and she walked out of the room with donna and they began to look around together. Kamari kept walking until they got to the training room and she watched two boys begin to train together. she laughed as one of them got hit on the head and they both turned to her

"Who are you?" the boy asked and kamari shrugged.

"kamari and you?" she asked and he smiled at her softly

"Jason, it's nice to meet you" he stated and she smiled

"Likewise," she told him and then she turned to see a girl walk in with dick and they both looked at her

"I see you've met gar and Jason, how are you finding your way?" dick said and kamari looked around

"pretty good" she exclaimed and he smiled and nodded.

"dick who is this and what does she have to do with the team?" Rachel asked and kamari looked at dick who shrugged

"show them what you can do," he said and she looked around. she found a plant that held lilies and she lifted the plant. she closed her eyes and began to let the flowers wrap their roots around her arms and around her. she then used it to shoot them out and hit a wall. they all turned and looked at it before they looked at her

"that's what I can do"

"I like you already" Rachel stated and kamari laughed with a soft smile. she felt at home and then someone spoke up

"wait for kamari, you're..." gar lead off and she nodded

"poison ivy daughter? yeah that's me," she said and dick sighed as she looked around and they all stared at her. she didn't feel at home anymore

"I'm going to my room" she exclaimed and she left as they all watched her. she felt the stares as she walked to the room that had her name and she looked around. she knew that she had to go back home and get her things but she didn't want to. she didn't want to go back home, she didn't want to see her mom anymore.

"let me guess, you ran away?" Jason said as he leaned against the door and she turned to him. she sat down on the bed and nodded

"moms a psycho, I did what I had to," she told him and he nodded

"you don't have to tell me anything. you don't have to explain anything, I get it" he stated and she smiled at him as he smiled back

"so you're robin?" she asked and he nodded.

"And you're moonflower," he said and she shrugged

"That's what I'm told" she stated and he laughed before they heard someone and they both turned to see dick standing there smiling at the sight of them. he knew that they could bring out the best in the other and he was prepared for that.

"whats up dick?" the girl asked the man and he shrugged at them.

"there's something you two should see" he said and they all walked out of the room and into the living room. kamari sat down next to jason as they stared at the tv together and watched closely.

"Who the hell is that?" Rachel asked and Jason spoke up

"a total badass, well next to kamari," he said and she laughed as she nudged his shoulder and they watched the tv as the girl jumped

"ill be back," dick said and he left the room as kamari sighed.

"Does he do this a lot?" she asked and they all nodded

"how do you think we all met?" gar said to her and she laughed with a smile on her face and then she nodded. she felt Jason's hand brush hers and she smiled softly at the feeling. she had just met him and yet she felt like she had known him for years.

"yeah I guess you're right" kamari exclaimed. she then got up and walked to her room. she stared at the picture of herself and her sister. she missed the girl dearly but she knew that staying here was her best bet at safety and that's what she needed.

she didn't know what was happening outside of the room, she didn't know what they were talking about but maybe she didn't. maybe she didn't need to know what they were saying, kam knew who rose was, she knew her family and her life and everything but if rose didn't want them to know then she wouldn't say anything.

kamari knows what it's like to be the product of someone that shouldn't have kids. the product of someone who treats themselves and everyone around them badly because they don't know what else to do. they don't know how to be a parent, how to treat kids, and how to make them feel loved and cared for.

rose was the same as kamari, scared and angry and leaving what they knew because they couldn't do it anymore. they couldn't take the torture and the pain and the anger. they couldn't live in the circumstances that they did and if leaving was the best thing that's what they would do.

they weren't the same person but they were handed the same life. one with an abusive mom, one with an abusive dad. two kids that were drowning , the water was taking them under, they couldn't breathe. the air was coming out of their lungs it wouldn't hold them, they were cold and dying

but they had each other. or did they?
