The Begining

Brooklyn awoke, still seeing Katie snuggled up near his side, and he gave a small smile. She had stayed with him through the whole rest of the night, and he was immensely grateful to have somebody like her to be with.

After they left the hospital wing, Brooklyn and Harry had met up with Cedric's parents, who thanked the brothers for returning their son's body to them but wouldn't accept Harry's prize money.

The Tri-Wizard Tournament had once again been cancelled, and Brooklyn was glad about it. No other student needed to die over eternal glory. Karkaroff had disappeared, too, and Brooklyn now wondered if Voldemort had found the coward and killed him.

In the Great Hall after breakfast, Dumbledore had delivered a funeral speech for Cedric Diggory, even saying he had been murdered by Voldemort, but forbade any of the students to ask the victims of him no questions about what happened in detail. Brooklyn cast his eyes about, noticing a few of the students, including one Hufflepuff named Zacharias Smith, just shaking his head at Dumbledore with mistrust. He had even looked to Brooklyn, and giving the gargoyle a glare, and even fear, as if he was afraid of Brooklyn and Harry's 'sanity'.

Everybody then raised their glasses, drinking a toast to Cedric. Brooklyn vowed to never forget the boy who had been one of the few to not hate him or his little brother during the tournament.

Afterward, Dumbledore had pulled Brooklyn aside in his office.

"Brooklyn, I know you have been waiting to return to your clan, and I'm sorry that I've been taking too long to help figure out Puck's spell. But I think I found a solution for you to be able to go back right to Castle Wyvern, if you're ready," he said in a soft tone. Brooklyn's eyes widened at the idea of actually being able to go home at last! But...

He immediately thought of Demona, who was still with Voldemort, and his promise to Harry's parents. Brooklyn then decided that he needed to stay a little longer, it just wouldn't feel right to go home now, not with Demona and Voldemort on the loose!

I'm sorry, Goliath, but I have to stay. I hope you can be strong without me a while longer; he thought sadly before speaking.

"Sir, I really appreciate that you've kept your word about finding a way home for me. But-but I don't think I can go home yet. I can't let Demona get her claws on this place and destroy it, not like my old home. This is one castle I won't let fall! And my brother still needs me, especially as of right now!" He then declared, feeling the old fire in his heart and eyes return, hands clenched.

Dumbledore looked surprised, but his eyes shone with gratitude.

"Oh, Brooklyn, this means more to me than you'll ever know, but whenever you need to go home, just tell me, and you'll be able to. But as of this moment, I have a place for you to temporarily stay at Grimmauld Place, an old residence of Sirius Black's family, now that Voldemort is on the rise, the Leaky Cauldron and the Burrow won't have the highest protection. And Harry still needs to be at the Dursleys for the time being."

Brooklyn stared. "Professor, I really don't like the idea of Harry staying with those so-called relatives of his again, even if it is only for the first part of the summer! I wanted him to stay with me for all of it so they wouldn't find him!"

Dumbledore continued to gaze at Brooklyn. "It's the best thing for the moment, since Lily's protection charm is still on the residence. I must ask you to trust me on this one, Brooklyn."

Still feeling quite frustrated that Harry had to still return to the Dursleys, he reluctantly nodded. That was when he thought of something else, something he should have done before the Tri-Wizard Tournament started.

"Sir, if I may make a suggestion, I happen to know there is a clan of gargoyles living in London. I met one of them one time, while Goliath was on his World Tour with Elisa, Bronx, and Angela, and I think they wouldn't say no to protecting a new castle that has young children living in it. I can message them the situation with Wyvern, and they can meet up with us, for they probably already learned from my clan about my disappearance, and they would be happy to know I'm okay."

Dumbledore nodded. "That would be great, to have extra protection here at Hogwarts with your friends. But please, don't tell Harry about Grimmauld place yet until it is the right time."

Brooklyn tensed at the idea of keeping another secret, but this time, it had been Dumbledore's idea, not his own, something he would eventually be able to explain to Harry later, so he nodded.

Brooklyn then proceeded to write his letter in the Owlery on the last week of Hogwarts before they left, his nerves jolting at the idea of seeing the London Clan again and having more gargoyles here.

To the Gargoyle Clan of London:

Hi, it's me, Brooklyn, I wanted to write to you to tell everybody that I am okay, even with Puck removing my stone sleep. I have been living at Hogwarts magic school for three years, protecting the people here, including a young human boy whom I now have a trusted brotherhood bond with, Harry James Potter. The reason I am writing to you now is that I encountered Demona. She joined a powerful Dark Wizard named Voldemort, but the wizards here call him You-Know-Who. He is very dangerous, and threatens to kill my brother and I, along with destroying Hogwarts Castle. I'm begging of you to come and help me protect this place. It was the only castle with humans to accept me for who I am, and I don't want Demona to destroy it like Wyvern. If you do come, meet at #12, Grimmauld Place, the House of Black, and meet a man named Albus Dumbledore. He is the head of the group, the Order of the Phoenix. I will explain everything else about Puck's spell whenever I see you.

I'm looking forward to seeing you all again, and if you are able to, please let my clan know at home that I'm not dead, but alive and well.

Your friend, Brooklyn.

Brooklyn read his letter over multiple times, and decided it was satisfactory. He folded it, and wrote the address on the envelope, giving it to Wyvern.

"Take this to London, boy, as quick as you can," Brooklyn then told his owl, who hooted importantly, taking off into the sky, carrying his letter. He gave a sigh of relief, happy now that he had been able to finally contact somebody he knew here.

Hagrid had also informed them he was going to be traveling with Madam Maxime for the summer, on a secret mission for Dumbledore, when the friends visited him on their last day, and Brooklyn wished him luck on his journey. When he finally remembered to mention that Charlie said that Norbert was a girl, Hagrid did a double take, dropping his glass of dandelion juice, and it took him, Harry, Ron, and Hermione to lift him off the floor to his bed to sleep off the shock.

Everything was then packed, and ready to go on the Hogwarts Express back home. Brooklyn was with his friends saying goodbye to the foreign students, including one Fleur and Krum.

Fleur called out to them, saying one more goodbye, and Gabrielle even gave Brooklyn a hug, saying thank you for helping her in the Second Task.

Krum had also shaken Brooklyn's hand after speaking to Hermione. "I-I just vant to say thank you, Brookleen. If you hadn't knocked me out, I vould have killed Cedric, instead of You-Know-Who." His head hung in shame from letting himself being put under the Imperius Curse by Crouch Jr.

Brooklyn shrugged his shoulders. "I only did what I needed to do to protect this place, and I kind of did know that you were under a spell, because you wouldn't have attacked him if you weren't. So it wasn't your fault, Krum."

Krum grinned. "Call me Viktor, Brookleen, and I hope you turn up to my next Quidditch game, no extra charge for you and your friends. All ticket costs are on me!"

The gargoyle smiled back at him, while Ron just had his mouth fall open, his eyes shining at the idea of free Krum Quidditch games!

"I liked Diggory," said Krum abruptly to Harry. "He vos alvays polite to me. Alvays. Even though I vos from Durmstrang - with Karkaroff," he added, scowling.

"Have you got a new headmaster yet?" said Harry.

Krum shrugged. He held out his hand as Fleur had done, shook Harry's hand, and then Ron's. Ron looked as though he was suffering some sort of painful internal struggle. Krum had already started walking away when Ron burst out, "Can I have your autograph?"

Brooklyn rolled his eyes, chuckling as the horseless carriages came, taking them all to Hogsmeade station.

The weather turned out to be quite sunny and clear on the ride back to King's Cross. Harry, Brooklyn, Ron, and Hermione got a compartment to themselves, Pigwidgeon the little owl was covered with Ron's dress robes so he didn't cause such a racket, and Hermione revealed how Rita had been getting all those stories: she was an Unregistered Animagus and could turn into a beetle. For she had caught Rita outside the hospital wing window that night.

Brooklyn stared, wide-eyed at the beetle who had the same markings as Rita's glasses.

The beetle buzzed against the jar walls angrily, with Hermione saying she would let her out when they got back as long as she kept her quill to herself for a whole year, when the compartment door slid open, revealing Draco Malfoy.

Brooklyn glared at him, feeling his head throbbing. He could never forget seeing his slime of a father that terrible night in the graveyard. How they had not expelled him yet, he would never know.

"You've picked the losing side, Potter! I warned you! I told you you ought to choose your company more carefully, remember? When we met on the train, first day at Hogwarts? I told you not to hang around with riffraff like this!" He jerked his head at Ron, Hermione, and Brooklyn. The gargoyle reacted sharply, eyes flashing.

"Shut up, Malfoy!" He snarled, gripping his wand tight.

"Too late now, Freak and Potter! They'll be the first to go, now that the Dark Lord's back! Mudbloods and Muggle-lovers first! Well - second - Diggory was the f-"

To his shock, an explosion of spells rang in the air, leaving their rivals on the floor, their faces reacting to a multiple of spells, that greatly disturbed him.

It had been the twins that had done work on them, including Harry. Brooklyn helped them roll the boys out of their compartment, then was entertained to the interesting card game of Exploding Snap.

I should probably bring a pack of these cards home and play a game with Lex one day, Brooklyn thought after their fifth game, and even Katie joined in with them on their third one. He also had to say he was getting good at this game!

As they exited at last onto King's Cross, Brooklyn gazed over to Harry, who had handed his winnings to the twins for their Joke Shop. He couldn't wait to see it when they were open for business.

He gave Harry a goodbye hug after joining with the Weasleys, telling Harry he would look forward to seeing him later, but made sure to keep Grimmauld Place to himself for the moment.

The Weasleys were informed of that house, for they were to move in the first week of July.

Brooklyn prayed now that whatever came next, he would have allies behind him this time who would hopefully have received his letter, and that he wouldn't be the only gargoyle fighting in this new war against his two big rivals, Voldemort and Demona.
