Searching for Brooklyn

It still wasn't going so well back at home with the clan. Everybody had been rather stressed, and Puck cursed Oberon silently for limiting his magic, still unable to find the red gargoyle.

Angela found it hard to not think about what her 'brother' was doing to him, even after consoling with Lexington those days ago, often leading her to looking out the window almost every night, waiting for his return.

Broadway burned three dinners, and claimed cooking wasn't the same without Brooklyn there.

Baby Alex had cried quite a bit when Brooklyn was gone, for over a time that gargoyle had also formed a bond with the little one.

Xanatos himself never really worried about anything in particular except his child and business. But then, he had to admit with Brooklyn gone, it was a tad duller than normal. His eyes narrowed as he remembered his monster, Thailog; hating himself for creating him almost every day.

Lex was mad at Puck for not progressing faster. He struggled to keep Angela's words to heart, but nightmares about Brooklyn being dead bothered him endlessly, pushing him to the brink.

"I'm doing my best here, and one of those things is concentration!" he had shouted at Lexington for the fifth time in a row.

"Well, it's not good enough!" Lex cried bitterly with raw grief, then Hudson took him gently by his arm out of Puck's way.

"I know you're worried about Brooklyn, lad. So am I," Hudson said in a tired voice, bags under his eyes. He loved Brooklyn as a son, and hated Thailog for taking him prisoner. Lex couldn't speak, feeling himself lose it and allowing Hudson to hold him, Bronx whining and placing his head on his lap.

Meanwhile, Goliath searched endlessly for Brooklyn, even visited the Labyrinth and informed Talon of what had happened. Maggie was terrified at this news, and Claw looked ready to cry, though he couldn't speak.

The clones heard, too, and Malibu, Brooklyn's clone, was furious, even trying to convince Goliath that he could come and help fight Thailog for Brooklyn's freedom.

Goliath shook his head. "You are brave, Malibu, but I don't want Thailog to steal or kill you too."

Malibu frowned. "But I owed him from our first fight and when I hurt him!" he protested.

"You can help Brooklyn by keeping your eyes out for him here, in case he escapes on his own." Goliath ordered. Malibu lowered his head, then nodded.

Goliath returned before sunrise, looking out over the city.

"Where are you, Brooklyn?" he asked softly, the sunrise coming up. A tear fell as he turned to stone, sliding down his stone cheek and also having a grieved expression on his face.
