It was a stormy night in the Troll Village. Poppy was visiting Branch earlier, but as soon as the storm started, he pulled her into the bunker allowing her to spend the night. He knows she wasn't too stupid to walking home in the rain. Not to mention, there's also thunder & lightning along with the rain. Branch checks on her & noticed that she's quiet than usual. She also seems a bit distracted as well. Branch couldn't read her that good since she's always bubbly & happy. So, he decided to walk up to her & ask.

Branch: What's wrong?

Poppy: Huh?

Branch: You're not acting like yourself.

Poppy: Nothing's wrong.

Branch: *thinks: I can tell she's lying* You sure?

Poppy: Yes, I'm fine.

Branch: Alright, whatever you say.

*A few minutes later*

Poppy has been quiet ever since the storm started. Branch can tell there's something wrong, cause he's never seen her this quiet before. He couldn't put his finger on it, but his guess is that she hates thunderstorms. But, there was a different reason. Being alone with Branch makes her really nervous. She didn't know why, but she has never been a lone with Branch before. Poppy was in Branch's room trying to calm down, but her fear of thunderstorms keep her from doing so. Little did she know, Branch was right behind her.

Branch: I know something's wrong.

Poppy: There's nothing wrong, I promise. *thinks: Why is my heart beating so fast? I've never felt like this before....*

Branch: You know, you're really bad at lying.

Poppy: I'm not lying. Nothing's wrong.

Branch: I don't believe you.

Out of nowhere, Branch pinned Poppy on his bed holding her wrists down. Poppy was shocked about what just happened, she didn't even get a chance to think.

Poppy: *thinks: Whoa, when did he get so strong?!*

She tried to get out of his grip, but he was too strong for her.

Branch: Poppy, what's going on with you?

Poppy: Nothing!

Branch: Stop lying.

Poppy: I'm not lying!

Branch: Then, why are you trying to look away?

Poppy:.......

Branch: *notices how fast her pulse is going*

Branch started leaning in closer to her. Poppy closed her eyes tightly hoping that he wasn't gonna kiss her all of a sudden. She didn't feel his lips on her, so she opened her eyes.But, she did feel him on her chest & her face flashed red.

Poppy: B-branch? What are you doing....?

Branch: Shhh, try not to speak.

Poppy: Eh....?

Branch was resting his head on her chest. He could hear her heart beating so fast. For some odd reason, it calms him down. Poppy can't help but blush in embarrassment, she doesn't even know how to react to it.

Branch: Poppy, you have a beautiful heartbeat~ ♡.

Poppy: N-no, I don't.

Branch: You do it me. It's so peaceful.

Poppy didn't know what to do. Her body refuses to listen to her.

Branch: There's no need to be nervous around me.

Poppy: What....?! I-I'm not......

Branch: There's no need to hide it from me. *listens more* Your heart's beating even faster.

Poppy: .......

Branch: Let me stay here a little longer, please.

Poppy knew she couldn't say 'no' to him, so she just stays quiet. Branch couldn't help but smile, he loves the sound of her heart. If he makes her nervous, he would get her alone with him everyday just to hear her heartbeat. To him, her heartbeat is the sweetest sound he has ever heard. For the first time in his life, he found peace with the love of his life ♡.

Branch: I love you♡.

Poppy: <////////< I love you too.....♡

Thump, thump. Thump, thump.

I lie my head there on your chest

and find my absolute favorite place to rest.

And I've been tested many times over in my quest for peace,

but I never would have guessed I'd find it so quickly with you.
