*poppy was hanging on a cliff and was struggling to hold on*

*Poppy's grip gives out and she falls into the dark abyss*

*Branch was walking past her pod when he heard her cries*

Branch: Poppy...

*He ran into her pod and saw her squirming and whimpering*

Branch (whispering): Poppy! Wake up!

*Poppy wakes up with a scream and holds her blanket close and looks at branch*

Branch: What's wrong? are you-

*Before branch could finish his sentence, poppy jumped into his arms and cried into his shoulder*

Branch: hey, shh shh shh it's okay baby girl, it's okay

*he held her close as he rubbed her back to try and comfort her*

*after a few minutes, her cries were getting quieter, but clung to branch, never wanting to let go of him*

Branch: baby, what's the matter?

Poppy (Choking up): I- I had a nightmare

Branch: Do you wanna talk about it?

Poppy (Sniffling): mhm...

Poppy (Sniffling): I was stuck on a cliff, I tried to call for help but no one could hear me and I fell off the cliff and I was so scared of what was happening an- and I didn't know why you didn't come to help me a- and *whimpers trying to talk and more tears start falling*

Branch (Softly): *places a finger under her chin* Shh shh shh shh, hey it's okay...stop crying, everything's alright *wipes a tear off her cheek with his thumb* don't worry, I'm right here, I won't leave your side as long as I'm alive

Poppy (Whimpering): Y- *sniffles* You promise you won't leave me?

Branch (Softly): I promise my precious flower, I'll stay right here to keep you from having any more nightmares

*poppy smiled and snuggled closer to branch's chest as he crawled into her bed, laying down next to her, pulling the covers over the both of them*

Branch: G'night baby cakes

Poppy: 'Night branchie

*Soon poppy fell asleep in her boyfriend's arms without any more nightmares interrupting them*
