"No, Jeongguk. I'm kinda glad that you said it. I would've just raised my hopes if you didn't." Taehyung informed in a low voice, totally broken.

He had fallen hard for the other after all those moments and sweet talks, he was head over heels for him. He was so into him. Now all he wanted was Jeongguk to get serious too but probably it wasn't happening any time near.

But Jeongguk wasn't to blame entirely either. He hadn't been in a long term relationship and that too this was the first time dating a boy.

Yes, it was stupid of him to say what he felt like that, out of a sudden but was he even sure about that? He liked Taehyung more than all the girls he have dated in the past.

His outburst just made Taehyung feel like he ain't good enough. He said it multiple times that he wanted something long lasting but because of Jeongguk's words, all he could think of was his best friend just played with his feelings.

That he was just a summer fling.

Jeongguk said all those because he was scared of getting into something long lasting. He was actually just very dense and so stupid.

"Tae―" Jeongguk was cut off when the other pulled away from the hug and pressed their lips together for a second before moving away.

"I understand what you are saying and it's fine―" the red head's voice broke due to the tears he was trying to contain in, "―Can you please leave?"

"Look I am not angry or anything, just need to think about some stuff." Taehyung pushed the other away who nodded, "Baby."

"I meant to say that till now, I didn't feel like we can be that long lasting couple but in future my mindset can change right? I was so stupid for even saying all those." Jeongguk massaged his temple and looked down at his lap to which Taehyung hummed.

"No need to explain." he slowly pushed him away that broke Jeongguk to his core.

"Leave me alone, please. I embarrassed myself enough."

The week passed by Taehyung staying a little distant from Jeongguk even though the other tried to talk to him but he just replied with plain yes and no.

They kissed whenever Jeongguk wanted but Taehyung didn't take any initiative first.

"We will miss our train." Taehyung whispered breaking the kiss and Jeongguk who was sitting beside him nodded.

"Tae―" Jeongguk grabbed his boyfriend's wrist as he was about to walk away.

"Yes." he replied shortly, smiling a little that kinda seemed force to the other.

"We can tell our parents about us if you want." Jeongguk said, he had been thinking about how he can fix this thing he messed up that day and thought this was the best way.

But Jeongguk didn't know that Taehyung wasn't mad. He was just disappointed― at himself for giving his all in this relationship, for pouring his heart out for Jeon Jeongguk.

"Hey, no. You don't need to do that, okay? Just because I wanted that." Taehyung smiled pushing the other's hand away.

"Taehyungie, please. I'mma face it, enough being a pussy. I am dating you so we can tell them."

"But you don't need to. For just a relationship like us that's gonna be over soon, you don't need to start a fight with your parents."

"But―" Jeongguk was cut off by the other who knelt down and pushed his pointer finger on Jeongguk's lips.

Once he saw Jeongguk stop talking, Taehyung pulled his finger away and cupped his cheeks, he moved upwards and pushed their lips together.

Jeongguk smiled softly in between the kiss.

It was a short and sweet kiss when Taehyung pulled away, "You are the most beautiful thing I've ever experienced Jeongguk, but sometimes relationship don't work the way you like right?"

"What do you mean, baby?"

"It's all gonna be good between us, we are gonna be bros like we used to be okay? We can hangout, cuddle, watch porn―" Taehyung let out a chuckle but stopped when he saw Jeongguk's eyes getting glassy.

"What do you mean?" his voice broke when he tried to keep those tears in.

"What do you mean Tae?" Jeongguk repeated.

"I meant we can't kiss anymore, we can't do the things we did." Taehyung remembered that night. The night, his feelings got concrete.

Was it early to say that he was kinda in love with his best friend? Well, yes it was but he would die to keep them together for a long time― more like a lifetime, so early doesn't matter.

Who can predict the future? No one can but Taehyung wasn't asking Jeongguk to do that either, he just wanted him give him his all when he gave his own.

But when Jeongguk can't even think about them together after a year or, then it's all useless. Everything was turning vague and Taehyung didn't want to fall any deeper.

He didn't want to fall for Jeongguk any more, more than he already did.

"Why? We are boyfriends." Jeongguk argued and the other nodded.

"Yeah now hear me out."

"I don't wanna be just for some months. I've fallen for ya and if we continue this, it will hurt more and I don't want that."

"What do you propose?"

"That we should break up."
