Hoseok looked at the small plastic tree in the living room and hoped this wasn't going to be too much. He loved decorating for holidays, and he especially loved decorating for Christmas.

However, this was going to be his first Christmas with his boyfriend, the two of them taking the step to move in together only a month prior.

As he peered at the tree, Hoseok was so anxious. He knew Namjoon had trauma that was associated with Christmas, so he would never dream of pushing the holiday on him, but he still wanted to make today special and fun.

So Hoseok had chosen cute decorations that weren't actually Christmas themed. The small plastic tree was purely white, and the ornaments were shaped like donuts and lollipops, which were colored soft pastel pink and blue. Beneath the small tree was a tiny box, wrapped with blue paper.

It wasn't much. Hoseok was definitely used to decorating a lot more, but he didn't want to overwhelm his boyfriend. For the mood, Hoseok turned on some classical music, keeping the volume low.

The thing that pulled his attention from his thoughts was the sound of footsteps padding closer to the living room at a sleepy pace.

"Seokie?" Namjoon had clearly just woken up and found his lovely boyfriend missing.

Turning his gaze to the doorway, Hoseok held his breath, hoping so hard that Namjoon wouldn't get upset about the tree. It was so little, only three feet tall. If Namjoon didn't like it, he could easily put it away.

Namjoon entered the living room and stopped in his tracks when he noticed Hoseok and the tree. "What is this?" He didn't sound upset, just confused.

"Um, well, I know you don't want to see any Christmas decorations, but I still wanted to do at least a little something. I got you a gift too." To avoid misunderstanding, he clarified immediately. "It's not a Christmas gift. It's an I-love-you-and-want-to-have-a-fun-day gift."

"But, Seokie...I didn't get you anything." Namjoon had been unaware that his boyfriend was going to give him a gift. And since he personally didn't celebrate Christmas, it hadn't crossed his mind to buy a gift for Hoseok.

With a small wave of his hand, Hoseok retrieved the tiny box from beneath the tree. He knew Namjoon wouldn't want to get near the tree, despite the sweet treat ornaments. "That's okay. This gift is actually for both of us."

Namjoon was feeling extra soft as the box was held out to him. "Do you want me to open it now?" he asked as he accepted it. He didn't want to just assume.

"Yes, go ahead." Hoseok watched as Namjoon carefully tore the blue paper and opened the tiny box. Inside, there were two tickets to see Namjoon's favorite orchestra.

"These are so expensive, Seokie." Namjoon was definitely surprised.

"I bought them in advance for the first January performance." Hoseok knew that the orchestra would only be doing Christmas music right now, so he had needed to get these tickets in advance.

Namjoon held the tickets to his chest and couldn't hold back the smile that overtook his lips. "Thank you. This means a lot." Still, he did feel a little bad for not buying a gift for Hoseok. "I'll buy you a gift soon. I promise."

"You don't have to, but I'll love anything you get for me." Though it was just a small celebration between the two of them, Hoseok knew he could be happy with this.

Having tons of decorations and getting into the Christmas spirit was nice, but having a happy Namjoon was so much better.
