Alice Kim is aware of how much of a cliche she is.

Poor little rich girl... she has everything but love. It was true, seeing as both of her parents were in charge of the most successful magazine in the world, Moderne. It was bigger than Vogue and Elle, given how influential it was. And it was because of her parents that Alice grew up with everything she could ever want. She always had the best clothes (her mother was editor-in-chief, there was no way she could leave the house in anything that cost less than a thousand dollars!), drove the nicest cars, went to the best schools, etc. But Alice was lonely, neither of her parents actually loving her the way she craved. Her mom never wanted her and she made it known, quick to tear Alice apart whenever she could. Her dad was cold, prioritizing money and business over his family. And all of that loneliness and cruelty eventually made Alice grow up to be equally cold hearted and overall, just a total bitch.

Now an adult, Alice was the current editor-in-chief of Moderne and she was doing a fantastic job of keeping it a success. But her personal life was totally shit. Her love life was just about nonexistent, the woman engaging in flings and short affairs. But it always ended up with her alone, exactly the way it should be. Alice wasn't capable of love and stable relationships. She was destined to be alone so she wouldn't be able to hurt anyone else. But it was all beginning to take its toll on her.

Watching from the sidelines was her best friend, Roman Roy.

They had known each other since high school, initially having met through one of Alice's dumb boyfriends at the time. Despite the boy's inappropriate humor and snarky attitude towards anyone with a pulse, Alice stuck around and became one of the few friends Roman ever had. So naturally, they were close. Roman tolerated Alice to the point where he even liked her, even if he'd sooner saw his own arm off than admit it out loud. As did Alice who was too stubborn and prideful. The both of them were quick to make fun of each other and tear each other down, just to build each other back up the best way they knew how. The both of them were fucked up and in desperate need of love, even if they had no clue where to find it.

When his dad ends up nearly dying, Roman is still trying to grapple with the fact when he's bestowed the title of COO. He can't turn to his girlfriend, Grace, who he's currently on bad terms with. The only person is Alice who was admittedly terrible at cheering people up and a bitch to just about everyone around her. Alice, his best friend, and the girl he may or may not be in love with.

✷ finally i posted my roman fic! school and everything else has caused me to slow down with updates but with things starting to look up, now i'll have more time to update. and i am finally posting this. alice and roman are deeply flawed people and incredibly messed up from their childhoods which is what helps them to be friends (and eventually lovers) in the first place. 

✷ alice, in this new and revised version, is a complete bitch but she does have her soft moments. alice and roman won't get together right away. roman's with grace in the beginning and alice will have a love (sort of) interest of her own
