Lore: Different. In every litter, half the kittens become warriors, and the other half become gladiators. The kittens who become gladiators or warriors are chosen by the leader. Gladiators are used for entertainment of the warriors. The leader arranges battles whenever they see fit. Gladiators can become warriors, but only if they win 20 battles. However, most gladiators are killed by other gladiators around the 5-10 battle mark. Those who survive their 15th battle are usually killed by the leader or with deathberries and then it is said as an 'accident'. The only gladiators that make it to become a warrior are those related to the medicine cats, deputy or the leader.

Also, the leader chooses who becomes mates with who for the gladiators. 

Kits of gladiators still go through the Test.

Gladiators lose their suffix and only have their prefix.

About: Featherkit was a soft one. Soft enough that you could hear it in her voice, see in in her eyes. Everyone knew that she wouldn't make it past the Test. So, it was to no surprise for both of her parents, Brindlemask and Stramglow, when the leader, Slatestar, chose her to become a gladiator.

Featherkit, now just Feather, was placed through rigorous training and strict regimes to learn about the harsh life as a gladiator. Everything but her heart sharpened. She was still the subject of mocking, bullying, etc. Her brothers, who were both warriors, constantly made fun of her. 

Later, Feather fell in love with a warrior, Ashfire. And despite her circumstances, he had fallen in love with Feather.

However, another tom, Lightning, a gladiator, the most brutal one of all and the brother of the leader, had also fallen in love with her and publicly declared that they would be together.

Ashfire promised that they would run away together, in three days. That would be when the night sky would be devoid of the moon and it would be completely dark.

However, Lightning could sense that something was stirring between Ashfire and Feather and on the darkest night, Lightning followed the two cats and discovered their plan. He asked his brother, Slatestar, to banish Ashfire from the clan forever.

Slatestar agreed and also said that Feather could become Lightning's mate. Feather wasn't pleased with this but because of her outspoken nature, didn't do anything, not even when Lightning forced her to have his kits. Feather couldn't take any more and turned towards her only friend, Sorrel, asking for help.

Sorrel was elderly, but the other gladiators worshipped her talent and quick-mindedness. Sorrel told Feather that she would distract Lightning for some time and then she could flee. She also told Feather to flee to the mountains. That would be where Ashfire would be waiting for her.
