CHARACTER ARC OF LAYLA AND NOORA: Layla Hameed was born in Gaza, Palestine. Her father, Ahmad Hameed, is a doctor and her mother was a homemaker. She had a younger sister. She lost her mother, Leena Mustafa, and sister, Iman Hameed, during a bombing in Gaza. This was the final straw that resulted in Layla developing Dissociative Identity Disorder, creating a second personality named Noora Mustafa to detach herself from all the trauma that she witnessed. Noora was her mother's nickname for her. Eventually, Layla and her father managed to escape Gaza and live in Jersey City, New Jersey. Her DID became more apparent when she was sixteen years old and her father took her to therapy to get proper treatment. She went on to go to college, make friends, and even get married. However, shortly after her wedding, her father died due to leukemia. This sent Layla spiraling into depression. She left her husband and went down a path of self-destruction, letting Noora front completely.
