The same fate fell upon her neighbors and friends, swept over by the walkers, flesh mangled and organs devoured. God knows how she lived, limping through the woods, torn apart by pain and coated in fresh blood. Everything was gone, the world deserted, desolate, lost in a pit of teeth and bone-eating corpses. 

But she soon met another, someone who as well still had a beating heart and life in their eyes. Archie was young, scared yet strong, and the two became true friends, allies looking out for one another. They trekked on deserted highways of dead bodies, ran in forests crawling with the things. Together they learned to sleep with one eye open, watch the other's back, and always have a finger on the trigger; all with a single goal ── to survive, not live, just survive. 

Yet soon Natalia and Archie came across others, more who breathe while fighting the dead, savoring every living day. They joined with the group of a few survivors, the pair of rogues set on staying just long enough to help search for the lost daughter of Carol Peletier. Natalia thought it would be simple, come and go as she and Archie always had, but it became so much more

They got a family once again, loving friends that made wherever they went a home. But the young woman found someone who was more than family, someone she held so close, so close in fact, that he couldn't be ripped from her arms as the others had been before. And she learned to love the living and to burn the dead.
