It all started when Dipper Pines, age 8, started seeing something. He always believed in the supernatural, and that meant ghosts.

100% he was on board with ghosts being real.

People always said to believe whatever you want, there was no real scientific evidence that they could be real or fake; it was always believe in what you want.

He knew they were real, but now it was scary-kind of real. He SAW one.

Odd enough, the neighbor of the Pines' had been murdered in their home...and since then, Dipper had been haunted by that thing. That ghost. That nightmare. It scared the heck out of him every time he saw it's skeleton, but clothed body.

The lady let a blue aura glow around her with her skeleton corpse. She just floated beside him and screamed while nobody else saw anything. Hardly he ever got sleep. Hardly he ever thought good things.

He HATED sleeping.

When the time came, he would always beg to stay up longer, he would tell his parents something might get him, but they said it was nonsense. In the middle of the night, sometimes, he would run to his twin's room and shake her awake with tears in his eyes and bags underneath those eyes.

"M-Mabel..." He would say in a shaky voice as he sniffled and rubbed his eyes. "I-I can't sleep again."

She looked at him, biting her lip and scootched over so he could slip in. "That ghost still haunting you..?" She asked softly as he got in.

"Y-yeah..." He quietly spoke as he sniffled.

That was the good thing about having a twin. They were your best friend who would never tell anyone the secrets you wanted to keep, and they would always be by your side, even if it meant the impossible, or if it was some reason nobody else would believe them for. They believed them anyways. That's what twins were for.

One day, at school, someone found out and spread it around the whole elementary school that Dipper Pines saw a ghost.

He got teased.

Really badly.

The picked on him at lunch constantly, bothered him in class while teachers weren't looking, and even while walking home(which thank god didn't happen too often because Mabel was there with him), and occasionally when they took the bus.

One day he came home with a black eye that someone had given him at lunch. If Mabel were there she would've stood up for him, but the tough thing about having separate lunches is that you had to protect yourself.

His mom had run up to him. "Honey, what happened?!"

"I-I got teased again...not just for the birthmark."

She slightly frowned and nodded as she gave her son an ice pack that he now held to his eye as he went up the stairs and slung his backpack into his bedroom.

Then it came.

Nighttime.

Time to sleep.

Time for her to come back.

Tonight, he wouldn't run to his sister, tonight he would face it like he tried to at school...because maybe if he did that, he would gain some strength.

He was wrong.

That night, it was worse than others. She screamed and cried and put on horrifying faces that would mentally scar him. He shook violently as he hid under his blankets, but when he peeked out after hearing nothing...it was a huge mistake.

He saw sharp, jagged teeth that had red liquid dripping down them. That was only a small part of it. Then there was sound effects. She let out an ear-piercing scream as she went right into his face.

He screamed in terror and cried, running down the stairs. He couldn't take this anymore. He banged his fists wildly on his parents' door.

"M-M-MOMMY!!! D-DADDY!!! OPEN THE D-DOOR!!!" He hiccuped as tears went down his face rapidly.

They did so, and looked at their child with wide eyes.

"M-mommy t-there's a g-g-g-" He started to hyperventilate, not talking well.

She crouched down and placed a hand on her 8-year-old's shoulder. "Calm down..."

He hiccuped and took deep breathes as he managed to calm down. "T-there's a g-ghost...m-mommy I don't want to s-sleep in my room."

"...Honey....it's about time you stop this ghost nonsense. There is nothing in there, you're just making things worse by freaking out."

"N-NO! T-there is!!!! P-please m-mom-"

"Honey...it's time we get you...to see someone who can help you."

"H-help?" He hiccuped. "T-to get rid of the ghost?"

"To help YOU. We're worried about you, Dipper..."

"M-mommy, I don't need h-help!!!"

"Yes, you do."

"D-daddy...?" He looked at his father.

"I'm sorry, son...but she's right..." He bit his lip.

The kid looked at them both with a distraught and heartbroken look in his eyes.

"We set you up for an appointment after school."

"B-but-"

"No buts, and off to bed, now." His mother instructed, pointing to the stairs.

He slowly nodded and sniffled, rubbing his eyes as he went to the stairs, walking up them slowly.

Mabel was standing at the doorway to her room. She knew he was going to come in there. "Dipper...?" She whispered quietly. "Are you okay?"

"Mm-mm..." He shook his head with tears in his eyes.

She opened her arms and he ran into them, hugging one-another tightly. They both weakly patted backs and went into her room. Both getting into the bed with the nice warm blankets, they turned to face each other.

"M-Mabel...I'm not crazy...r-right?"

"No! Mommy and daddy are crazy for sending you to somewhere where you don't need to go."

"I-I don't need help, right?"

"No, absolutely not." She gave a small smile. "I believe you."

Since therapy, since getting called crazy, since dealing with a ghost for a whole year, Dipper vowed that one day...one day he will prove to the world that ghosts are real; and that he wasn't the crazy one at all.
