"What if I fall?"
"Oh, but my darling, what if you fly?" - e.h

Mother always made me feel like I was more than I ever deserved. She showed me amazing things and unlocked mysteries that were beyond my comprehension.
She opened the doors to the world and made impossible things become possible with a wave of her hand. In her eyes, the world was a jewel, ready to be discovered.

And then, our world fell apart.
It started with the men.
The men in their crisp white coats would bring a letter every week for my mother.
They came over, and over, countless times.
I watched my mother grow tired and old, her hair loosing its shine, her bright eyes dulled and glazed over.
It frightened me. It really did.
The letters.... made my mother cry.
Big fat drops would splash against the paper, bleeding into the ink, making it run. Black rivers pooled on the checkered floor, always on the white tiles, never on the black.

I was five then.
I was ten when they took her away.
They told me she was going to " A place where she would get better". I knew the truth though.

They were going to let her rot in a place where happiness didn't exist.

A place where nobody's sanity was real.

Not even my mother could change a place like that.

So, I'd have to do it for her.
