Amethyst: Heyy, rev!! Before we start this interview, I would like to congratulate you on winning 1st place in the Historical Fiction award! How are you feeling today?

Dreaminginreverie: thank you, lol! I'm doing good! Got a big horse show tomorrow so I'm hyping myself up for that. How are you?

Amethyst: Ooo horse show? Doing alright!

Dreaminginreverie: yep! draft horses! super excited! That's great!

Amethyst: Hope you have a great time there!

Q: I've got to ask, how did you think of your Wattpad username? It's both unique and gives off a calming fantasy vibe.

Dreaminginreverie: Honestly? I don't remember anymore! 😂 I think I was trying to be ✨aesthetic✨ and do something with dreaming, but I couldn't think of anything so I just googled the word dream and went from there.

Amethyst: It's an amazing name 🥰

Q: A Court of Bones and Smoke was centered around royalty between the fae and humans. What did you think of the royals back then?

Dreaminginreverie: I loved them, but I also wish they could've changed some things! So that's what I did for ACOBAS!

Amethyst: What are the things you wished to change?👀

Dreaminginreverie: some of the rules for nobility were insane, especially for women! with sage being the strong-willed woman she is, i knew those rules would've definitely chafed. and considering that's all they knew back then, maybe sage wouldn't be the woman she is! So I changed some clothing rules, proprietary rules, and "rules" on what was appropriate to speak about with your fiance.

Amethyst: That's true. Sage's character might not be something that the royals can handle back in the day, especially for woman 🤔

Q: Where did you get the inspiration to write a story about human and fae royalty?

Dreaminginreverie: It was originally just going to be a book about royalty, since I'm fascinated with it, but once I researched all the rules and I realized sage wouldn't fit into that box, I changed my mind and made her side of the story completely fae. That way she has a reason for being so strong-willed, because the fae don't have as strict of rules as the humans do.

Q: Which character did you feel a connection to the most? Why?

Dreaminginreverie: honestly, i'd have to say archer! He's someone who doesn't always think about everything before he does things. Sage thinks everything through since she's always had to uphold her image by herself. Archer has always had people looking out for him, so he just says and does what he wants sometimes. It took a lot of thought to make his character, and I think that's why I connect with him the most.

Amethyst: Omg. Now that you mention it...I can also relate to archer😂

Dreaminginreverie: 😂

Q: What was your favourite scene to write in A Court of Bones and Smoke?

Dreaminginreverie: I actually have two! The first one is when Archer and Sage meet for the first time and the second is the last chapter of the book! It shows how far they've come when you compare the two, and as the author, it makes me so happy to see my babies care for each other the way I hoped they would.

Amethyst: They have all grown up so fast🥹

Q: Team Sarcher (Sage and Archer), Declacia (Declan and Acacia), or Kinik (Kitt and Nikki)? (Sorry for the horrible ship names! Couldn't think of any others, but declacia sounds nice XD)

Dreaminginreverie: sarcher is a good one actually! i've only ever heard of ship names for decacia, probably because readers knew sage and archer were canon 😂 poor nixie and kitt, getting ship names. I never actually intended for them to be shipped 😂 I was going for the brother-sister bond. ah, how that turned out lmao 😂 If I had to pick, though, I'd say decacia for me. they're the hardest to write since Acacia isn't really a touchy-feely person and Declan never had any girls interested in him, so he doesn't really know how to court girls. 😂

Amethyst: hahahhaha. A cute couple❤️. His first courting experience is with Acacia🥰

Dreaminginreverie: 🤣

Q: What challenges did you face when writing this book?

Dreaminginreverie: It was hard to slow the romance down. I knew Sage had to warm up to Archer, but I have a habit of writing enemies to lovers too quickly, so I was constantly rereading to make sure the romance was paced correctly and Sage wasn't falling into the Archer trap too fast. Acacia and Declan were also challenging, since neither had had romantic involvement before. they had to learn even more slowly than Archer and Sage, which was also extremely challenging.

Amethyst: Oohh. It is hard to write if a writer is used to writing enemies to lovers at a fast pace. It's like testing your patience.

Dreaminginreverie: 😭

Q: If you were to be a mythical creature, what would you like to be? A fae, a werewolf, a vampire, or a mermaid?

Dreaminginreverie: i'd like to be a faery, but i'd probably die in 5 minutes 🤣

Amethyst: Wait what? How?! 👀

Dreaminginreverie: any faery book you read always has crazy politics and fighting, right? Well, I'm not coordinated and my head would be spinning from all the political talk. I'd die so fast 😂

Q: What's your goal as a writer?

Dreaminginreverie: to hopefully get published one day and to have my books be portals for people who need to escape the real world for a few hours!

Amethyst: Eekk. Can't wait for that!!

Q: How do you stay motivated when writing a story?

Dreaminginreverie: it's extremely hard for me, actually! I usually just have to make time and make myself sit down and write. if I don't, I would never get anything done 😂
