Okay, so to help everyone catch up my good buddy shoguninfinite held a Waifu War Tournament and I participated. I'm here to show you my deck build which scraped just by for a 2nd placing.

Quickly, for a tournament recap, I first faced Goldinator , and that was a match that I barely won... It was Coral vs Luard. I used my first Shadow Paladin GB8 there, after his initial GB8 if I remember correctly- I lost our Area File Replay Match so I honestly don't know how I won... All I know is I got by the Priscilla by two or one card and then just went for the kill...

Second round was against amaterasuminerva . I hated that match up so much. Nova Grappler Victor vs Luard Loop. I looped too early while she was at 2 so by the time I finished looping I had burnt out and only pushed her to 4 or 5... Lets say I was lucky she didn't use Driger or Champ Victor on me, or else I would've lost. Esras was clutch and she saved me... XD I managed to defeat her somehow so yea.

Third round was against kaiishida where it was Genesis Amaruda vs Luard Loop. Esras clutch saved me and he pulled a Yudai... So I had to survive GB8 and I did. Then he went Fenrir. I survived too. Praise the Raven or however I won that fuckfest of a fight....

Fourth round was against Tsukinawa_Yukino Luard vs Fenrir. If I'm being honest, after seeing how I done against Shida, I was actually confident that I would take the win. Since this match was quite awhile back, I actually forgot what happened, so I can't say much.

Then, it was the Finals against shoguninfinite and I asked if it could've been Best of 3 to make the finals more spicy.

Luckily, I did, since Sho literally bodied me in the first round because
A) his deck responded to his feelings (WHAT WERE THOSE CRITICAL TRIGGERS BRO?)
B) the CFA shuffler was being a dick to me

He Sebreezed me for a win. If the finals were like that, I would feel ashamed...

Second round went off with a better start. RNGesus felt like not bending me over and fucking me, and I got a decent start. As always, Sho's cards were responding to his... "feelings"... and critical triggers hit me in the jaw, however, my deck decided to respond to my feelings and Thicc Abyss Healer gave me hella early heals to take away from that brutal C R I T I C A L S A C C I faced. Needless to say I done goof on a Loop turn and the following turn Sho decided to Velhemina, or however you spell her name, me with 4 attacks.

I just needed one more Esras to survive that last one dammit.

So this was the deck I used against Gold, and the deck I was currently testing at the time and what I really liked.

The G0s are simple, Gnesa to help make columns and turn 10ks into 14ks so 21k columns could be made, or make Belial Owl 8k beatsticks which could do something. Belial Owl is a must have to turn whatever you sack into a wash and just draw to dig into pieces and build a pretty good defence. 2 extra crit cause critting is fun, and 2 Stands, Cursed Eye to be exact, to make more sack fodder on the annoying turns where you can't do much. 4 Howl Owl cause draw triggers, and 4 heals cause heals. Effect heals cause I was running Jeliddo.

The G1s also simplistic, Abyssal Owl to unflip, Esras cause it's Esras (Waifu) and it can bounce back to hand and can trigger Belial Owl, Night Sky Eagle cause 11k beatstick and 2 Branwen cause stride fodder.

The G2s are even simpler, Morfessa for 14k beatstick and to help make 21k, Serva for the 10k defence/stall if needed or to poke at 10k vanguards if they run it. Grosne cause... I didn't have much else to run and Grosne can potentially become 15k when partnered with Luard's stride skill, calling out 2 units.

G3s are also simple, Luard cause he's main ride target. His free stride is actually free, and can help prevent deck out cause this was like a normal Luard deck. Grindy. Back to the point, he can spit out two Belials to draw early, or two Abyssals to unflip. It's all around great. Then there's Fodla which can bring out a field out of nothing if you face control. Spam the Belials and the Cursed Raven!

G4s are weird. I didn't run Sebreeze cause I thought I could survive long enough to beat it, but I regret that later when I tested it, which is why I changed my deck slightly.
4 Aurageyser, which in hindsight was from me not wanting to waste attacks, but let's be honest here, Doomed does more than Aurageyser does. The usual pattern was Aurageyser first stride then using Doomed after for spicy 2 crits. Did it work? Not really...
2 Doomed for what I mentioned earlier.
2 Phantom Blaster "Diablo" because it could cheese a few wins.
2 Spectral because Stride pool back then was very limited, and Spectral was a restander which means ez pressure.
Irgahn Vert because GB8 and it actually got me the win,
3 Plotmaker because it's the best Shadow G Guard by far.
1 Dizmel to protect my retire fodder from threats.
1 Jellido because flipping G Guards was new and I tried it out.

So, that was my deck for round 1. Obviously, for the next round I had to change it up since I was facing Victor. Thank god it wasn't post-Star Gate Booster Victor, because dear God... that deck is a monster.

Since Victor can shred down Luard's hand pretty easily with multi attacks, I decided to try this thing called a "Luard Loop". This was how the deck looked:

And I basically used that. The idea here is to set up two Hoel/Grosne in the front row, then abuse Raven to rest, shuffle back, and call non-Ravens and hope they were G1s/G0s. Cards like Fodla and Belial helped extend the loop by calling Ravens or drawing into them. The aim was to set up 4 Ravens in deck and when you drove check, you could restand massive rear guards.

Now, for the third round against Shida and Yukino, I used the same deck with minor tweaks.

Finally, I used this rendition of the deck against Sho.

It's basically the Loop deck without the Diablo engine. This time, you could Dragstrider Loop. Apply the same logic of the Grosne Loop, but on Gonvar, and make sure Gonvar is behind the vanguard on the Dragstrider turn. Attack with Dragstrider, and have that fat Gonvar boost. You'll make your vanguard... pretty much unguardable. Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to use this vs Sho, which is pretty bad.

Reflecting on this, I could've played much better in this tournament, and overall I'm honoured that I managed to get 2nd place.

Wait, what was 2nd place Prize again?
