In the central plaza of Higashi Mall, Takanori Yuuto, Zyriot Feirbuster and Ishima Akihiro kneel with their backs turned to each other with the lights turned off. As the lights gradually turn on, Takanori stands, raising a glowing Accel Gift, Zyriot stands thrusting a glowing Protect Gift, and Ishima stands putting a glowing Protect Gift to his chest.

The glow from the Protect Gift shines, revealing "Cardfight!! Vanguard: Generations" from the light. It shows the troublesome E Class bustling as usual, and as students disappear, a small trio remains: Takanori, Ishima and Kazuraba Yukina.

In the neighbouring D Class, it's also lively with students. As the students leave, only three are left in the class: Zyriot, Shimizu Hoshimi, and Shigeru Zenkichi.

Hikari mitsuketa kuuhaku no jikan
I found a light in a void of time

In an empty, dark room, Takanori is on his knees, wearing dull grey pyjamas. Looking up through his bangs, he sees a flickering light trickle above him.

Mayoikonda chuudzuri no sekai
Wandered into a suspended world

Takanori cups the light, staring down at it emptily. Looking up, he grudgingly pulls himself towards the larger light at the end of the room, finding himself on the rooftop of GEN Academy in his uniform.

Shinjirareru kotae sagashimotomete
Searching for an answer I can believe in

He glances at his red tie, then out onto the entire academy beneath him, watching droves of people exit the school. From the crowd, he laments on a single pink-haired bijin, Kazuraba Yukina, who is walking with her friends.

Tada samayotteru
But I'm still wandering

Takanori turns his back and walks away, exiting the rooftop and going down a dark staircase with determined eyes.

Yubi no sukima nigeru light
Light escapes the gaps in my fingers

Takanori bursts into E Class, with Mitsuba Jun following him with two large collectors case and a stupid grin. Inside the class is Jomko Akari, Nora Takayuki, Katsumi Kou, Kawaguchi Masaru, Tadokoro Yumiko and Ishima.

Yosomi shiteru hima mo nai
I don't have the time to look away

Mitsuba puts his collectors case down and everyone immediately gathers around it, opening it up and rifling through the cards. Takanori scrutinises over the collection, creating piles of cards for everyone else.

Uketa kizuato sae kate ni
Inflicted scars are my only nourishment

Takanori's surroundings turn distant and grey, falling away as the cards in his hands also disappear. He sits alone in the murky blue darkness on his seat, unable to escape the crushing reality.

Seijaku kirisaiteku
Cutting the silence to pieces

He lifts his head, snarling his teeth. Getting up from his chair, he pushes past darkness with force.

Dare mo kare mo dead or alive
This person, that person, dead or alive

Takanori flinches as he looks down at the surroundings filled with the toppled over bodies of his classmates, with the red statuses "Dead" above them.

Mamoru dake ja can't survive
By defending alone I can't survive

The man responsible for the carnage, Zyriot, stands at the other end with his army of D Class behind him.

I don't want to lie to myself

Takanori's gaping mouth grits together as he begins to navigate through the mess of bodies. As he treks to Zyriot, Takanori begins to look through memories.

Keep on the fight, get right

In one memory, he's wearing boxing gloves, punching a punching bag with all his might.

I'll never lose and cry

In one memory, he wipes his bruised cheek after getting hit in the face.

Keep run up day and night

In one memory, he's running down a mud path while soaked in sweat, and the sun setting behind him.

Time to rewrite

In one memory, he scribbles notes down furiously, turning the next page.

In one memory, Takanori looks out from the E Class docks, seeing Mikazuchi Kaido's yacht pass by, making him tighten his fist.

Kazuraba places her hands on his shoulders, surprising him. She smiles, while Takanori puts his hand over hers.

Gripping her hand tightly, he grits his teeth and shouts out to the ocean—

Eradicator, Gauntlet Buster Dragon raises a glowing fist and rushes at Machining Spark Hercules, who counters with his pincer bubbling with electricity.

Wasurete shimau koto no nai you ni
I won't let anything be forgotten

Ravenous Dragon, Gigarex launches a fury of missiles randomly onto the warzone, as Wandering Starhulk Ruler, Brandt performs acrobats around the fire, reaching her hand out and grabbing Gigarex by the face.

Nakushita mono subete torimodosu tame
I'll take back everything I've lost

Close by, Beast Deity, Azure Dragon dances around Knight of Fury, Agravain's cleaving strikes, and counterstrikes him with her spear, trying to break through Agravain's heavy armour.

Rise suddenly in this world (I don't look back yeah)

Decorous Knight, Hengist, draws his bow back aiming into the sky, while Flareblast Coyote spins through the air, launching a fiery gallows ball at him.

Grinding her feet down a train track, Deadheat Bullspike runs backwards to escape the high velocity Super Dimensional Robo, Dailiner that's gunning the villain down with a deadly assault.

Nouri ni nokotta shippai nante

End of Stage stares down at Raven-haired Ezel, roaring at him and sending a firework of attacks his way. Ezel runs into the explosions headfirst, swords emitting golden fire.

Zenbu torikaese ima turn over

Oracle Queen, Himiko, casts a magic incantation on Blue Wings of Obduracy, Simeon, forcing him to drop his sword and keel to the ground in agony.

Machining Spark Hercules looks over his shoulder to see a mass of dark purple energy headed his direction. His eyes widen as he turns fully to face his pumped up enemy.

A beat-up, ravaged, and half-dead Shura Stealth Dragon, Fuzencongo approaches Spark Hercules with a face twisted with anger and covered in blood. Opening his nearly torn up scroll, a massive purple spirit dragon rushes out with it's jaws wide open.

In the dark and empty war command room, Takanori opens his closed eyes, pointing forward and shouting orders.
