CHAPTER EIGHTY-EIGHT: THE WEDDING !

7x24 {cont.}

━━━━━━

THE FOUR HAD GOTTEN WILL TO A HOSPITAL WHERE WILL HAD REUNITED WITH JJ AND THEIR SON. The team was back at the BAU, getting ready to head out for the night.

Garcia walked down the steps of the BAU as Reid looked her way and said: "The convention's still happening tomorrow if you want to go." Garcia places an arm on his shoulder. "That whole city on the brink of destruction thing kind of took the wind out of my sails, you know?"

"That'll do it every time." Emily says. "We didn't finish the inspection." Morgan tells, looking at Emily. "No need," She speaks. "What happened?" Reid asks, mentioning Emily's new place. "Um, there is a horizontal crack in the foundation. It just weakens the entire base that the house is sitting on."

"A horizontal crack?" Casey asks. "Yeah, that does not sound good." Garcia nods.

Strauss comes in, "So, our unsub is Izzy Rogers. She'll be charged with multiple counts domestically, and our international counterparts will have their turn with her. She will never see the light of day. I just thought you'd like to know that." Morgan looks at the file that's handed to him.

"Agent Willows," Casey looks up as the woman calls her name. "A word?" Her eyes widen and her eyebrows raise in fear. She began to think of every bad thing she had done and sent all of her co-workers an eye-pleading help.

Casey and Erin walked over as the team all sat in confusion to why Strauss needed to talk to Casey. The woman looked at Casey with tears in her eyes. "I, uh... I haven't had a chance to speak with you. I sort of hit the ground running." Casey began to realize what this was about. "It took a lot of courage to confront me about my drinking. You changed my life. Thank you."

Casey Willows never would've thought to hear those words coming out Strauss's mouth. When she first met her, she thought she annoyed Strauss, mostly because she annoyed her right back. This was definitely a step up.

"I probably shouldn't even be telling you this but... I'm on the same boat. I understand the struggle. It takes and it takes and changes you. But you don't need to thank me. I'm just... glad you're back." Casey told. Erin smiles, "No, you're not." She tells and Casey smiles right back.

"Hang on, let me check," Casey looks up as her boss in on the phone and looking down at his team in front of him. "Oh, wait, she's here. Erin, don't go anywhere. Dave wants to know if everyone is free tomorrow night?" He asks.

"Well, it depends on if he's buying. Then I'm definitely in." Morgan tells. "Yeah, me, too." Emily tells and everyone else raises their hands.

"You hear that?" Hotch asks. "We're in."

"Wait, what are we in for?" Casey asks.

Hotch explains that Rossi overheard Will and JJ talking and Will proposed again to JJ. And he had wanted to plan a surprise wedding for JJ at his house. And he would be going all out for it.

"Tell Rossi I know just the caterer to help." Casey told.

Casey was lucky that April was able to string up last minute things for the wedding. Casey had been dressed up in a black turtleneck shirt and a black skirt to match. She had been getting a drink when she overheard a convo between Morgan and Emily.

"You want to leave, don't you?" Morgan asked, getting the attention of Casey. "I didn't say that." Emily told. "It's the only reason you would be this quiet, Emily." Morgan points out. "Can we please talk about this later?" Emily asks. "No," Morgan tells. "How long have you been thinking about this?"

"Honestly..." Emily paused. "Since I got back."

Casey had waited until Morgan had walked away to talk to Emily. Hotch and his new girlfriend, Beth had come in with Jack and as Morgan took Jack and Beth over to the fountain, Hotch spoke to Emily but only for a brief moment before walking away.

The girl had stopped Emily. She couldn't help but feel like maybe she was partly the reason why Emily was leaving. I mean, she wasn't exactly nice to her when she got back. "Hey." Casey started. "Hey." Emily smiled at the girl.

"So, you're leaving?" Casey asked and Emily furrowed her brows at the girl. "How did you—?" Casey interrupted, "I kind of overheard you and Morgan talking." There's a pause.

"If you're leaving because of me, I'm sorry. I wasn't exactly fair to you when you got back. I didn't understand before but... I do now. And... you didn't deserve that. I was unfair. And I'm sorry if I made you feel like you weren't welcome, but you don't have to leave." Casey tried.

Emily shook her head, "It's not you... at all. It's just... I feel like there's some part of missing and I have to go out and find it. You had every right to be mad when I came back unannounced. I just... can't go back to the way things were." She told.

Casey nodded in understanding. "I get it..." She shook her head. "I don't wanna say goodbye yet." She said. "You don't have to, just yet. You have time." Casey smiled at the woman. She loved Emily and if she loved her, she had to let her do what she needed to do.

Soon enough, JJ had discovered her surprise wedding due to her mother showing up with her wedding dress. Will had his son dressed up in a suit and Reid had offered to look after him and the rings as the couple got ready for the wedding.

Spencer had been doing magic tricks with Henry and with the rings and Casey had stood aside and watched as the scene unfolded. She couldn't help but notice how good Reid was with kids. She walked over and made a presence. "Don't lose those rings now." Casey smiled, jokingly.

Henry turned around and rushed over to his godmother. "Auntie Casey!" Casey hugged Henry back with a big hug and carried him. "Are you ready for your mommy and daddy to get married?" She asked. Henry chuckled, "Yeah!"

"Alright, your momma should be coming out any second. Let's get ready, okay?" Casey asked and Henry nodded, "Yeah!" Casey looked Reid's way. "You got the rings?" She asked. "Yeah." Reid held the box up. "Let's go." Casey carried Henry over to where his father was standing.

The wedding had been beautiful. JJ looked stunning in her dress. Her mother walked her down the "aisle" and Casey watched as JJ kissed her son's nose and Will and JJ put the rings on their fingers and the officiator married them.

Casey had shed a few tears at the beautiful sight and Reid had noticed and handed her a handkerchief. Casey smiled as she accepted and rested her head on his shoulder. Reid looked at the girl, anxious at first with her doing that but soon got used to it. And soon got sad once she removed it.

Henry sat in between his godparents at the dinner table and Casey had noticed April passing by and decided to stop her. "April!" She called over and April leaned over to hear what Casey was telling her. "You are amazing. Everything looks so great."

April smiled, "What did I tell you? Catering is definitely my thing. Also, I butt heads with your co-worker because he wanted everything in a specific order but me being me, I won that argument and look who did it. Thought he didn't agree with me with the cake because the flowers were lavender and they were supposed to be white, but I guess everything did turn out well, didn't it?"

"That's David Rossi for you. Everything's gotta be his way or the Highway." Casey joked and with that, April laughed and walked away.

Everyone had been gathered at the table and talking amongst themselves, engaged in their own conversations until Rossi had gotten everyone's attention to do a speech. He raised his glass and Casey raised her glass of champagne in the air. Everyone else had, as well.

"They say that good things happen to good people. Today is one of those days, and these are two of those people. We love you." Rossi told. "Cheers." Everyone clinked their glasses and Casey clinked hers with Reid. The two didn't even mind that Henry was sitting in between them, as long as they were seated next to one another, it didn't matter. Everyone carried on their their conversations.

Soon enough, people started making it over to the dance floor that April had set up and was glad Rossi had agreed with the woman to put up. Casey had standing alone and watched couples dance and felt content. Sometimes, she'd often felt alone but this wasn't one of those times. Her family was here, dancing in front of her, having the time of their lives. She'd wished for more of these moments with her team, where there were no criminals they had to chase or arguments or cases they had to solve. Everything they endured a couple of days ago had been so worth it because it led up to this moment.

"Hey," Casey looked over at Reid standing next to her. Casey smiled, "Hey." Reid had taken a pause before figuring out what he was going to ask her and how to form the question.

"Uh, Casey..." The girl turned over to him and Reid started avoiding eye contact. "Some good choices for potential dance partners include: someone who you know; someone about your dance ability; someone who dances a lot and with different partners; someone close to the dance floor; anyone on the edge of the dance floor—"

"Reid," Casey interrupts and Reid looks her way as Casey raises her eyebrows. "Do you wanna dance?" She asks. "Y-Yes." Reid stated, he couldn't believe starting with that worked. Casey grabbed his hand. "Okay, but... I'm in charge." She said. "O-Okay."

With that, Casey and Reid began to dance. It was slow and awkward at first but eventually, they got used to it and began to good around with twirls and giggling like idiots. Soon, Garcia and Morgan started doing what they were doing and everyone else was, too.

Casey had more than one dance partner that night. She danced with Rossi, Hotch, Morgan. All cutting in after one another. Even had a group dance with JJ, Emily and Garcia.

Eventually, towards the end of the night, she went back to dancing with Reid. Casey had looked Reid in the eye and spaced out, finding that Reid was staring at her, too. Casey looked away and rested her head on his shoulder and Reid smiled to himself as she did so.

There was nowhere else he would rather be in that moment in time. And her vice versa. They were content and were both wishing that this night would never end.
