She found both Hye's home address and the address of her death written at the back of the card with a pretty, cursive font, as if death was considered as such a beautiful thing.

She almost physically fought against the urge to rip the card and scream her lungs out, but she knew better; no hit or words would bring her back in time.

This was not how she was supposed to feel considering she chose this herself.

Swallowing a hard lump, her fingers curled firmly around the gun.

She was hours away, but still couldn't help heading towards the lake, where the woman was going to die.

The lake was situated about fifty feet down from where Aelin was standing. She guessed the woman would jump off the edge.

Right then, she heard a rustle between the trees not too far away, which made her jerk away from her spot and sprint to a hiding.

A young woman came to view, dressed in a pale yellow dress. Aelin almost believed the woman was floating, but it was just a slow and sluggish walking, as if she were already tired of life.

Aelin gasped. The woman must be Im Hye! But what was she doing here so early? Perhaps she wasn't Hye.

Aelin stood up from her crouching position. Whether the woman heard her or didn't care, she didn't break her gaze on the lake.

Aelin raised her voice. "What's your name?"

Only the breeze responded with a soft hiss. She thought she had been ignored, until a monotone voice spoke, "Im Hye."

Aelin's hand immediately shot to her belt, where the gun was hidden, as if studying her name countless times now triggered her instincts.

She released a deep breath, and pulled the gun out.

Approaching the thin figure, she stood about a forearm's length away, and watched the small of Hye's back. The woman truly didn't care; she still didn't turn around to know who cared enough to ask for her name.

The irony of the situation was so wrong Aelin wanted to tear up.

"I'm so sorry," Aelin whispered. She pointed the gun to her back, her hand shaking. Then she pulled the trigger.

Blood pooled at her feet, and Aelin watched as Hye's lifeless body fell from the edge towards the lake.
