Family Reunion

Will pulled back into his driveway, fully chilled by what happened at the school and as mentally prepared to see his stepbrother, and the rest of his family apparently, all in one place. Catching sight of both sleek black and absolutely identical cars of his "parents", he hoped that they were in a good mood.

He stepped out of the car. Not even bothering to reach over to grab his backpack, finding literally no use to bringing it back inside as he shut the car. Shoving the keys into his pocket while trying to avoid eye contact with the tiny clown head. Walking inside after a deep pensive breath.

"-for the last time Thomas, stop eating like that, you're not a starving refugee. Your flight was only two hours long." He heard stepmother dearest call out sharply as he walked down the hall. Peering into the kitchen to find her sitting at the island bar in the middle. Eyes glued to her laptop as she skimmed through something.

The fridge door was wide open. Someone halfway inside rummaging around inside of it as his stepmother greeted him without looking up. Well, sort of greet.

"Will. The school called, you weren't supposed to go in today." She said passively. Her nails clacking at the keys as she said this. The body halfway through the fridge stiffening before pulling themself out.

Will's dark eyes met Tom's. But not before landing on the cold slice of pizza hanging out of his mouth.

"Mill!" He muttered gleefully whilst trying not to drop the slice still hanging goofily out of his mouth.

"They only called the parents so I didn't know..." Will answered her as he looked at the tower of cold food Thomas had pulled out, the pizza box from yesterday, the salads he prepped so no one bothered him to cook while he was studying, some mystery left-overs and all of Will's sacred cookie dough. Not to mention a can of whipped cream and a huge liter of his dad's Evian.

"Tom, are you really planning to eat all that?" He asked cautiously as he dropped the mass of calories on the island at the center of the kitchen. Earning a hiss from his mom, Gwen, as he nearly knocked into her laptop. Scooting the device a bit away as he pulled a huge bite away from the pizza.

"Hi to you too bro. God, I missed you so much, bro. It's been a while since we even talked last bro." He mocked my lack of greeting with his mouth full. Wide grin on his face as he shoved another disgusting bite. "And a little, yeah. I'm starvingggg."

"Don't use that word. Hungry. You're hungry." His mother repeated, her matching blue eyes looking over finally with distaste. Will wondered briefly if she liked him better than her own son.

"Why is everyone so uptight here? I just got back, is not one happy to see little ole' me?" He complained. His eyes looking over my shoulder as his grin fell slack for a minute, the hand on Will's shoulder making him jump as he realized who it belonged to.

"I don't know Tom, why are you such an idiot?" Will's father, Bill, asked with a raised brow as he strode into the kitchen to join the trio, his pressed suit saying that, much like Gwen, he'd just come back from work. She tsked at his comment but made no further action on the incident. Making him grin as Thomas pouted.

"You guys are mean too. Why can't a loving family take me in?"

"Should we actually start listing reasons?" Will asked as both his father and stepmother gave a similar muted laugh.

"Mine." Will's father strode up to the food, taking one of the salads (God forbid he eat a carb) and his bottle of Evian. Also declaring: "Mine." Before turning back to his son. Pointing a finger between him and Tom as he gave his spawn an almost sadistic grin.

"Yours. Keep him out of trouble, and away from my liquor." He stated before going to a drawer, picking out a fork, turning his wife's face to his, placing a kiss on her red lips, then disappearing back into the house after it all. No doubt the last Will would see of him for the next day or three.

"What?! What am I to you people, a problem?" Thomas proclaimed as he finished off his slice. Gwen giving a sigh as she finally shut her laptop standing up as she tucked it under her arm, probably to head back to work as well seeing that the only responsible one was now home. Going over to kiss his forehead affectionately before giving him a warm smile.

"Yeah, Honey. Now be good, or I'm disowning you." She said with what could be taken as a bit of humor. Enough of it that it made Will snicker.

"I'm hurt." He pouted, her hand gently patting his cheek before she started walking off. Giving a gentle wave Will's way. Trying to be nice for once since she knew leaving him with her son was definitely something big to ask.

"No, you're not." She hummed. Leaving just after her husband. Both teens now alone after their incredibly brief reunion.

"I'm shocked, it's like no one actually missed me." He turned back to his food pile, shaking the can of whip cream before making a tower of it in his mouth. Will watching in disgusting fascination at how two years changed literally nothing about the boy.

"Would you miss you after the school charged us nearly 10,000 in damages?" Will asked sarcastically as he strode over, swiping his cookie dough tub from under Tom's sweeping hand. Popping it back in the fridge as his stepbrother laughed.

"It was only 8, don't exaggerate." He made Will roll his dark eyes, the time seemingly nothing to him as he came back almost exactly as he left. "Anyway, how's life here? Still boring and slow? Anyone proclaim their love for me after they kicked me out?"

"Oh, you know, the usual... and whoever falls in love with you is a poor, poor soul I think you'd have to apologize to." The Grayson boy shrugged, eyes cast to the ground as he took another moment to think of what was really going on. "...But. Someone did get murdered."

"Fuck. I did hear about that..." He fell a bit quiet, ignoring his insult completely, even though it would have been something more welcome for him to dwell on. "Who was it?"

The curly-haired boy leaned against the counter, arms crossed and lips pressed into a thin line. "Wyatt." He said quietly. His name striking something in him, because it wasn't a stranger. It was his friend. One he didn't want to think about like this. "You remember him?"

"Yeah." Thomas set down the whipped cream can. His monstrous appetite fading at the thought.

They both stood in place. Quiet and somber until Will couldn't stand it anymore, clearing his throat. "Did you unpack already?"

"Yeah, I only have like three shirts."

"You're lucky I've made sure you kept your room here. They wanted to make it into another office."

"Of course they did, you're always thinking of me, huh?" He grinned a lopsided smile. Watching as he turned his head towards the hall, just about to leave as if that was the end of it.

"But hey, Will-" Thomas opened his arms. Trapping the younger before he slipped away in a tight bear hug. They grew up together after all. And believe it or not, Tom did feel some sympathy for the situation his stepbrother was in. As much as nothing seemed to bother him.

"Glad to see you." He hummed. Will letting out a deep breath before hesitantly hugging him back.

"It's good to see you too." He said quietly, sighing as he let his hands fall. Tom pulling away after a bit as well.

"I'm gonna take a nap alright? Everything is still in the same place, not much has changed. And I'm pretty sure that whatever you can fuck with is locked up." Will mumbled. Walking out of the kitchen to leave his brother to put away everything he took out.

"Alright, go to bed then you, bum." Thomas waved him off. Smiling as he watched him leave down the hall. Standing as he watched him disappear down the hall, the clock of his room making him finally look down at what he clasped in his hand. His brother's car keys he took effortlessly from his pocket. The exact same place as always. He dangled them in front of his face with a small smile. Brows furrowing at the sight of the new key chain they were on, with such an... ugly charm.

"What a fucking creepy clown." He muttered before turning on his heel.
