Chapter 4

Walking through the village with Destiny and Anastasia never felt so great. Honestly, us breaking up may have been a good thing because it helped us realize that while not all relationships could be perfect, ours was definitely worth it in the end.

Destiny was the one who made me as happy as I could be. She was the one who was always there for me, and I couldn't have asked for a better girlfriend.

We got to the park and sat down on one of the benches. We normally liked coming here for the view, and because I shouldn't be laying in bed all day.

Which I totally was doing before Destiny finally convinced me to get out of bed and go outside.

I knew I shouldn't have let her move back in with me.

I took Anastasia out of the stroller and she started squealing happily before she wrapped her tiny arms around me. She then started babbling incoherently, placing her hand on my face. "Thanks, Tasie," I said. "I totally don't have to see anything."

"Oh, come on, it's cute," Destiny said.

"It is, but I still would appreciate not having tiny hands on my face," I said as I sat Anastasia down on my lap so she wouldn't be able to touch my face anymore. However, instead she decided to squeal before bringing my hand up to her mouth and biting my thumb.

Babies loved biting anything they could get their hands on, especially when teething.

"There's my favourite grandson," my grandpa suddenly said as he sat down beside me, and Destiny's grandfather Enzo sat down beside her.

"Uh, you do know you have more than one grandson, right?" I asked.

"Yes, but Declan doesn't like visiting me," Grandpa said. "I tried getting him to but he's 'too busy' with 'work' and 'school'."

I chuckled. "Yes, and he actually is busy with work and school. He told me last week he was planning on visiting but his work wouldn't give him the weeked off."

"Well, that's disrespectful," Grandpa said. "I say he should just quit."

"I concur," Enzo said. "I need to see my bestie's other grandson. I haven't for years and years. So, Daniel, how's Vanessa?"

I shrugged. "Probably drawing a mustache on a picture of me and playing darts with another picture of me on the dartboard."

"What?" Grandpa asked. "What happened and why wasn't I informed? I'm insulted. You normally tell me everything."

       "Not really, no," I said.

"Well... You still could have told me what happened," Grandpa said. "So what did you do and why is she playing darts on a poster of your face?"

I sighed. "I kind of... may have... cheated on her. And then dumped her."

Grandpa didn't hesitate before slapping me upside the head, and that made Anastasia laugh. "How dare you, Daniel?! You should never cheat on anyone!"

"I know, I know," I said. "I just got mad because she told me to choose between her and Anastasia. I know that's not an excuse at all and I should have broke up with her first."

"Yeah, you should have," Grandpa said. "Even though what she told you to do was horrible, nobody should ever be cheated on. You of all people know what that feels like."

"Grandpa, I know," I said. "And I already feel guilty."

"So, who is this horrible person who cheated on Vanessa with?" Enzo asked.

"Yeah, um... Hi, that was me," Destiny said.

       Enzo gasped dramatically. "Destiny!"

       "Sorry..."

"You better be sorry! Do you know how much pain you caused me by being broken up with Dan?! You could have told me so my aching heart would have healed! I mean... You two are back together, right?"

       Destiny smiled. "Yeah, we are."

"Oh, thank goodness," Grandpa said. "Shame on Dan for cheating, but thank goodness you two are back together. You two are meant to be and if you spend anymore time apart, then Enzo and I may die of sadness. My broken heart already felt too much."

"You two are so dramatic," I said. "And I'm starting to feel like you've been spending too much time with Calvin."

"Now why would we ever do that?" Enzo asked. "It's not our fault he's the only one in this village that appreciates drama. Now I can't wait for my grandsons to move here."

"Wait, Horatio and Kenny are moving here?" Destiny asked. "Since when?"

"Since Horatio graduated from the police academy," Enzo said. "He's getting a job in Spruceworth's police department, so they're all moving down here. I can't wait because Horatio also appreciates the beauty of drama. So any other drama going on that I should know about?"

"Not really, no," Destiny said. "But you should probably not be so invested with it."

"You can't tell me what to do!" Enzo said. "Come along, Eldon. Let's go find the wonderful gentleman Calvin who will be more than willing to tell us drama that's going on."

I snorted a laugh when our grandfathers walked off. "I don't understand them at all," I said. "They're so weird. But at least that's what makes them amazing."

"I love their weirdness at times," Destiny said. "It's amusing seeing two elderly men get so involved with drama. I'm surprised your grandpa doesn't know more since his is the mayor of the village."

I was about to say something else, but then I saw three people walking by. I really hoped they didn't notice me and Destiny sitting here because I didn't want an argument breaking out.

       They did notice us.

"Well, look who it is," Courtney said once she, Vanessa, and Alex walked over to us. "The manwhore and the boyfriend stealing slut."

"Shut up, Courtney," I said. "You're in no position to judge me."

"Yeah, and sleeping with two guys my entire life doesn't really define me as a slut," Destiny said.

"Well, you're definitely a boyfriend thief," Courtney said. "You first took Dan from me, and now Vanessa? Can't you just get your own boyfriend?"

"Seriously Courtney, shut up," I said. "It's not like Destiny is forcing me to be with her. I'm choosing that all on my own."

"Yes, by cheating on me," Vanessa said, crossing her arms over her chest.

"I know, and I really am sorry," I said. "I wasn't thinking and it was my fault. No way am I blaming you but... You told me to choose between you and my daughter. It doesn't matter if you were mad I cancelled on our date. You should have never even thought about it."

"So you're saying it's my fault?" Vanessa asked.

"I literally just said it was my fault," I said. "Were you not listening? Actually, no, don't bother. I really don't want to argue with you right now." I placed Anastasia back in her stroller before looking at Destiny. "Come on. Let's go home."
