NAMES

Okay, I'll admit, I've made some pretty cheesy and bad names . Like in "Cinderleaf's Faith" the main characters name was- as you guessed- Cinderleaf. And her mentor? Snowspeckle. The leader of her Clan- FernClan- was named Cloudstar.

There were four Clans, FernClan, MistClan, MossClan and RavenClan.

*sigh*

Also, what REALLY annoys me is that nowadays, every single wc fanfic has a name similar to theses:

Froststeps Destiny
Bloomfeather's Heart
Crowwing's Time
Oakpool's Glory
The Four
SalmonWhisker's Path
Treestar's Missing Kit
Featherstar's Prophecy
Nightspot's Dream

You get the idea
Oh, and I made up all those titles, except Froststeps Destiny, which is the first fanfic I every wrote. If theres a title similar to yours, sorry but all those are very common.

PLOT-LINE

Here's a classical short story of a fanfic:

Rainpaw walked through the forest with her mentor, Frostpelt. "You should try to catch a squirrel!" She said, very excited to have her first apprentice. "Okay!" Rainpaw said and walked over to a near-by squirrel. She looked at it as it crippled up and died.

"Great job!" Frostpelt exclaimed. Tigerstripe suddenly came through, his dark brown tabby pelt glossy in the New-Leaf sun. His tall figure was silhouetted agenst da moone. Tigerstripe stared at her with his Amber eyes starred into to hers.

Tigerstripe sliced Frostpelt's throat. "Oh no!" Rainpaw said. Once Tigerstripe disappeared from the scene, Frostpelt said, "The Rain will rule the Forest and Tiger will fail." Her eyes turned to x-eyes and her tongue stuck out to the left and her head fell to the right.
xPx
Rainpaw ran to the leader as she was suddenly placed in her camp. "Rockstar! Tigerstripe, you're deputy, killed Snowypelt!" She said. "Okay. Rainpaw, your now a warrior. Your name is Rainpelt." He said. "Yay!" Rainpelt said. "Congrats" a cat said. "Yay!" Another one said. "Rainpelt you're now my deputy. Even though you're 6 moons old. And you haven't had an apprentice. And I don't care about about Icepelt because I got a dream." He said. "Rain will save the Forest from the Tiger." The leader-whatever his name was- died and Rainstar sliced Tigerstripes throat and he died.

THE END.

So yeah, where a young apprentice is an amazing hunter, there's an evil cat, the apprentice gets a prophecy, the apprentice becomes the deputy, then leader and kills the evil, completed the prophecy and saving "the forest". And everyone has cheesy names. And a medicine cat breaks the warrior code and falls in love with a cat from a different clan.

It's all...
YUCK. No offense, of course. I mean, I USED TO BE LIKE THAT. So, for you writers who write similar stories like that, think about writing a story from the villains point of view. Maybe there's NO prophecy. Like in my book, Foxcatchers Deathless Death, Foxcatchers evil and it's from his POV. And Kestrelflight- the WindClan medicine cat (almost never do cats that aren't Medicine cats (and sometimes leaders) get prophecies)- saw a vision of a red blob surrounded by a bunch of dead blobs. On high rock. Foxcatcher is a reddish color.

And like in a different book I'm writing, there's just NO prophecy. Well, not that I know of.

Also,

SENSE WHEN CAN DAY-ONE APPRENTICES KILL BADGERS?

Sense never. So don't make your apprentices have amazing, unlimited powers. Because everyone has limits. Plus, badger don't just appear. There might a scent, a cat might report, then the leader would tell patrols to be alert. If a patrol DOES run into the badger, a first-day apprentice wouldn't have enough courage to take it on. AND KILL IT.
Even the bravest warriors wouldn't, except for Thistleclaw- but he was crazy, a close-to12-moon apprentice and the Erin's needed a reason to make a warrior. Which brings me to:

SUDDENLY CATS CAN BE DEPUTIES, WARRIORS AND APPRENTICES?

No. I've read MANY and I'd say 1 out of 100 wc fanfics FORGET that a deputy has to
A. At least be a warrior with some experience
B. Have trained or training one+ apprentices.
C. Be loyal and fitting and
D. NOT BE CHOSEN BECAUSE YOUR THEIR STUPID MATE (dead beetle....)

To become an apprentice, a kit has to 6 moons old. No younger and mostly no older.

To become a warrior, an apprentice has to 12 moons, and commonly-ish more. If the apprentice gets injured, like Sorrletail did, they will be held back if it's serious. Like a bad leg injury would slow an apprentice down. Maybe it took almost 2 moons to heal, well then the apprentice might become a warrior at 15 moons. +2 moons because of their injury, and maybe another half or so, just be has not training hard for two moons and then training hard would be a big transition.
