It was a Tuesday in the Tenth Grade.

I was fifteen.

Sitting at lunch,

Eating half a sandwich.

When my friends,

Start talking about,

What they identify as.

Their sexual identities;

Their gender identities;

All far from normalities.

How could one,

Even think about,

Liking the same sex?

It seemed wrong.

Kind of immoral.

Almost out of character?

"Disgusting," I thought.

I couldn't explain,

The audacity I felt.

While wrapped up,

In my mind,

My friends turn around,

Mutter a bit,

And ask me:

"Aria, what about you?"

I snarl slightly.

"What? Why me?"

They simply shrug slightly.

"We are curious."

"We're only wondering."

I swallow my food,

Stare dead on,

And say strongly,

"Straight as an arrow."

"Being nothing more,"

"And nothing else."

And I walk away.
