"i'm gonna go shower. you guys stay put, alright?" jimin stood up, standing up from the couch and walking through his hallway.

after he had left, it was uncomfortable for the two remaining males; the movie they were watching had ended and jimin had decided to pick that opportunity to shower. jeongguk wasn't in the mood to talk at all, and taehyung wasn't too fond of the nothingness between them and the air. they were both tired, that was for sure, but it was taehyung who was more exhausted than anything else. maybe he should've bought that cozy pillow three weeks ago.

although, it was kind of soothing in a way since they didn't have to listen to anything besides the tapping of aqua teardrops softly patting the glass window hidden behind enclosing blinds. it was serene and quiet in the darkness of the night, even through all the unnecessary background noises invading their minds. it was normal for them, but it was more than a coping mechanism or for sleep issues. there was undoubtedly more to it than that, yet their mouths could never utter the explanations flowing through their body. so, they did what they thought they could only do: don't say anything at all.

then again, that's what the two of them always thought; their minds were of a daze everyday, partly because of not getting enough sleep and because of being hypnotized by the grey clouds above. countless nights full of restless eyes and disinterested gazes already gave the impression of peculiarity in society's perspective. perhaps they both didn't mind the unpleasant quietness after all.

taehyung held an empty plate that was filled with ramen before being devoured by him, driven from the hunger in his stomach. he sighed, standing up and bringing the two empty plates to the sink and coming back to sit leisurely on the couch.

"wanna bail on jimin?"

okay, so maybe taehyung was extremely bored and tired to the point of death.

"yea."

and maybe jeongguk was in the exact same condition, but who's to blame them?

~~~
of course, taehyung decided to try and be a gentleman, writing a temporary farewell on one of jimin's many post-it notes, because he quoted himself that he was attempting to be more organized. that never really worked out since he could never be bothered to clean his room and such, so he left them on the kitchen counter if he ever needed to write something to remind himself. taehyung had the same behavior as him regardless, so he couldn't accuse him even if he wanted to. messy clothes were always spread around his room, and he was too amused from the grey skies to even give a care about his surroundings.
it's no surprise that jeongguk and taehyung are sat in the rain.
the actual surprise is that they're sat on the same bench near the clothing shop, but they don't speak of that. it's quiet again, just how the both of them like it. talking was nonexistent between them, but that had already been established who-knows-when. they were laid back, staring up at the countless spectacles of raindrops splashing onto their faces. taehyung silently reached his hand up to touch the liquid, feeling the downpour splatter onto his hand.
"do you ever think about your future?" the question made taehyung jolt, his head whipping towards jeongguk.
the former coughed, and his eyes widened at the sudden phrase. "why do you ask?"
"just curious."
the older soon got over his shock and hummed, taking a minute or two to contemplate on his answer, making sure he was wording it right, otherwise he'd be embarrassing himself. "sometimes i do, but most of the time, i don't. it really depends, to be honest."
"depends on what?"
taehyung smiled, knowing jeongguk would ask that. "i don't know, it just depends. what about you?"
"me? well, i guess it's the same as you. it depends."
"depends on what?" taehyung asked teasingly, repeating jeongguk's words a few seconds ago to try and make him laugh, but the answer he got was far more different than the one he voiced out.
"it kind of feels like i'm waiting on something, but i don't know what."
"how long have you been doing that?"
jeongguk hadn't moved an inch during their conversation, but now, as he sat up, he looked at taehyung with eyes of sorrow hidden behind a bitter smile. "long enough to know that i'm tired of waiting for it."
taehyung stared at jeongguk, confused, but before he could have a chance to question his odd choice of words, the latter stands up with bright eyes that perplex taehyung even more. he placed his soaked hands in his hoodie and turned around to peer at taehyung. it was strangely irritating to the one still sitting down on the bench, with not being able to have some sort of explanation to jeongguk's sentences and all.
"you know, i should get going."
"but the rain hasn't even stopped yet-"
"bye, taehyung." and he walked away from him again, leaving a startled taehyung behind in utter silence.
"he doesn't get it," jeongguk spoke through the phone.
"no one gets you, much less relates to you in the first place," the other person on the line replied in a joking manner.
"no, namjoon, you don't get it."
"so now you're accusing me of not getting it?"
"you know what i mean, hyung. he actually does relate to me, he's just too dense to realize that it's more than that."
"i'm his friend, jeongguk, i've spoken to him before. i can tell that he doesn't pay attention to me, just like you."
"he's just going to leave me like everybody else does. everyone does the same exact thing with me. they're curious of me, then the next minute we're friends, then the next second they're gone and i can never see them again. it doesn't work like that, hyung."
"you mean, you don't want it to work like that, right? either way, it's not going to work like that, so trust me, jeongguk."
jeongguk ignored what the older said, though some unknown part of him somewhat understood his words. "it's like a fucking one night stand, but worse."
"listen to yourself, jeongguk. it's not going to end like that, nor will it last for your entire life. sure, maybe you'll be lonely until you die, but-"
"you're not making this any better, hyung."
"your situation has never been any better in the first place, jeongguk, so i suggest you shut your mouth and listen to what i have to say." namjoon's voice is laced with a mix between calmness and anger, which shut jeongguk up almost instantly.
"taehyung isn't all cupcakes and rainbows, jeongguk. he looks happy, he seems happy, hell, he even walks happily, but he's not quite...
content. just like you."
