Your POV

It's been a couple of days since we got back to the apartment. I have to meet Cuddy in her office this morning to talk. She wants to make sure I'm okay enough to go back to work, without having my judgement compromised. Which is something I don't blame her for, she is the dean of medicine and is only looking out for me and the hospital. Getting to the french doors of her office, I knock on them, making her look up at me before motioning for me to come in.

Standing up she walks around her desk as I meet her at the couch she has in front of her desk. Sitting down on the couch as she's in one of the chairs I look at her for a moment.

"You wanted to see me?"

She nods. "I wanted to see how you were doing, I know House can be more than enough to deal with."

"I'm okay, he actually tracked me down and apologized."

"What if he does it again?"

"I don't think he will, he seemed pretty fearful he had lost me forever the first time, and if he does it again he knows I'll dissapear and never be back around. He'll lose me forever."

She gives a small sigh, she looks at me her eyes full of sorrow, her lips pursed.

"What is it?"

"You do know you sound like you're codependent of each other, right?"

"Why? Because I'm trying to believe he'll learn from his mistakes?"

"I think you're making excuses for him."

"I am not-"

"(y/n), we've both known House for a long time. He doesn't change. I don't even think he knows the definition of 'change'."

"He's just afraid of being hurt, opening up to someone and then getting hurt. He's been miserable for so long, since you let them cut the muscle out of his leg, since Stacy left."

Shaking my head I sigh before looking at her, my eyes narrowing at her. "He's scared of happiness. Change is what will bring that on."

She looks at me for a moment. I stand to leave before walking to the door, puting my hand on the handle before looking at her. "You should be happy for him."

Opening the door I walk out of it and find House at the elevator as he looks at me, his eyes lighting up slightly as he looks me over. "How'd it go in the principal's office?"

"She thinks were codependent."

He furrows his brows as he pushes the button for his floor. "Codependent? You don't fill my drugs, or make excuses for me. You certainly don't call in sick to work for me when I'm out of meds or hungover."

Shaking my head I sigh gently. It was silent for a moment.

"For a while I was worried of bringing you down to my level, of being miserable. In a way I was right from how we've been. I was, and still sort of am, sure I can't give you what you've wanted. A house, a marriage, maybe a couple of kids. Normalcy. Hell, I can hardly walk properly anymore. I-"

"House." I cut him off.

He looks down at me, his eyes sad as he watches me. Pushing the stop button on the elevator I look at him. "We can be happy with out those things. As nice as it would be to be Mrs. Dr. House. Being your girlfriend and keeping you in line is enough for me. Can't make Wilson jealous anyway."

He chuckles gently before shaking his head, leaning down to kiss me slightly before pushing the stop button back in with his cane. "I can't believe it took me so long to ask you out."

"Me neither, I think I had a thing for you for quite a while."

He raises a brow as he turns to me slightly. "You did?"

"How did you not pick up on it? House, I think I undressed you with my eyes while you wrote on the board in the office at least twice a week."

He raises his brows as he blinks in disbelief. Smiling as he shakes his head, tapping his cane on the floor as he stands there. "I did the same when you would leave my office, or when you got me coffee."

"That does explain why I had some holes appear in the back of my skirts."

He chuckles slightly as he looks at me. After we were done talking, we got out of the elevator, making our way towards his office. Blushing slightly about the spot on the floor we were in a rather, compromising positon in not that long ago. He puts his coat in his chair as he looks at me, smirking gently.

"Did that really have to be the last time?"

"Yes, you can wait until we get home from now on."

"Ugh, but Mooom."

He pouts a little and I shake my head, crossing my arms at him. His wrinkled button up he had under his blazer moving as he stands with his cane. He always wore colors that brought out his eyes nowadays, but unlike him I have more self control. "We should see what cases we have this week. Cuddy wants us to increase our billing."

He nods gently, watching me turn and walk towards the door. Stopping and looking back at him, I put my hand on my hip as I push the labcoat away from me slightly, his grip tightening on his cane as he glances up at me, reading my face.

"Quit looking at me like that and come on."

Letting his head fall he nods slightly before following me after a second. This could work. Hopefully all of our problems are behind us now.

The next couple of parts will be based around episodes of the series, so I can figure out what else to add to this.
