Hiccup's POV 

I walked back from Bucket and Mulch's farm to drop off the new eggs at the house. I walked at a slow but steady pace, jst kind of taking everything in. I know I've lived on this island all my life, but I've never explored it by foot. I've only explored it in the air. Once i got around the cliff I was near the back door. I kept walking forward towards the back door. I see no use in going all of the way around the house to the front door. I walked in and placed the eggs on the table.

"Astrid?" I called out. I didn't get a response so I strted walking towards the stairs. "AH!" I screamed as someone tapped my shoulders. I turned around and saw Astrid laughing behind me. "Astrid you scared me! I thought you were missing! And also ypou literally scared me." I said as my heart returned to a normal pace.

"Sorry Hiccup but I saw the chance to scare you and you know I can't resist one of those." She stated and stood up, still giggling.

"Yes I know you how could I not know you." I said. She shrugged and went into the kichen. "Hey I'm gonna go for a little flight wit Toothless. We haven't done any actual flying in a while."

"That means you're putting your life in danger with the stupid stunts you do doesn't it?" She said and placed the basket in a cabinet.

"Yes."

"Just be careful okay?" She said with concern.

"Oh please when am I not careful?" I said. She gave me a blank stare. "Uh, don't answer that."

"Be back in time to help me prepare Yak Nog for the Snoggletog celebration tomorrow." I got a chill as she said that. 

"Maybe we should make a few improvments on it. I mea its good but I think it can be a little better." I said nervously.

"That's a great idea Hiccup! We can work on it after your flight now go I'm sure Toothless is anxious." She said and pushed me towards the door.

"I'll be back in a bit." I said and kissed her cheek, then walked out the door.

Astrid's POV

Ok the eggs were the last ingredient i needed for Yak Nog! I should wait until Hiccup gets back to make it though. He loves this stuff! I heard someone walk in the front door so i poked my head out of the doorway.

"Oh hi Valka. What's up?"

"Oh I'm just looking for Hiccup. Do you know where he is?" She asked.

"He's out flying with Toothless since they haven't really been on a real flight in a while."

"Alright well tell him that I stopped by and when he's avaliable I need to talk to him about something." She said.

"Ok I'll tell him."

So what are you up to in there?" She asked.

"I'm making Yak Nog for the celebration tomorrow! Everyone loves it, especially Hiccup." I stated with pride.

"Oh Yak Nog! I remember when I triend that the week I came back to Berk. It was good but it needs some changes."

"Like what?"

"We could start with a little less yak. It can take over the taste of the other ingrdients. Try having more egg with less yak." She said and started going towards the door.

"Alright I'll see what it tastes like. Thanks Valka!" I said. She smiled and left the house. Hm, less yak, more egg. I could give it  shot.

Hiccup's POV

I was flying through seastacks and around the island and then I realized something, tomorrow is the Snoggletog celebration, and i don't have a gift ready for Astrid! OH great.

"Come on Toothless we have to go to the forge." I said and opened his tail.

In a matter of minutes I was at the forge gathering potential materials for a gift. I sat on m stool and thought for a second. What would Astrid like? Maybe a new axe? No she just got a new one. A new spikey skirt? No I think she likes the one she has now. I wound up my back fin and then an i dea his me. I'm going to make her a flight suit! She's always liked mine so I think she would love one for her! (A?N: by the way guys Mercy is 9 I REALLY wanted to age her up so we could have adorable father-daughter moments. :P) I started sewing pieces of cloth and heating coals for the coil. I turned around and noticed my sewing needle missing.

"Where did I put that needle?" I mumbled. I turned around and noticed it dangling from a high besm in the ceiling. I sighed. "Ok Mercy you can come out now I know it was you."

"Aw if you know it was me then that isn't any fun. What do you need with another flight suit anyway?" She said as she jumped down from a beam.

"How do you know I'm making a flight suit?" I asked.

"I read your plans for them when you were gone. And also spring coils and cloth? I'm not Snotlout." She sassed. Definitely got that from Astrid.

"Just don't tell your mother but it's her gift for Snoggletog. You think she will like it?"

"I think so. She always talks about you and your stupid stunts with the flight suit. Oh yeah she's looking for you. She's getting worried that you got hurt while you were  flying." She said and started walking out.

"Don't tell her where I am!" I shouted after her. She gave a thumbs up and kept walking. Ok Hiccup concentrate you have to finish this.

Astrid's POV

I had just finished the changes to my Yak Nog when Mercy came through the door.

"Did you find your father?" I asked as she climbed onto her favorite ceiling beam.

"Oh yeah.. I uh... saw him flying... yeah he was flying!" She said awkwardly. Yep. She's hiding something. She only does that when she's trying to lie.

"What are you hiding?" I asked blankly.

"Psh me? hide something? That's ridiculous." She said and turned away.

"Alright well since you aren't lying come try my new and improved Yak Nog!" I said excitedly. I'll have to think of a new name since it doesn't have much yak in it anymore... She jumpedd down and took a sip from the cup.

"This is actually really good! You can barely taste the yak!" She said and took another sip.

"You really like it?" I asked and did a little bounce.

"Would I lie to you?" She said. I smiled.

"Lets hope Hiccup gets home soon I want him to try this!" I said and went back to the kitchen. Then realization hit me. I have no gift for Hiccup oh thor what am I going to do! Oh wait I think I had something I was going to give him a while ago but forgot to. I ran upstairs into my room, almost tripping over the steps as I ran.

"Mom what are you doing?!" I heard Mercy shout.

"I'm looking for your fathers Snoggletog gift! I know I had it in here somewhere!" 

"What was it?" She asked from my the doorway.

"It was a really nice set of tools that I had specially shipped from a neighboring island." I said and frantiaclly ran around the room.

"You mean the tools you hid in in your special chest you keep in my room?" She said and left the doorway and walked to her room.

"Yes those ones give them to me." I said and followed her. I grabbed the box and took it back to my room. I opened it to make sure all of the tools were still there. "Ok everthing is here. I'll give these to him tomorrow morning." I said and went downstairs to see Mercy opening the front door. "Hold on you cant go anywhere without telling me."

"I was just gonna go make some stuff at the forge. You now me. Always playing around with stuff at the forge!" She said and laughed nervously. "Just like dad huh?"

"Ok fine but bring your bow in case of any danger."

"Oh come on mom when can I get a dragon? I'm 9 years old I think I'm old enough." She questioned. Oh this question comes up all of the time.

"I'll talk to your father but right now your way of defending yourslef is your bow and the secret knife in your boot." I asid and walked back into the kitchen. I heard the front door slam shut. I sighed and looked down at the counter.

Mercy's POV

Ugh mom why can't she just let me get a dragon? I mean all of the other kids have one and I'm sitting here defending myself with weapons. Dragons are much stronger. I  took a deep breath and walked into the forge. I started heating coals and getting my knife ready. I was going to try and thin out the blade so it would be a little faster. I grabed my set of tools dad made me and started unpacking them.

"What are you doing here this late? You should be at home."

"Dad the sun  hasn't even set fully yet it's not late." I said with a little snap.

"Watch the snapping I'm still your dad." He said. I sighed.

"I'm sorry it's just moms getting to me a little and I guess I'm still a little angry." I said and sat down on my stool. Dad added a whole station connected to his so we could build stuff together. He sat down and looked at me.

"Spill it."

"Ok so I was talking to mom about defense and stuf so then I asked her when I could get my own dragon so I can stop borrowing Toothless and Stormfly and she just said she would talk to you but that's her excuse every time! When am I going to get a solid answer out of her?" I ranted.

"I know you want a dragon but they're dangerous and she's looking out for your well being. But if it means that much to you, I'll let you get a dragon. But I at least need to tell your mother." He said and stood up. I stood too.

"Would you really let me get a dragon?!" I shouted excitedly.

"Yes.I'll even teach you everything you need to know on how to train your dragon." He said and grabbed the box with moms flight suit.

"Oh thank you Dad!" I shouted and gave him a hug. He knelt down and hugged me back.

"Come on. I'll walk home with you." He said and we walked out of the forge with Toothless right by me.

~the morning~

Hiccup's POV

I woke up before Astrid. I grabed her present from under the bed and the flowers i picked from the forest and tied together. I walked downstairs and setup the signs. I decided to do a scavenger hunt for her. I'm going to leave clues throughout Berk and after the final clue, I will be standing there with the flowers and her present. I've already recruited Mercy to help me set this up and she decided she would lead Astrid to the first clue. I walked around putting up signs and wishing villagrs a happy Snoggletog. No one was curious about what I was doing, but all I told them was don't take down the signs. I walked to the final clue and waited there.

Astrid's POV

I woke up and saw Mercy dangling upside down on my doorway.

"AH!" Mercy what are you doing?" I asked.

"Happy Snoggletog!" She shouted and flipped down.

"Oh thank you Happy Snoggletog."  I said sleepily and stood up. I noticed a sign on Hiccup's nightstand. "What's this?" I asked Mercy but she was gone. I looked baack down at the note and read it.

Astrid~

Good morning beautiful! I hope you slept well! First of all Happy Snoggletog to milady. Now second, go downstairs. Look for your next clue.

That was the sweetest note I've ever read. I walked downstairs and looked for a note. I noticed one on the door knob of the front door. I unfolded the note and read it.

Hello gorgeous! Make sure you keep these notes with you. I wanna see that you took the time to read them. Now get dressed in anthing you'll look beautiful and go to the forge.

I went upstairs and changed into my normal outfit but with a bigger fur coat that reached the ground. I went back downstairs and walked to the forge since Stormfly was still sleeping. Once I got there, I frantically looked for a note.

"Oh Astrid glad you're here. This was left for you. I was going to deliver it but i'm a little busy right now" Gobber said and pointed to a folded paper on the desk in the front.

"Thanks Gobber!" I said and walked out. As I was walking, I unfolded the note and read it.

Hi dariling!

If you are, then go to the tree and look fo the blue shield on the lowest row of shields.

I walked to the tree and looked for the blue shield. I found it and sure enough, there was a note tucked in bewtween two of the pieces of wood. I retrieved it and unfolded it.

Just two more clues milady.

Go to my dads statue and look under his feet.

I walked to Stoick's Statue and took a second to pay my respects. He was my father in law and I do miss him dearly. I then climbed onto the staue's base and looked below the feet. I saw a small corner of brown paper sticking out from under the left foot. Oh Hiccup did you just pull the left foot joke on yourself? I opened the note.

Yes I know I put it under the left foot I wanted to make you smile.

Hope it worked.

I folded the last note and walked to the acadmy. It was a little bit of a long walk but I didn't mind. It gave me time to think. Once I got there the gate was closed with a dragon wing over the door. It was black so I knew it was Toothless. I pulled the lever and the door went up. As soon as it was all of the way up, Toothless lifted his wing to reveal Hiccup standing in the middle of the academy with a box at his feet and a bundle of flowers in his hand. I smiled and did a happy gasp. I ran t him and engulfed him in a hug.

"Hppy Snoggletog Astrid." He said and kissed my forehead. I kissed  him on the lips.

"Happy Snoggletog Hiccup."

I JUST GOT THE BIGGEST HICCSTRID FEELS EVER LIKE SWEET SON OF THORS HAMMER I HAVENT STOPPED SMILING!

next chapter should be up somtime soon school starts on monday and tomorrow im doing something for my moms birthday and sunday i will spend enjoying my last day of summer freedom. 

But monday im out at like 12 so i have time to write.
