1. how do you spend an evening when it rains?

Many young people dislike a rainy evening because they can not go out and have fun. to me it is not so boring. I can find lots of things to spend an evening when it rains.

First of all, there are assignments that I have to finish and lessons that I need to review for the next days' classes. Then, I can amuse myself by playing my guitar for a while. If I am not in the mood for music, I can still join my family in the living room for a play on television or a video film.

A rainy evening is often not much fun if one spends it doing nothing, but it does seem to pass so pleasantly and quickly when one is happy with so many things he can do.

2. the reason why young people prefer to live in town.

Why many old people dream of peaceful countryside and pure air, most young one prefer life in towns, expecially in big cities.

The town can provide them with all comforts and conveniences such as electricity, drinking water, good means of transportation, and various kinds of entertainment. They can buy everything they need end get all services quickly and easily . Moreover, they can expect to find jobs that are both interesting and well-paid.

There is good reason to believe that young people prefer to live in towns and cities because they hope to enjoy the benefits of modern life.

3. the advantage and disadvantages of television

television is a very popular means of communications as it is enjoyed by millions of people all over the world.

It entertains us with dances, plays and songs. It helps us widen our knowledge with instructive talk shows, news programs, and documentary films. It is also used for educations purposes, especially in remote areas where there are no schools and teachers.

However, television also has disadvantages. Many children are so interested in watching TV that they neglect their studies. Beside, not all TV programs are good. Some of the films which are shown on TV encourage violence and sexuality. They have bad influence on small children and teenagers.

Since television has an extremely wide influence on the entire world, it is essential to provide as many good TV programs as possible.

4. describe your best friend and tell why you like him or her

nga is my best friend. She is also my classmate. She is 23 years old girl with a slender build and a fair complexion. She has long black hair and a charming oval face with big brown eyes. At school she is very studious and good at every subject. She helps me a great deal with my studies. Her behavior is also admirable. She is simple, friendly and kind to everybody. At home she spend most of her spare time looking after her little brothers and sisters and helping her mother with the house work.

5. the city or town where you are living

I live in HCM City, the largest city in VN. It has a population of about 5 million. in the center of the city the streets are wide and crowded with people and vehicles there are many big stores, hotels, theaters and tall buildings. However, in the suburbs the roads are narrow and in bad condition, an the houses are small and ugly. There are several interesting sights in HCM City such as the Saigon Zoo, the Ben Thanh Market, and so on.

There have been great changes in this city for the last 10 years. Life has become much better for most of its residents.

6. you have just received some photos from a friend who visited you last month. You write a letter of thanks and tell your friend briefly what has happened your life since then.

I have just received several photos of you and me, which were taken during your visit to my family last month. You look so young and lovely!

Some important things have happened to me since you left us to return to your hometown. I was suddenly taken ill and it was serious enough for me to go to a doctor, who recommended a week's rest at home. I was seventeen on the day I completely recovered from my illness so my parents held a big party for me. I was great fun for there were many guests including several of our old friends. I am now taking a preparation course for the B-lever certificate of English. I will take the exam early next month.

7. why is it necessary to learn English?

English is the most international language. It is spoken all over the world . in our country english is taught in schools and widely used in business. If we know English, we can read various kinds of English books to widen our knowledge, communicate with most foreigners easily, and above all, find agod job in a business company.

In brief, it is very necessary for us to learn English. If we know English well, we may have more chance of improving our lives.

8. in your opinion, which job is the most interesting? Why?

There are plenty of good jobs in our society. In my opinion, working as a tourist guide is the most interesting.

Being a tourist guide enables us to know more about our country, visit beautiful places and meet all kinds of people. Above all, when dealing with foreign tourists, we have good opportunities to practice our English and widen our knowledge. Beside, the salary of a tourist guide is satisfactory.

I will apply for a job at a tourist agency and become a tourist guide when I have graduated from high school andobtained a B-level certificate of English.

9. I am very fond of books. I enjoy reading books at weekends and whenever I have free time. I read simple English books, which help to improve my English , I also read serious Vietnamese books on general sciences to widen my knowledge. Through these good books, I can learn a great men in the world. In addition, I sometimes read humorous stories to relax my mind and even to remove my troubles.

I wonder if there people who can ever deny that good books are really good teachers and friends.
