A collab piece with my beautiful friend, Amber! @firestar64

There lay a town in the old northeast,
Colors bleak and rivers shallow
There was a man, a boy, and a girl
The only three with skin not sallow

The air was stained with sour despair
At least no one had yet departed
Horrible pain, red breakouts bursting
No, no, not for the faint-hearted

Many a man had begun to succumb
There wasn't a single dry eye to be seen
Who knew if any of them would prevail?
Not much food to be found, and no water clean

Now, the two children were not very known
But the man bore the name of Galen Gray
He had only been in the town a short while
But to him it was forever, forever and a day

The acrid smell of fluids filled the air
Soon enough, the pastor was down
Though, with what, nobody knew
But it seemed the prince had cracks in his crown

Screams rang out through the night so dark
Blood glittered, shining, a sign to refuse
Let out the fumes of day old waste
Though it was common, to Gray it was no muse

Bodies built up along with deaths
There was no rest and with that came stress
Once warm, now their blood ran cold
Leaving a town in a chaotic mess

Galen knew of the pressing debacle he faced
After all of the mayhem he could not seem to recover
His hand steadily shook with every diagnosis
Until he learned Rebekah, the name of his lover

Cursed by the disease that fell on the town
She was infected, too, but no less expected
There was no time for weeping and worrying
He had to keep working with the infested

Eventually, her life came to an end
His life deteriorated, a spiraling swirl
Until he had seen what lay inside her
A new life, it seemed; A new baby girl
