Dear Journal,

I've decided to move Hank (and Sumo) to the abandoned church for the time being, knowing he'd be accepted for helping save Markus and getting supplies. The deviants took him in with open arms, concerned. After his nap, he seemed to be fine, but claimed he was in pain. We didn't have any meds for him, but a few deviants went to find some.

I sat beside Hank, with Sumo at our feet. Hank remained silent for a while, then began to speak. "Thank you, Connor. I didn't expect you to come for me," he said, avoiding my gaze. I tilted my head to try and catch his eyes, which made him look up at me with sincerity. I think he was crying.

I did something I wouldn't have done a week ago... I hugged Hank. I hugged him gently, as not to cause him any pain. I even smiled a bit as he hugged me back with one arm. We moved away from one another and I looked at his eyes. I then began to talk, and although it was slightly awkward, I had to say what I was feeling.

"Hank, I love you. You're like... a father. I've never felt anything like this before, but it feels good. I'm glad I became your partner at the DPD. I didn't expect us to get along at first, but now I can't imagine life without you. When you're away, I miss you. I don't feel like I fit in with the rest of my kind, but I feel the opposite when I'm with you. You make me feel... Human. Loved. Like a part of a family. That's something I've never had before, and I just want you to know that you're a big part of my deviancy. I kept your morals and safety in mind when I made my decisions after the incident with Rupert. I regret that moment every day, for I should've saved you. I'm sorry for that, Hank. ...I just want you to know that I care about you more than I usually express."

As I spoke, Hank teared up more and more until I was finished. Tears rolled down his cheeks as he smiled a bit. I chuckled and punched his healthy arm gently. "You're getting soft in your old age."

Hank wiped his face with a chuckle and punched my arm back. We laughed for a moment before Markus and Josh came over to us. Markus gave Hank some painkillers the scouts had found for Hank and thanked him for the blue blood and biocomponents from the other day. Josh shook Hank's hand and introduced himself, then walked off to tend to something else. Markus told Hank how glad he was to have Hank here with us, and how valuable Hank would be to the rebellion.

Hank nodded in response, then took in a deep breath and leaned back in his seat, closing his eyes and falling asleep. Sumo jumped onto the bench as well, laying his head in Hank's lap as he slept.

Now, I'm watching over them. I still can't shake this bad feeling I've had though. It worries me that I've had this bad feeling from the beginning, but now that the danger is over, the feeling is still here. I don't know what it is, but I hope it's preventable.

Tomorrow will be better.

At least, now that I'm not alone.

-RK800, "Connor"
