Ren POV

I came out of the shower and saw Y/n deep in her sleep. I stood there still, in my towel around my waist. She was splayed on the bed in a very carefree manner.

I took my bag and fished my clothes out. Wearing the night outfit I came near the bed, where should I sleep? Would she mind if I sleep besides her?

Only one way to find out. I settled myself near her on the massive king size bed and slept immediately. At 3am in the night I felt her stir in her sleep.

She was mumbling curses under her breath every passing minute. She must be very frustrated for sure. I closed my eyes once again.

She suddenly woke up pushing me away when I realized that I am holding onto her waist like a pillow. She began to squirm and moaned silently.

The grip I had on her body loosened and I pulled her flushed into a warm hug. My face was stuffed in the nape of her neck making her moan more loudly. I turned my face around and stuffed my face near her and groaned,

"Don't moan, I'm not doing anything. Just sleep..."

But instead she pushed me away and  I whipped my hands above my head in a surrendering manner and she got up scrambling her clothes in a perfect manner.

I was about to say something to her, when she flung herself over me and tried to hit me. But my fighting self just threw her above and over me and down on the hard ground. She groaned loudly and stood up,

"The fuck you doing Ren!"

She yelled in her groggy morning voice. I stood up from the bed and gave her a hand to stand up on her feet. She took it and stood up as I spoke,

"I know what I did, officer, and I am very sorry for that! I-I didn't meant to hold you like that! It's just you were sleeping so peacefully that my body reacted to yours and I ended up holding onto you like that! I am so sorry!"

I said in one go and bowed in front of her to show my apology to her. Y/n raised an eyebrow at my dramatic apology, her initial irritation softening into a half-amused expression.

"Ren, seriously? You're apologizing for holding onto me in your sleep?"

she chuckled, shaking her head.

"Just be more mindful next time."

I straightened up, relieved by her response.

"I promise, Officer Y/n, it won't happen again. I value my limbs intact."

She smirked, giving me a playful shove.

"Good call, Ren. Now, let's focus on the case. We have work to do."

As we started discussing the details of the investigation, I couldn't help but steal glances at her. The morning sunlight streaming through the window cast a warm glow on her, making her appear more approachable than her usual stern demeanor.

Hours passed as we delved into our tasks, exchanging ideas and narrowing down leads. The tension from earlier dissipated, replaced by a camaraderie that hinted at a deeper connection.

As the day unfolded, it became evident that the case would require our undivided attention. Little did I know, this unexpected morning incident would be a catalyst for a shift in our dynamic, bringing us closer in ways beyond the professional realm.

Orion Sanders house;

The sound of the splintering door echoed through Orion Sanders' home in Rio. Y/n and I exchanged a glance, a shared sense of urgency as we stepped cautiously into the dimly lit foyer. The air hung heavy with an unsettling stillness.

"Orion?"

Y/n called out, her voice echoing through the silent halls. No response. The tension in the air thickened.

We moved through the house, our senses on high alert. As we reached Orion's study, we discovered a scene that sent shivers down our spines. Orion Sanders lay lifeless on the floor, a pool of crimson staining the luxurious carpet beneath him.

Y/n immediately radioed for backup, her professional demeanor masking any personal shock. I knelt beside Orion, examining the crime scene for any clues. It was a chilling realization that the case we were investigating had taken a sinister turn.

As the authorities took over the crime scene, Y/n and I exchanged somber glances. The gravity of the situation weighed on us, and the urgency of solving this case became even more apparent.

Little did we know, this unexpected twist would lead us down a dark path, unraveling secrets that would challenge the very core of our investigation. As the forensic team worked diligently around us, Y/n's expression tightened with determination.

"We need to figure out who did this, Ren. Orion might hold the key to the entire case,"

she said, her eyes scanning the room for any overlooked clues. I nodded in agreement, my mind racing with the sudden turn of events.

"It seems like someone wanted to silence him. We need to find out why."

Our investigation led us to Orion's personal files and correspondence. As we sifted through the documents, a cryptic note caught Y/n's attention.

"Look at this, Ren. It's a message from an unknown sender, mentioning some hidden truth."

The tension in the room heightened, and I couldn't help but feel a growing sense of unease.

"We need to follow this lead, Officer Y/n. There's more to this case than meets the eye."

As we left the crime scene, the sun setting over Rio cast long shadows, mirroring the complexity of the mystery before us. Y/n's determined voice broke the silence.

"We'll get to the bottom of this, Ren. We owe it to Orion."

Our journey into the shadows of deception had just begun, and little did we know that every step forward would unravel more layers of a web of secrets, leading us deeper into the heart of a sinister plot.

Days turned into nights as Y/n and I delved into the intricate web of Orion Sanders' life. Our investigation took us to unexpected places, revealing connections and betrayals that shook the foundations of trust.

One evening, as we pored over surveillance footage, Y/n's sharp gaze fixed on a mysterious figure in the background of Orion's recent meetings.

"Ren, do you recognize this person?"

She questioned, pointing at the screen. I squinted at the image, a sense of recognition dawning on me.

"I've seen him before, Y/n. He's tied to the underground network we've been tracking."

As we traced this lead, our pursuit brought us face to face with danger. In a dimly lit alley, the mysterious figure confronted us, a sinister smile playing on his lips.

"You're getting too close, Detectives. This is bigger than you can handle."

Y/n, undeterred, stepped forward.

"We won't be intimidated. We're bringing justice for Orion."

The confrontation escalated into a tense exchange of words, revealing the depth of the conspiracy we had stumbled upon. The mysterious figure vanished into the shadows, leaving us with more questions than answers. Back at our makeshift headquarters, Y/n's determination burned brighter.

"We're on the right track, Ren. We just need to keep pushing."

Our pursuit of truth led us to a clandestine meeting, where alliances shifted and loyalties were tested. As the pieces of the puzzle fell into place, Y/n and I found ourselves standing on the precipice of a revelation that would change everything.
