× This is kind of a Werewolf AU I guess?

× Enjoy!

They first met when the wolf attacks just started but no one cared about it. Estonia saw the tall country sitting alone on a bench at the park, wearing nothing but pants and a T-shirt. It was January and two feet of snow fell the night before. He walked over to the country who didn't even look up when he stopped right next to him but the smaller one was sure he knew he was there.

"Uhm, are you okay?" Estonia asked in a worried voice.

"Why don't you mind your own business?" His tone wasn't aggressive it was calm, like when you ask 'Where are my keys?'.

"Because you're sitting on a bench in the middle of winter, wearing a T-shirt. I don't think that's considered as normal behaviour." The taller country chuckled softly and finally looked up. His cold, grey eyes gave Estonia a look that made him shiver but he looked back at him with his bright, blue eyes.

"It's a bad habit of mine. Forgive me if the look of me bothered you." He smiled ironically and stood up.

"That's not what I meant!" Estonia quickly said, cursing at himself in his head because of how stupid he acted. "I was just—"

"Worried," finished the other one and he blinked in suprise.

"H-How did you know?"

"You're not the first one to ask that. Do I really look that shitty? Or everyone is just trying to get my attention because of how handsome I am." He grinned and Estonia smiled back at him, slightly blushing.

"Can I least get your name then, handsome stranger?" he asked ironically though he had to agree with the other one: he really was good-looking.

"Finland. And you are?"

"Estonia. Nice to meet you, Finland."

"It's nice to meet you too, Estonia."

They started meeting up after that. They drank hot chocolate together, watched some movies and went out on walks. Finland didn't have close friends and he kept his cold attitude even with Estonia. But the smaller one knew he wasn't being rude, it was just the way of how he was. He accepted that and enjoyed spending time with Finland. Both of them were quiet, maybe the taller one was a little bit quieter which made Estonia look like really extroverted when he was hanging out with him.

"Fifteen attacks happened this month which concerns all of us. The attacks were clearly caused by wolves but these animals are bigger, smarter and faster than the simple gray wolves we know. It's like there are more and more of them but no one can tell us where they are coming from. Everyone is adviced to get to home before the Sun goes down and lock everything. Now, we will talk about next week's weather. It's going to—" Finland turned off the radio and sighed.

"I'm starting to get worried about this situation. Wolf attacks that are this deadly? They never find anything left from the victims except some blood. No signs of a dead body or bones around the—"

"Please, stop!" Finland looked at Estonia and realized what he was talking about and how this scared the other one.

"Oh fuck, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to say things like that. I'm sorry," he said quickly and hugged the other country who hugged him back even though he was suprised at how the taller one threw away his cold voice and expression in a moment. This was their first hug ever and he wasn't going to lie: he really enjoyed it.

"It's fine," he said and smiled and Finland noticed it.

"Why are you smiling?" His usual attitude came back but he still didn't let go of Estonia.

"Nevermind." He chuckled and at that moment the Finnish suddenly pulled away and the other one could swear Finland's face was redder than it was before. They spent the rest of their night in silence, watching movies.

Three months later, the wolf attacks got critical. The news reported new disappearances every day and people were frightened. They were scared for their friends, their family and their life so a new civil organization has been created: the International Werewolf Hunting Team. Most people didn't agree on the animals being werewolves but no one disagreed when they said these attacks weren't caused by simple wolves. The organization's goal was to capture or kill the animals but they mostly just killed them. The wolves were huge: their head was the same high as an average man's chest , they were extremely strong and had big fangs.

Estonia and Finland also joined IWHT and helped in fending off the attacks. They went out on missions almost every night and they were mostly in the same team. Those days were not happy at all but at least they were there for each other.

On a night right before they went out to the forest again, Finland called Estonia to a quiet corner where the others couldn't hear them.

"What's up, Soome?" the smaller one asked, looking confused.

"I need to tell you something before we go out" —the taller one started and Estonia could see the so many emotions swirling in the other's eyes— "because we could die every night out there."

Estonia stayed silent and waited for his friend to continue but he was too nervous to talk. He was trying to find the right words but clearly failed to.

"Hey, it's okay. You know you can tell me anything, right?" Estonia said and at his words, the Finnish froze. Estonia wanted to ask him what's wrong but before he could say anything he felt Finland's lips pressed against his and now it was his time to froze. But not for long. After a few seconds he kissed back, closing his eyes. Finland put his hands around the smaller one's waist and pulled him closer. They stood there in the corner, hugging and kissing each other and nothing and no one mattered at that moment.

But every good moment has to come to an end and this one was no exception either. They parted, panting softly and looking at each other, both blushing. Estonia smiled at the Finnish who returned it, relieved that he had not ruined their friendship.

"So... this means we're boyfriends now?" the smaller one asked, making Finland's face even redder.

"Kyllä, I guess," he said quietly which made Estonia laugh.

"You're really cute when you're embarrassed." This made the Finnish blush even more but he snapped back with a smirk.

"And you're really cute in general." Now it was the other's turn to blush.

"Are you coming, or not?" shouted one of their teammates.

"Coming!" they shouted back, smiled at each other and then ran to grab their guns.

But these were just memories.

Estonia were looking at his shaking hands as his vision blurred again at the thought of his boyfriend. He couldn't forget his frightened shouts as the wolves, those monsters took him. He tried to run after him but the others stopped him and they could hear the wolves excited barks and growls as they dissapeared into the shadows. The last thing he could se was Finlands scared face before he was dragged into the woods. There was nothing left of him but some blood traits on the white snow right where he was attacked by a great dark haired animal. There was no chance of finding his body. It was just like any other attack.

The small country was heartbroken. He couldn't eat, he couldn't sleep for a week. He was thinking about his love and all the good memories. Then, his sadnes started to turn into anger. He was angry at the wolves for existing and he was angry at his teammates for not helping and not letting him go after Finland. Sometimes it was almost like he was angry at Finland himself for not getting out from the animals' jaw but he always shushed his brain when this sentence began to form in his mind.

Then, he wanted revenge. He started participating in the missions again (they didn't let him work after Finland's death because he had to relax a little bit), trying to find the dark wolf that first jumped at the country. He couldn't find it for three weeks but one night, it finally showed up.

"I'll get you, you bastard," he muttered and wiping the tears from his eyes, he went after the animal, not caring about leaving his teammates. They'll be just fine without him.

When he got close enough, he aimed at the wolf's head and fired. The animal jumped away but he still shot its shoulder. It didn't whine at all just growled, turned around and ran away as fast as it could. Estonia would normally question this behaviour because these wolves were known to fight until they die even with wounds on them. But the country's mind was clouded as he wanted to do one thing: kill the monster that took Finland.

He followed it through the woods until he was on a field. He couldn't see his prey so he muttered some swear words and started to walk slower, trying to find it. He heard some moving behind him and then a low growl as the wolf got ready to jump. He turned around at the same moment the animal kicked off the ground and was flying towards him. He automatically pulled the trigger right before it would bite into him. The wolf crashed into him, kicking both of them to the ground but didn't get up to bite into him. Estonia could feel blood soak his clothes as the red fluid poured from the wolf's throat, mouth and nose.

The country got up and looked at the wolf without emotions. He probably would have stayed there, staring at the body but then he heard steps. And those steps were clearly not human.

He quickly looked around, trying to find the source of the sound but the steps suddenly stopped. Silence was all he could here as he was waiting for the attack anxiously. And it came.

A white wolf jumped at him from his right side, snarling and chattering his teeth. Estonia didn't have time to shoot so he jumped away, avoiding the animal's attack. The wolf immediately spun around as it landed and bared its teeth, growling. The country looked into its angry, grey eyes and his jaws dropped as he realized whose eyes they were.

"Soome?" he asked quietly. The wolf stoped growling at the name but was still baring its teeth.

"It's me! You must remember me!" Estonia sobbed and smiled. The wolf stopped showing its teeth but was still in an aggressive body posture.

"Finland, it's me! Estonia. Your b-boyfriend." He started crying as the wolf started to curiously listen to him but its eyes were still full of hatred.

"It's me," the country whispered and the wolf started to change. His body became more human-like and his facial features started to change. Estonia could finally recognize his lover but something was wrong. Finland was standing on two legs but his legs and arms were more like paws. He was covered in white fur and he kept his wolf tail and ears.

"Estonia." His voice was lower than it was before and the smaller one could see the fangs in his mouth.

"Finland, what happened to you? I saw you being dragged away," he whispered, looking at the other one. He was suprised at the taller one's look but he couldn't tell how happy he was to see him alive.

"The wolves didn't kill me, instead, they turned me into one. They only do it with the strongest ones and apparently I was considered strong. I changed a little bit." He laughed. It was cold and cruel and it made Estonia shiver. "But I feel much better now. You have no idea how much fun I had lately with all the prey in the forest. Especially when we were after humans."

Estonia was taken aback by what Finland said. He was always cold but he was never cruel before.

"This isn't you." Estonia felt warm tears stream down his cheaks and he stepped back. The taller one looked at him and grinned.

"Oh, it is me, my dear. This is the real me. The pack helped my inner wolf come out and it was the best thing that happened to me. I want you to join me, join the pack! Soon, it'll be only wolves on this land and we will be finally free. It'll only hurt a little bit, I swear." He smiled but it was a maniac's smile, not his. The smaller country took another step back and violently shook his head.

"Ei! This is not you, not the Finland I know. What happened to you?" He continued crying and backing away but the other one followed him.

"It is me, believe it. Now come with me willingly or I'll have to hurt you," he said and Estonia knew the situation was hopeless. When Finland said the second part of his sentence, he wasn't pleading. It was clear that he would hurt him happily and it broke Estonia's heart into million pieces.

"I won't go with you. Leave." His voice was more steady and it made the taller one furious. He yelled and turned back into a wolf so he could jump at his prey. He was running towards Estonia who felt like time slowed down. He could see the droplets of saliva scatter from the wolf's fangs, he could see every hair on his face and he could see his grey eyes. Those eyes showed nothing but animal instict to kill everything that breathes and moves.

He did not remember when he pulled the trigger but he did it. The bullet flew through the air and went straight into the wolf's head. He yelped as it made contack with his skull but a moment later he fell to the ground. Blood drops trickled down his white fur and pooled in a puddle on the ground. His eyes soon became glassy, doll-like.

Finland was dead. And Estonia killed him.

The country stood there, completely shocked. Then he dropped his weapon to the ground and ran to the dead wolf. When he got to the body he collapsed to the ground next to it and started gently shaking it.

"Ei. Finland, you have to wake up, you can't leave like this," he whimpered softly as new tears streamed down his cheeks. "Don't leave me, please. Mul on nii kahju. I was stupid, I shouldn't have shoot you, I didn't mean to! It was automatic I swear, I didn't want you to get hurt. Palun..."

He was shaking and sobbing but the wolf didn't move. When he realized this he buried his face into the white fur and continued crying. He was so happy for a moment, he thought everything would be alright because Finland wasn't dead. It was so good. Why did it have to end like this?
