one day -

the Light
and the Colours
will flood out of her brain
leaving nothing.
the song, and the dance
(and the little girls in party frocks)
(with the purple ribbons in their hair)
will go.

then there will be

Null.

the picnics and (forty-six?) anniversaries –

gone.

Maybe if she thought hard
she could remember that tune a man played
on his golden flute.

but, then again -
there is nothing left,
only darkness
and the man by her side
who is calling
out
her
name.

my thanks for the votes and comments readers have left on this poem and especially for the personal experiences and thoughts they have shared with me. love always - from thom ! (James Galway is above. He has a small part in this poem .)
