Everyone returns to their classrooms.

"Yo, Ann," April calls out. "What did you sign up for?"

"Frisbee and football," Ann replies. "Would've signed up for scrabble, but that's too easy a win. I want a challenge, woman. And you?"

"Chess," April answers.

"Chess, you say?" Ann repeats. "Good luck with that. Yeah, you'll do much better there than you did in volleyball last SportsFest. What's your other?"

"First aid."

Ann smirks. "You lazy piece of sh- Oh, hi, Vick! What are your sports?"

"Basketball and volleyball."

"Basketball, huh... And volleyball, that's a surprise. I thought you were really bad at service?"

"You're the one to speak," Sandee cuts in. "And if you're gonna ask, badminton with merch team."

"Not chess?"

"Nah, I'm not too interested in that. There are way better chess players in Campana, trust me. And you guys already made me lose enough brain cells anyway, so screw you."

"So, like last year, we aren't in the same sport?" Vick queries. "And, Ann, didn't you sign up for cheerdance?"

"Nah, I crossed my name out. Since our element's air, I'm not willing to be tossed from side-to-side only to act like my drunk ass dad once frisbee starts."

"True... Wait, you already know the schedule?"

"We Sparkers know everything, of course I do!" Ann chimes. "But because this is SportsFest, and you're from a different house, we're technically enemies, so if you really want the schedule ahead of time, you could either pay me a small fee of a million dollars - Engmerican, not Japanese - right now, or wait till SportsFest itself."

"I'd rather wait, thanks."

"What's your sport, Ysobel?" asks Orelya. "Uhm, I mean, sports."

"Volleyball and cheerdance. Isn't it obvious?"

"Same!" she exclaims, hi-fiving her.

"Kim? What did you sign up for?" asks April.

"Relay and first aid. I'm not gonna do badminton anymore," Kim replies.

"Why not?"

"Well, I just don't want to. All the weight ends up on my shoulders, so if I lose, that's one less win for everything."

"They're doing one person per set now, though," Sandee corrects. "And singles and doubles are counted as one sport only."

"Wait, really?"

"Yeah, Sofia told me."

"Sofia... who?"

"One of our house elders."

"Oh! Alright. Nic, what was your second sport again?"

"Volleyball and... ano... First aid," Nicole answers. "Angel? You?"

"'Angel'?" asks Ann. "Nicole, are you alright? Why are you talking to yourself?"

How many people decided to do first aid despite not knowing first aid? That's like playing volleyball without being able to serve properly.

"Relay and basketball," Angelika states.

"You're not doing first aid?" Nicole responds, slightly confused.

"I'm not lazy like you," Angelika replies. "Joke, joke!"

"Yeah, something tells me I should have gone frisbee instead of first aid. Maybe I will if we're given the chance to change sport."

"Frisbee's a bit more contact-heavy than volleyball... In fact you have practically zero chance of standing next to your opponents if you play right. But in frisbee, you'll be injured for sure... Are you fine with that?" asks Ann.

"I'll be fine," Nicole replies. "You sound so concerned... I'm okay!"

"I know!"

"Vick? Second sport?" asks Nicole.

"Volleyball."

Nicole smiles, covering her mouth and rolling her eyes left. "A-Alright," she says. "Shiiit," she whispers under her breath.

Nicole swore?

Great minds think alike. I'm talking about you, Nicolann.

"Is there something wrong? Cangrejo's easy to take down, they just got lucky last time," Orelya boasts. "Vick's nothing. She can jump, but she can't serve, and she can't set. And kung she's the Libero, she's even more useless."

"Dude, dude, parechong bro," says Nicole. "Coz you're like, you know, so sigurado that Navio will, like, make manalo over the Cangrejo, do you wanna, like, make galagala to the Moonbucks na sa loob of the Whalemart that you make kitakits when you ikot-ikot sa kalye when you make labas the eskuwelahan, you know what I'm sayin'? When they're finally, like, soooo, you know, natalo after the SportsFest."

What's she talking about? Something like... Shopping at Whalemart? This is painful to listen to.

"y34H, $yEmPRe p4R3,, 0v c0Rz pf0UH!! @Nd 4FtuH dAT wE KuD G0 3A7 Awt n4 riN z4 mcCD0n4Lz 4n uHh,,,, yUn laNG pFouHz! h4H4H4hA!1!! j3jEJ3JE!!!!!" Orelya replies.

...

I don't care anymore

"Why is it that you get to go out with Nicole and not me?" asks Ann.

"You actually understood that?" Vick reacts.

"Yeah, of course I understand jejemon. All you have to do is replace all of the threes with Es and the fours with-"

"Screw that, I'm not going to the Philippines, like, ever."

"Anyway, good luck, Nicole. You too, Vick and Martyn," Orelya salutes. "This time, Ryza won't be injured!"

Oh, that 5'8" girl that jumps high but not as high as I do. By the way, Mandee's 5'10" and almost 5'11" now.

"Who?" April asks.

"Ryza Pines... You don't know her?" asks Orelya. "She's 5'8" and she's the only one in Year 9 who can middle block. She jumps high, like Vick, but obviously not as high."

Did she read my mind?

"She's also good at high spikes and overhead serves," Orelya continues. "But she sprained her ankle from cheerdance practice, so there."

Oh, that anime cliché.

"And we have Kim, she's a great defender. But she didn't do volleyball last time, so we lost against Campana," Nicole adds.

"I'm sure Campana's team will end up the same this year," says Nicole. "For volleyball, four varsity players are allowed, right?"

"Shit, four?" Vick gasps.

"Yeah," Nicole affirms. "I'll bet Ann a bottle of Jatorade they'll be Ysobel, Alec, Isabela, and Caitlinn. A wing spiker, an ace, a setter, and a Libero. What else do they need? They have Camille, too, for middle blocking. That's what makes them a very hard opponent to battle. Even if you take away the others, they're still a solid team."

Hmm, so volleyball has the stakes higher.

"I wonder how it'll all play out with Ryza," says Orelya. "But, Vick, if you really want Cangrejo to win, you'll need more than jumping. Because right now, Cangrejo's no match for anyone."

Andale, Cangrejo! Derotarlos!
