Kian watched the boy from behind the counter for a few long restless minutes. While his boss Simone packed up for the day, Kian stayed right where he was since he saw Enzo. How could he function when the boy who every so often came in his dreams was right there?

Finally pulling his senses together he slid behind the counter and settled to brew a strong cup of coffee for the drunk boy. Kian was never good at dealing with drunk guys. He either shooed them out of the café or asked someone else from the staff to attend them. Neither option was at his disposal that night. He couldn't throw the guy whose mere presence set butterflies wild in his belly and he was the only one at work late that night.

He shook his head. Why did he have to re-enter his life when he was so close to getting over him? Reaching for a cup, he poured it with the black coffee up to its brim and looked over at Enzo. He was still in the same hammered state only now his face was nowhere to be seen, only his jeans clad legs were visible from under the table and his black timberlands. He had fallen off the table and was now lying face first on the red vinyl couch.

Kian hesitated a bit at first but when he saw Enzo's face, his legs betrayed him and within seconds he was at his table. He tapped his shoes with his own once, twice and again when he didn't so much as twitch from his position. Releasing a defeated sigh, Kian placed the coffee on the table and leaned over Enzo to make him sit upright. Wrong move!

The moment his body loomed over Enzo's, his strong musky scent hit Kian like a thunderstorm. His mind instantly traveled back in time to the seven minutes in the closet with him. He held the back of the couch in a vise grip to stabilize his senses and wrapped his other arm around Enzo's torso to pull him off the couch. Enzo always had an athletic body so it would have been very difficult for Kian to wrestle through his strength. But that was back then, now he had him upright with just a strong pull.

"Kiki," the boy had a wide grin the moment his face came in near contact with Kian's, making him freeze in that position. "I found you."

His words didn't make sense so Kian settled his back on the couch and stepped away from his close proximity. After running his trembling fingers through his unruly hair and taking deep breaths, Kian pushed the black coffee towards him. "Drink up."

"I don't need coffee," Enzo grimaced. "You know I hate black coffee."

"But that's exactly what you need to sober up." Kian gave a flat reply, crossing his arms across his chest. "It's closing time and if you don't want to spend the night on this couch then I suggest you drink it."

Enzo blinked up at him for two long seconds before looking back at the black liquid. He frowned at the drink and tried two failed attempts to hold his body upright without the support of the couch. On the third attempt however Kian was there to hold him with his hands around his shoulders and his chest against his side. The sudden touch had his heartbeat go crazy but tried to subside those feelings from resurfacing once again.

Just when he thought his misery was over Enzo turned in his hold and gazed up at his face. His soft fingertips set goosebumps loose over his skin as Enzo ran his cold fingers over his hair, his forehead, his eyes and just when they were about to trace a line over his lips, Kian held his wrist in a stronghold. "And what do you think you are doing?"

"You've changed so much, Kiki." Enzo said with a bright smile followed by a hiccup. "Where's your glasses? Did you break them again?"

Kian grumbled, mostly because Enzo's whole presence created unexplainable thrill in his heart and mind. "I don't wear glasses anymore."

Enzo hiccupped again, grinned and caged his face within his hands. "You look handsome without it, Kiki."

Kian raised a brow at the sudden affection coming from the boy who ghosted him for two long years and suddenly walked into his workplace unannounced like a dream and looked at him as if they didn't just share an awkward moment in the past. Perhaps, Kian was dreaming and it was all part of the same dream. Either way, if it was a dream, he wouldn't want to wake up ever again. He released a stuttered breath before pulling him out of the booth and towards the exit of the café, balancing Enzo's weight against his body. "We're leaving, Enz."

"You -you do remember me," Enzo slurred out the words as Kian held his chin and tilted it to check his pupils. He was badly drunk and there was no way he would have made it home by himself even if Kian hailed him a cab.

"Enzo Santiago," Kian gritted out under his breath. "Why do you always have to be the death of me?"

"No!" Enzo threw his head on Kian's shoulder and looked up at him. "I don't want you to die."

"No one is dying, Enz." Kian sighed, holding onto his waist and feeling every hard muscle underneath his shirt. He locked the café after him and led Enzo to the parking lot. "Do you want me to drop you to your apartment?"

"I don't have an apartment here." Enzo mumbled, rubbing his nose with his fist and Kian had to stop himself from admiring how adorable he looked doing that.

"A hotel then?"

Enzo remained silent for a long second and when Kian tilted his face to look down at his face against his neck, he found him muttering some incoherent words. He had already started dozing off. Kian released a silent curse under his breath and led the boy towards his car. "Oh, fuck me!"

A low laugh rumbled through the guy clinging to his body. "You wish."

Kian almost dumped Enzo to the ground with the shock that caught up in his throat but he somehow managed to gulp it down. Enzo released a long sigh against his ear, very close to his skin as Kian shoved him inside the car as quickly as possible and rested his back against the closed door to catch up his rash breathing.

It's so unfair. Enzo can't just walk into his life after two years, drunk off his ass and pretend like nothing changed between them. Now, he could have left Enzo at the bench outside his café but even after all these years Kian couldn't do that to him. He cared a little too much for the boy.

Kian looked back and quickly secured the seatbelt around the boy. Enzo blabbered something under his breath, words barely understandable and then rested his head against the leather seat. He scratched the sweaty column of his neck, his skin turning a deep hue of red where he touched.

Because Enzo had an exceptionally glowing skin color.

Kian shook his head and had to bite back the slight smile tugging the corner of his mouth as he recalled admiring his best friend's features many times when they were still so naïve. Kian didn't know back then what he felt for Enzo was not just a platonic liking, it was much deeper.

Once he was behind the wheel, Kian had to spend two long minutes deciding his next course of action. Up until then he had a clear aim to get Enzo somewhere safe till he regains his consciousness but as he took a quick glance over his shoulder to the Italian boy, he had to regather his plans for the night.

With his messed up hair and his slightly disarrayed body language, Enzo looked as vulnerable as a dew drop on the lush green grass and Kian couldn't just let him evaporate under the scorching heat of the sun. A sudden surge of possessiveness passed through his veins, filling his heart with the resolve to take the boy to his place.

The car ride was rather peaceful, if you ignored the wild hammering of Kian's heart and Enzo's soft snores. When did Kian become the one in control in their friendship? Did two years of living his truth had turned him into more of a man he wasn't before? Maybe. But when it came to Enzo, Kian would always be as guarded as before. After all, the boy sleeping beside him did break his heart once. Kian tightened his hold on the steering as a sudden image of their unexpected kiss flashed before his eye when Enzo ran his tongue unconsciously over his slightly chapped lips.

Enzo was surely a devil sent from hell, just to incarcerate Kian.
