Crash. Ayana watched terrified as the volleyball bounced off the ground and continued to quickly rise. She had never played sports especially not volleyball.

"Yeah!" a boy with white and black hair exclaimed, "I'm the best!"

Ayana shook her head to unfreeze herself and proceeded to her friend.

"Machiko!" Suzumeda exclaimed as her friend approached her.

"Hello, Suzumeda!" Ayana exclaimed grinning, "Here are the notes for English!"

"Thanks, Ayana!" Suzumeda exclaimed. As Ayana turned to leave, Suzumeda stopped.

"Why don't you stay a while. We can walk home afterwards together," she offered. Ayana agreed. She would rather walk with somebody else rather than by herself.

Ayana watched as a boy with messy black hair tossed the ball up. Suddenly, the same boy from earlier jumped up really high and smacked the ball with power. Unfortunately, a rather scary looking toy boy leapt up and the ball was smashed down onto the other side of the court. Ayana watched as the other boy stopped and raised his hand delicately.

"Here it comes," Suzumeda murmured.

"Akaashi! Don't toss to me anymore!" he exclaimed. The rest of the players seemed unbothered.

"Why don't you relax on the bench?" the boy with messy hair suggested. The other boy nodded and looking like a child whose parents who had refused to by them a lollipop sat on the benches near Ayana and Suzumeda.

The rest of the team continued to play. Ayana had to admit that they worked pretty well as a team and were quite close. As the club continued, the boy sat there continuing to watch the game with a sad expression. Ayana found it kind of amusing. After a while, the boy returned to his court yet he did not touch the ball for a few more rounds. Ayana watched as the boy with messy hair tossed the ball into the air. Suddenly, there was a sound of legs moving swiftly and the ball crashed to the ground. It had been the boy with white and grey hair. Ayana stared. He had hit the ball so powerfully and so swiftly even though he had looked so dejected a few seconds ago. Ayana watched as the boy with messy hair nodded his head at a few players.

"That was amazing!" a boy with brown hair exclaimed enthusiastically.

"Yeah! You're the best, ace!" another boy with medium-length messy blonde hair remarked.

The boy with white and grey hair stopped before jumping and pumping his fist.

"I'm the strongest!" he exclaimed.

Ayana was speechless.

As Ayana and Suzumeda were walking back home, Ayana decided to ask.

"Who is that boy with weird hair and looks like an -?" Ayana began.

"Owl," Suzumeda said simply, "That's Bokuto-san,"

Ayana paused. "Is he always like that?"

"Like what?" Suzumeda asked.

"Does he give up really quickly often?" Ayana asked.

"Yeah, you can put it that way," Suzumeda replied laughing, "It's his emo mode,"

Ayana nodded. She was curious about Bokuto and she wanted to find out more about his emo mode. And she had a plan on how to do it.
