Cindy decided to work on her assignment on the Sunday. Her Youtube playlist was interrupted with a call on her phone. It was Mom.

"Hey!" Cindy set the call on speaker and laid it beside her.

"Dad's cooking dinner tonight. He says I need to chill!" Her mom was munching something.

"Maybe you do need to rest now and then Mom,"

"Yea I could if only your Dad doesn't blow up the kitchen – ow!" She imagined her dad lightly knock her mom's head with a ladle. The thought made her chuckle.

"What's dad cooking anyway?"

"Roast chicken and fries"

"Sounds better than what I eat her at campus" She groaned.

"Why, the food is that bad?"

"It's just the same old fish and chips."

"They should put a meal plan like we did in the house." Mum was again munching on snack. "Maybe you should make one. Buy more snacks for your room."

"Mom..." Cindy rolled her eyes.

"Oh, how's the hostel holding up for you?"

"Getting straight A's and B's. B in history." Cindy summarized her first term grades.

"You're an ace. Don't be too harsh on yourself. 'Kay hon?" Mum gave a kiss from the other side.

"Thanks Mom!" She smiled.

"Anyways, dad's insisting I try this roasted potatoes he made for lunch. So, gotta go. Take care honey!"

"Love you too!" Cindy hung up.

Assignments were easy. She never understood how anyone could find them difficult. When some of her classmates had to re-sit their exams in the first term, they'd remember her. Although Amber had well-trained her cronies to never approach Cindy, it was the one time they broke the rule. After all, Amber was not a grade A student like her. No one dared mess with the topper in the final term of the graduate year.

She took a moment to organize her laundry and decided to head downstairs to run it in the washer. She headed for dinner after that.

There was pizza served for a change. She put it in her Tupperware, collected the laundry and headed straight back for her room. Nothing was better than binging on a television series and eating pizza.

That was until it was time to head to the club.
