[daggers - part two]
[3rd]

    Pain.

That was all she felt- fiery pain burning her up, and she could feel her throat, seemingly on fire as the concentrated acid corroded its way through it. Her eyes brimmed with unshed tears as she tried to regain control of her senses, but it was proving hard.

She wasn't going to make it.

That much she was sure of.

And she was content. Lily would live, she would live to see her son grow up, have his first word or learn to walk. She would live in happiness, with James, and Harry. Her heart suddenly filled with regret- the boy would never know his godmother, but in exchange he would live, his mother would live. She had shielded the family with her own life.

And Regulus would move on, he would find peace in somewhere else. Life still went on, and she knew that their worlds would go on turning, that they would experience happiness beyond what she had known. And she was okay with that. As long as her friends were happy, she was okay with it.

Death was at her door now. She knew it, was certain of it. She welcomed it. She opened her eyes and looked into his for one last time.

"Please- don't go-" tears fell down his cheeks, and she felt him tremble as he attempted to persuade her soul to stay.

She knew that she would be happier if she let go. That he would find someone else without feeling all the guilt, and her life had been sacrificed for those of her friends, who would live, happy, together. Try would feel bliss that she had never known, and she could be more excited for them, even as the pain slowly took over her.

"I love you." Her voice resonated in the room as she used her voice for the last time. She closed her eyes and took in a breathe.

For the first time in a long time, she felt truly content.

    She let go.

In her mind she could see her fallen friends and allies, Marlene, Dorcas Meadows, her parents standing before her with warm welcoming smiles.

    "You've done so well."

She reached out, reaching for their hands as they caught her and welcomed her with open arms.
