Hi friends. I need to say some stuff

First of all, thoughts and prayers to the people of the Florida school shooting. My heart goes out to you.

. . .

Thoughts and prayers do nothing.

This vicious cycle of the shootings of kids are not gonna stop, at least not if we just ignore it like this. Sure, everyone sends thoughts and prayers. So what? Nothing changes. We're trapped in a deadly cycle, and we're doing nothing to resist the flow.

Consider this a call for action.

March 14th, 10am. That's the date for a nationwide walkout of schools in the US. Talk to your teachers, your principals, your administration. Find out the consequences of a walkout. If you're willing to take the consequences, organize a walkout in your school. Advocate, talk to people. Get other on board, and have them convince their friends to do it too. Get people to talk online (Instagram, Snapchat, whatever). Create awareness. Time is short, but it is possible.

If your school's harsh against the walkout, then find other means of protest on March 14th. Wear a black armband. Talk with teachers. Try to get a boycott going, if you can.

If you can't protest at school, then do other things. Contact your state's Congress representatives, and press for stricter gun regulations. Join (or even start) a protest or rally on March 28th.

Most of all, make noise. Don't let your voice be ignored. Whenever you're online, join discussions, and upvote and reshare any posts that call for change.

The legislation always skirt around the issue of guns, and the year have shown that this has to end. Right after a shooting, the government days that it's too soon, the subject is too sensitive, but by the time things have "calmed" enough, another mass shooting has already happened.

Those government officials are wrong.

Now is the perfect time. Say things, keep the fire burning until it's light is unable to be ignored. This is the time where we need to drag people out of their comfort zone, and slam them in the face with the horrors of these murders. If we don't break the cycle here, now, we might never.

Just remember

My social studies teacher always likes to say, "decisions are made by those who show up"

Be the one who shows up.
