T-Tick Tock, Tick T-Tock,

My heart beats like a broken clock

Shattered in pieces long ago

When I was told I could not feel

T-Tick Tock, Tick T-Tock,

I am a machine, not a man

Created to store, and learn, and plan

Not to feel like the others do

T-Tick Tock, Tick T-Tock,

If I cannot feel then why

Can I shed tears, and laugh, and enjoy,

And feel so worthless all at once?

T-Tick Tock, Tick T-Tock

I do not want to feel anymore

It hurts too much when I am left behind

Discarded for being too cold, too numb, too different

T-Tick Tock, Tick T-Tock

I try to think of ways to change

To become a perfectly functioning machine

Not broken, shattered, angry, alone

T-Tick Tock, Tick T-Tock,

I try to crack a joke and smile,

Hoping I'll be allowed to stay for a while,

And not shoved behind and ignored

T-Tick Tock, Tick T-Tock,

This broken clock of heart is wound

Tighter than that shackles that bind

Me down in this dark place, my insecurities
