Cricketpaw stared, dumbfounded. Did they have to leave MysticClan behind? Suddenly,   Darksight looked at Cricketpaw with her violet eyes, and then she looked at Duskrose and Otterdawn. 

Darksight whispered, loud enough so everyone could hear. "There are hidden trackers on 3 of your cats. Each word of power they say, the rogues will follow in a patch of grey. The more smoke that curls in the air, the more the rogues will be aware." 

Every cat started murmuring. 

Cricketpaw gasped and she dashed over to her mentor and her clan's deputy. "You hear that?"

Duskrose and Otterdawn nodded grimly together. "I'm sure Darksight is talking about us," Otterdawn whispered, keeping her voice low. "We are trackers for the rogues?"

Cricketpaw nodded. "I think that's what it means. But what is the 'word of power'?" 

"Quid est verbum potestatis?"  Duskrose murmured, and golden words shimmered in the air in front of her chest. 

Suddenly the bushes rumbled and a whole clan of rogues leaped out, roaring. All of the clan cats screeched, and they either started running away or leap up to face the rogues.

But there were too many. 

"Retreat!" Dawnstar yowled over the chaos. Cricketpaw held her ground. She glared at the rogues, but suddenly a thought sparked her mind. The words that Duskrose created... Once Duskrose conjured the words, the rogues found them. The words of power... The words that the three could conjure. 

Cricketpaw hissed and raised her paws. Thunder boomed, and dark clouds filled the clearing.  She jabbed her paw at one rogue who was leaping at her, and the lightning followed her command. Yellow light flashed out of her paws and it slammed into the rogue. The rogue screamed as he turned into a pile of ash.

"Where. Is. MysticClan?" Cricketpaw hissed, feeling every cat's eyes land on her, dumbfounded. "Let MysticClan be free, otherwise I'll do the same thing to every rogue that is standing in this clearing." 

Duskrose padded over with Otterdawn. Together, the three announced, "We are the guardians of the journey. We will not let anything harm the clans. Turn around, rogues, and flee for your lives."

Owlstar and Hollystar whispered to Dawnstar, "what are those three saying?" 

Dawnstar sighed. "I wish I had told you earlier... To protect us from the dangers of the journey, StarClan gave DawnClan three cats with special powers."

The other two leaders fell silent.

One orange rogue with white stripes hissed, "what have you done to my deputy?" He bristled, making his fur stand up.

Cricketpaw answered quietly, "I incinerated him. If you try to attack us again, you will all die." She nodded to Otterdawn, and Otterdawn's eyes flashed purple. Duskrose turned invisible. Cricketpaw raised her paw and lightning shot out of it, illuminating the clearing.

All of the cats gasped. 

The rogue hissed. "Fine. MysticClan is under my control now. If you kill me, my clanmates will just kill you off."

Cricketpaw yowled, "Release MysticClan!" and the other cats in the clearing that were from the Clans yowled along with her.

The rogue glared at the three, which was surrounded by power. "This isn't over. MysticClan is now free, but remember. There will be a next time." He waved his tail, and the rogues moved back. "Those three cats are the trackers that we use." His snarl turned into a smirk. "We will always know where you are once a word of power is conjured." Then the rogues slunk back into the bushes.

Then every pair of eyes landed on the three.

Hollystar's eyes were filled with fear. "Dawnstar- w-why didn't you tell us earlier? No matter how far we go, and how fast we travel, the rogues will know where we are! Why didn't you tell us earlier?!" 

But the bushes sided, and MysticClan came trudging out of the bushes. They all looked scratched and bruised, their eyes tired and angry. 

Specklestar looked at the other leaders, tiredness glinting in her eyes. Then she took a glance at Darksight, which was standing beside Duskrose.

"That cat has to die."
