Otterdawn stretched. The morning light filtered through the ferns, shining onto her fur. Stormleaf was curled around her, his breathing stirring her fur. She sighed as she rose, Stormleaf's paw falling softly to the ground.

Her mind was haunted of the moment - Birdstar, falling to the ground in a motionless heap. The body was carried by Hollydapple and her clanmates, bringing her under the willow tree where she loved to stand. But Birdstar was gone...

"Everything hurts," she murmured. But everything was not the same anymore... Birdstar gone, Dawnstar grumpy, and ... a lot more things.

"I know," Stormleaf murmured, shifting around. "I know it hurts. Do you want to eat some squirrel before we get up?" He stood up, arching his back, and then leaning back, stretching his forepaws.

"Sure..." Otterdawn sighed. Even though she wasn't hungry, she had to make Stormleaf proud. She rose to her paws and licked her ruffled fur, then followed Stormleaf out into the open.

The sun shone it's rays at them, lighting up their fur and hopes. The sky was crystal clear, and feathered birds flew across the sky, craning their necks to catch the glimpse of the clouds.

"Come on," Stormleaf meowed, trudging over to the fresh-kill pile and picking up a squirrel. "Let's eat."

"Okay," Otterdawn sighed, settling down beside Stormleaf.

She looked at the juicy body, and leaned down to take a bite. The sweet flavour danced on her tongue, but it didn't seem right. She managed to swallow without choking.

"Hmm," Stormleaf hummed as he chewed a mouthful of squirrel.

Otterdawn sighed. Sparroweyes, one her of friends, got caught in a Twoleg trap and was injured. but Stormleaf had told her that if would be fine.

They had to leave the forest. They had to.

That night, Otterdawn stared at the ceiling. She couldn't fall asleep. Her heart hammered in her chest,  beating loud- too loud. She sighed and sat up. Stormleaf was still asleep, his whiskers twitching.

She walked out of camp. She needed to take a walk. She looked at the sky. The sky seemed to be splashed with some midnight-ink, the stars glowing brightly. She walked through the towering pines and sat next to the lake. The light reflected on the water, shifting and sliding, like a gentle breeze. The moon was high in the sky, like a glowing claw-scratch in the air.

"But why?" She murmured. She couldn't sleep! She tilted her chin to the sky.

Suddenly a misty form swirled in front of her. She gasped and jumped back. The mist shaped into a cat shape, and two sparkling eyes appeared into the mist.

StarClan.

"Hello, Otterdawn," the cat murmured. It wreathed a familiar scent: her mother, Brightclaw! "You have been dong well in DawnClan."

"M-M-Mother?" Otterdawn gasped.

Brightclaw's breath stirred her fur. "The clans must leave the forest." She curled her tail around herself. "Twolegs come and predators too, wreck the forest to its roots. To three cats the dawn shall rise, the other cats shall dozen some tries. Agree or disagree the cats will choose, the stars will follow in a sky of hues."

A prophecy! Otterdawn gasped and memorised it. "So we have to leave..."

The misty form started to fade. "No! Tell me more!" Otterdawn gasped, pawing at her mother.

"Fulfil the prophecy..." Brightclaw whispered, dissolving into fog. Brightclaw looked at her paws. There was a small image of a dove there.

She was one of the three to free DawnClan and the clans...
