What is conservation? Conservation is the wise use of natural resources. You know that plants are a valuable natural resource. Natural resources are the materials found in or on the earth that are useful to man. Then why should we use our natural resources carefully?

We mine million of tons of coal every year, we use million of barrels of oil, we cut down thousands of acres of forests. But the earth produces only a limited amount of these natural resources.

Coal and oil are formed thousands of years ago, and the supply is gradually running out. That is why we must use our natural resources as carefully and wisely as we can. We must make them last as long as possible. Conservation is the wise use of natural resources.
