Monika: The BlazBlue series has had a host of wonderful and powerful characters, yet very few of them are nearly as interesting and powerful as the former Imperator of the Novus Orbis Librarium, the harbinger of Death itself, Hades: Izanami.

Junko: Yeah so like her name implies, Izanami is the literal embodiment of Death itself, and is easily among the most powerful individuals in the series.

Monika: Her power is terrifying, said by individuals to surpass that of even the mighty Black Beast that ravaged the world itself as we know it. She ravages her opponents with attacks that scream death and manipulate the flow of time, and as such she is a devastating opponent, even to such individuals as Azrael and Ragna the Bloodedge. But perhaps the real reason for her terrifying power is the fact that she is actually the Drive of The Origin, the wielder of the all-powerful Amaterasu Unit, and is the manifestation of her soul and will. She wishes for naught but death and destruction... and with her power and her schemes, she is getting closer to achieving her goals.

Monika: Izanami is incredibly strong, having gone up against the likes of Ragna, Azreal, Relius Clover, etcetera. She's superior to Gigant: Take-Mikazuchi, which can annihilate the average country and she's comparable to Corpus Sepulcro: Requiem, which could atomize the Earth and the Moon. 

Junko: She once amplified Takamagahara to the point that it's comparable to Noel's Phenomena Intervention, who's comparable to gods that can warp the Boundary, a realm that transcends the Blazblue multiverse! Speaking of which, she's stated and even shown to traverse the Boundary with ease, which is stated to be infinite in size. She can battle Azrael, Hakumen, and Terumi and receive little to no injury, and can easily take blows from Azure Ragna! 

Monika: She's definitely one who lives by her name.

Monika: Izanami is almost completely devoid of emotion, save for her immense hubris and unbridled lust for destruction. Her ultimate goal is to bring true death to a world subjected to constant time loops. 

Junko: everyone as if they are merely insects that are beneath her. This is because she truly thinks she is superior to all living beings. She's fully confident in her power too, believing that no one can kill her. And I mean, she's not entirely wrong.

Monika: Despite her belief of being superior to all life, however, Izanami still ponders if she even has a soul. And since Saya is a part of her, the Saya aspect of her personality can sometimes show or take over, leading her to call Ragna "Brother".

Junko: But don't let that distract you from the fact that she can totally fuck some shit up!

Monika: Since she's the Drive of the Origin, Izanami possesses many abilities that can be considered unnatural.

Junko: You mean besides her flying, creating illusions of herself, manipulating gravity, controlling other people's minds, using telepathy, or even consuming souls?

Monika: What I mean is, Izanami is functionally immortal, unable to die by conventional means. Even the Immortal Breaker is useless and Hakumen's Time Killer has no effect since she does not exist within the concept of time. 

Junko: Doesn't help that she's got immense proficiency with Ars Magus, letting her wield Nox Nyctores weapons like Gigant: Take-Mikazuchi with no mental strain. And it definitely doesn't help that she can use Phenomenon Intervention!

Monika: Also known as Event Interference or "The Power of the God", this ability can change its target's state from "exist" to "not exist" and vice versa. If it cannot be determined if the target actually "exists" or not, it is almost impossible to perform a Phenomenon Intervention. Since a sudden disappearance of the target would shock those surrounding it, their memories are altered.

Junko: Phenomenon Intervention also allows the user to erase one reality and overwrite it with another, a different world that is a result of an existing possibility. In other words, it imposes a result of a certain phenomenon from a parallel world into the current world. It changes a possibility into reality!

Monika: Now if I were to give an example, it would be something like this.

Monika kissed Junko on the forehead.

Junko: What the-

Monika: Happy Valentine's Day.

She snapped her finger, erasing that point of reality and replacing it with another.

Junko: -changes possibility into reality! Huh?

Monika: As you can see, with this ability Junko has no idea of the events that occurred beforehand. So it's perfect for erasing certain events from happening or even erasing others from existence. It's pretty much reality-warping.

Junko: Wait, what just happened?

Monika: O-Oh, you were just going over Izanami's weapon!

Junko: That so...? 

Monika: ... Yep...

Junko: Well that's believable! Her weapon is the Yasakani no Magatama!

Junko: Sealed away in Izanami's crown, this thing's pieces can target its victim, and strike them with devastating electrical shocks. It can also defend Izanami from harm and activate her Drive, Exodus Arc!

Junko: She deploys Yasakani no Magatama, enabling her to fire off its components for ranged warfare. The only downside is it disables her ability to block attacks

Monika: But that's fine. She has other special attacks, starting with the Gaihō no Geki.

Monika: Translated to the Ghost Peak Strike, it lets her summon a Dragon head to, well, strike at her foe.

Junko: Then there's the Tōrai no Hoko.

Monika: Translated to Thunderbolt Lance, this move has her lunge forward while coated in an electric aura. Oh and don't worry about her defense since she has the Mujū no Tate. 

Monika: Also known as the Shield of Dreams, she creates an aura in the form of a ribcage that acts as her shield. This shield can deflect almost any attack.

Junko: It can also be used alongside her Exodus Arc which is kinda unfair.

Monika: If that's not fair, she also has the Mujū no Gō.

Monika: Also known as Bulwark, she dispels the Shield of Dreams and sends her opponent flying sky-high.

Junko: Then there's Tengai no Hi.

Junko: This one translates to the Flaming Dome. She charges up a massive fireball that culminates in a pillar of flames!

Monika: And the Renge no Kai.

Monika: Also known as the Arms of Sympathy... though she has no symphony. Instead, she dives down upon the foe with a ghostly face. And there's Jiai no Yū.

Monika: In which she seductively latches on the opponent and steals their life-force

Junko: ... I could make so many jokes about that one.

Monika: Don't. 

Junko: Next she can use Shizuku.

Junko: Where she summons the pieces of Yasakani no Magatama to strike the foe with electrical shocks!

Monika: And Araragi.

Monika: Where she spins Yasakani no Magatama to deal continuous damage.

Junko: Finally there's her Overdrive, Distortion Drives, and Exceed Accel!

Monika: Her Overdrive is Arc Force, which increases her speed and strength. It also lets her block while Yasakani no Magatama is deployed.

Junko: Her first Distortion Drive is Hazen no Kui or Stake of Supremacy!  Izanami kicks her opponent skyward, and assails them with a series of blows mid-air before piledriving them into the ground and kicking them away!

Monika: Her second is Kyomu no Koku or Hour of Nihility, where she motions her hands and stops time, allowing for her to deal extra damage.

Junko: Yep, you can't go wrong with hitting Za Worldo at you. But there's still her Exceed Accel, Melancholy Death, also known as Arc Force. She kicks her foe, and ensnares them in ghosts. She then stops time, impales her ensnared opponent through the chest, and then withdraws! Once time resumes, her opponent collapses

Monika: Of course her final attack is her Astral Finish, Tokoyo no Yami, or Eternal Darkness.

Monika: Izanami launches the opponent skyward with a swirling dark aura. She then carries the foe down to the ground and sends them into a swirling pool of the dead, instantly killing them. Like seriously, this move is guaranteed to kill almost any opponent.

Junko: Especially when she's in her Unlimited Mode!

Junko: A mode that vastly increases Izanami's power, durability, and the potency of her attacks! Izanami is one of the only three characters in BlazBlue: Central Fiction to have an Unlimited Mode in gameplay, the other two being Nine and Ragna!

Monika: And yet she does have flaws.

Junko: Yeah, the Saya aspect of her personality can sometimes cause her to lose her composure and Izanami herself might not unleash her full strength at the beginning of a fight. Her body is in heavy need of maintenance too 'cause just like everybody else connected to Noel, has a flat chest.

Monika: Still, even with her weaknesses, Ragna couldn't kill her. In fact, she was almost too much for him.

Junko: Luckily Ragna had Noel by his side to absorb Izanami into her and defeat her once and for all.

Monika: How ironic. Izanami, a "Goddess" who couldn't be killed physically, has suffered the death of her own personality becoming Noel herself. A fate... worse than death.

Junko: But she still made one hell of an impact and won't stop until you and everyone you know and love is DEAD.

Izanami: Dance on the strings of hope for dreams which are never fulfilled... Struggle pathetically until the very end... "Humans".
